My kind of Museum. Thanks for taking us along Steph.

I was on holiday from the US four years ago and I visited the museum with my wife. She’s not a car enthusiast like I am, but she loved the museum anyway for all the unique period items, knickknacks, and dioramas.

First visited when it was at Holker Hall. Been several times since the move. once with the DLOC in my 20/70. The onsite catering is top notch too, which can get extra family members over the threshold!

I've visited the museum in 2018, they had an exhibition with the Bluebird boat in an adjacent building. The museum was one of the highlights of my visit to the UK 😊
@ldnwholesale8552 Жыл бұрын
The Bluebird boat is NOT the real one. It was made for a TV show. The original, at least pieces were in Conistom Museum in 17 and I belive the restored version was going back there. I think the car though is the original Malcom Campbell one

Great video Steph, been to the Lakeland Motor Museum twice now, one for a family holiday and one for the Lloyd Vehicle and Planet Auto Social, a real little gem hidden in the lake District and nice to see Chris talking about the history of the museum never realised it's been kB the current site for 12 years!

Great whistle stop tour that. I went to the old museum but that looks to be a big improvement, much more space. I love those old games and it was nice to see how they work too. Thanks for sharing this trip in this video Steph. 👍👍

Great video very well filmed, I went to The Lakeland Museum in Cumbria a few years ago with regards to seeing the Donald Campbell exhibition great Museum to go to, but if you are in to Commercial Vehicles and Buses I would highly recommend you go and pay a visit to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum Leyland in Lancashire a very well enjoyed Museum which is well worth a visit.

The Corsa B looks modern but at over 25 years old I think it's earned it's place in a museum. And that Volvo estate, my god! I bet that's one of the best original examples left.

In the 70's my thoughts were Action Man and Airfix kits plus my chopper bike. As we went to the 80's my main priority was my 70's Hillman Avenger. Its 2022 and I am 61 - my lad bought me an airfix kit for my birthday - I am regressing lol

Looks like my kind of museum, does make me feel old though. I remembered watching a (new) Amphicar drive into the River Thames C 1964, later I found out it belonged to a teacher at my school.

Used to work with a chap who had 4 Amphicars in various stages of restoration & running. He used to cruise the Severn around Worcester, and was known to cut the fishing lines of anglers who didn't move their gear quickly enough!

Lakeland is a great way to spend a day, I've not been for a few years, and it looks like they have been updating many of the exhibits. Lakeland hold Classic Drive and Ride In days throughout the year where owners gather and show their vehicles in the car park. Also various clubs hold events at the museum. Check out the museum web site for the dates and times.

I was there on the 31st August this year on a 200 mile day trip out. My advice would be to ensure your phone is fully charged with plenty of memory so that you can take plenty of photos because you're guaranteed to miss things if you don't, the place is stowed to the rafters. In my opinion, whether or not it's popular I don't care, I think they're doing themselves on the entry cost because it's worth more than the £10 they charge for you to spend the day there.

Love the vid Steph. Great stuff seeing some, if not all, of that classic automobilia. Gotta be inspired by the original Top Gear TV series if from anywhere via YT. Yer a true friend if ever I knew one of that kind, someone who loves old cars as much as I do. I've got coverage of the old Motor Shows on DVD, and many books with literally thousands of classic car photos.
