Hi! This is a note of appreciation for the content you put out. I started prepping for my IELTS about 3 weeks ago. My preparation was more on reading and listening. I did mock tests and I was confident I would do well in these two. I was at a loss on how to prep for speaking and writing so I barely prepared for them. I'm not even kidding, I took the IELTS test on the 8th of November and they gave me 7.5 for speaking. I wasn't satisfied with my score at all because I knew I could do better. I watched this video. Just this video. Asked to retake the speaking test and I just got my updated score back. 9/9 in speaking and an overall score of 8.5. I took the test on a computer and the results usually come out within a day or two here in Uzbekistan. I can't thank you enough 🙏😭!

I’m from Vietnam and my speaking often ranges from 7 to 7.5, similar to my writing one. I just have no clue how to raise it to meet my expectations, that is until I came across this video, and I came to realization that what I’m missing out on is to speak naturally like a normal conversation. I used to be too focus on fancy grammar and advanced vocabulary which always puzzled my brain, but after having watched this video, I conclude that I just need to be myself, be more confident and be natural. I think I did alright, probably a band 7. I was 10x more nervous than what I expected, so I repeated some words a little bit too much and went off topic in two questions. Not having a chronometer like in the practice tests was detrimental for my performance.

One thing that I didnt like of your videos is the emphasis (i hope I wrote correctly) on "cheaters" (people that memorize a response/template). Not talking about this video specifically, but in general... But idk, I am not a teacher and I know no one else that do this kind of test, maybe that kind of people is way more common than what I think, but for me it just meant that a whole chapter of your video was irrelevant. Chris, I can't thank you enough for all the resources you’ve provided. A few months ago, I took an IELTS mock test and received an overall band score of 6.0. Then, a few weeks later, I took another mock test and improved to a 6.5. After that, I focused intently on the materials you shared with me. To my surprise, when I took the actual test for the first time, I achieved an overall band score of 8.0! My individual scores were Listening: 8.5, Reading: 8.5, Writing: 7.0, and Speaking: 7.0. In speaking module, I did better than any other module but an Indian Lady was the examiner and she gave me 6 . A lot of students complain that Indians do not give good band to Bangladesh students .

Everyone learns differently, I've had good exposure to learning English since a young age, the only tip i can give u is to watch all the speaking samples they have on this channel and also practice with chatgpt, watch movies and series. Just don't think too much while u r actually giving the test, don't be artificial, talk as you speak naturally with confidence, be relaxed. You will do good 👍🏻
