Carol Shelby had several Broncos. I've seen one of them in person at the Bronco super celebration. I like that truck a lot but to say that Carol Shelby would have done it this way is a bit of a stretch. He kept his stock for a reason, utility.

The Holley double pumper is probably too much carburetor for the 302 would be my guess. It sounded like it was almost flooding at idle.

Wow! That is one damned nice truck. It's also nice to see that it has an owner who appreciates what it is that he's got there too. I so wish that Ford had sold a few RHD versions of that model down here in Oz back in the day. The closest we ever got to something like this in terms of old-school looks & performance down here was was the SWB V8 International Scout (later model Ford Broncos not withstanding).

You should be reviewing the real deal. The Stroppe Bronco. Sold through Ford dealerships like the Shelby Mustang Built by The Ford racing guru.Bill Stroppe who built championship winning cars in multiple categories. I saw someone with a Shelby Pinto no more real than this Bronco. Lol

I read something a year or two back in an online featuring a late 60s Bronco Shelby/ Shelby American did actually own. It was supposedly used as a prototype and had a HIPo 289. For whatever reason Shelby American didn’t pursue the project and the Bronc wound up in Texas on Shelby’s ranch as I recall.

Dual shocks front and rear? That is a Bill Stroppe modification for the Baja Broncos. This isn't an original/ heavily modified Baja though. Right? The roll bar isn't Baja. Could use a closer inspection to see if there any other Stroppe mods to maybe confirm.

IMO that's a $100,000 Bronco every day & twice on Sunday. The Bronco market is currently on fire & they're bringing huge money. A replacement body is $18k, paint minimum $10k, wheels & tires at least $2k so there's $30k right off the bat.

Some interesting choices. It's largely a cosmetic build. Shelby was first and foremost a performance company. The title made me dream of period correct suspension parts from the likes of James Duff, or Parnelli Jones, powered by a hot 302/C6 combo (Duffys floor shifters for good measure). Period correct Rebel wheels. Seats from a Torino would be a nice touch. In my "what if" land, the cobra name would be reserved for the mustang only, and Shelby would have assigned a new moniker to the bronco package. "Rattlesnake" maybe? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the appraisal was fair. You'd be hard pressed to find something with as nice a body that rust free for that price. Broncos are hot right now. As long as the owner loves driving it, that's all that matters.

It isn't worth a plug nickel unless someone wants to overpay for it. It isn't "Shelbyized" just because they put a couple of aftermarket symbols on it. By the way, SUV does not stand for "sport" utility vehicle. According to the manuals(including VIN cards) I had available at one time from the '20's to the '80's from GM it stands for specialized utility vehicle and GM should know as they are the ones that coined the term.

Shelby would not leave a stock 302 in it. He for sure wouldn't throw a double pumper on a stock 302. He wouldn't use Bolt on Flares, he make them part of the body. This is like taking a 392 mustang, painting stripes on it and saying it's how Shelby builds his mustangs. I like ve the Old Broncos, they remind me of my youth. But this is an insult to Shelby
