John, as a fairly new player (a little over two years), I've been longing to be able to play this. It's going to take a while :) but with your tutorial, if I stay with it, I'll one day play this. Thank you so much for going slow, teaching the melody slowly, etc. Very grateful!

Thanks for posting this. I had it about 80% on my own, but this kind of quick tutorial is great for making adjustments early on so we don’t have to work harder to fix them later, after our fingers have decided they know better than our ears.

Thanks! I am an old guy but relatively new guitar player. Been fingerpicking for a little over a year now. Takes a long time to get that thumb to operate by itself!! Now really working on the left (fretting) hand. This is a really, really good exercise. Plus it sounds really nice! Watching Emmylou do this song has been a longtime treat!! Thanks again! Love your videos.

Keep workin it! The steady independent thumb is tough! I’ve tortured many students, they call me the thumb Nazi. I learned this flat picking from Doc Watson many years ago. It’s sweet finger style too.

Hey John, thanks a bunch. Great job. Mind if i ask the model of your guitar. Martin, I believe, based on the nice pickguard I assume it's a higher end model. Thank you

You’re welcome Brandy. My guitar is a Larrivee LV03. Not sure they make this model anymore. It’s about 13 years old.
