Great idea to post this recipe. I am sure so many people asked you about it and its great that you showed powdering it in the blender. Because whenever I tell most of my friends they always feel that it can't be done in the blender. I have to thank you for having my point validated to my friends with this video. love this recipe! very little amchoor powder is a great substitute for tamarind as it is more dry and gives a longer shelf life. also consider putting dry garlic powder for the same purpose

The flavor will be different if we substitute tamarind for amchoor. But it really is a GREAT tip to extend the shelf life of the kara podi by using dry amchoor and dry garlic powder.

I always wanted to know how to buy asafoetida in Canada, from hindi stores.. Later, I figured out by tasting the hing powder which my north-indian friend used while cooking. What is interesting is that, the hing which they use has different texture and taste..

Why didn't you add til and little bit of jaggery chef? Adding little bit of jaggery will balance the taste

It's your version of Idly Podi.👍 In Tamil Nadu coriander seeds, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds are not commonly added in Idly Podi.

chef it is very nice.kids wont eat this much hot for that you can fry channadal,chilli to taste urud dal ,aesofotida and handful of peanut you can reast without oil in pan .and you should finally grind it .it will be tasty and also kids like a lot.thanks.

its different ingredients which we use in Tamilnadu,,,,but also nice to taste...but in some cases we there is lumps formed in podi ..how to avoid..can u give tips,,,thanks....

Dear chef, the same podi can be made with very little oil, or no oil, and it lasts easily for three months. Try it!
