Self inquiry is the most direct spiritual practice. Because it is the most direct, it is also the most simple.
But unfortunately, simple is not the language of the mind which is used to dealing in complexity.
And because of this, the mind perceives Self Inquiry as something outside of its reach.
That is why today, I will explain Self Inquiry to you:
1: Keeping it simple enough so that you get it.
2: But also with a hint of complexity; just enough so that we can lure your mind into being open to grasping it as well.
The video today is a recording of a call I did with a member of my Higher Consciousness Shift program.
In it, I am speaking to an intelligent person but I explain Self Inquiry to her as if I was teaching it to a small child - An approach I like to use with everyone that I work with.
If you have never really understood inquiry, hopefully balancing the simple with the complex in today’s video allows you to finally grasp it.
And if you are already familiar with inquiry, hopefully today’s guidance helps you refine and deepen your understanding.

Best wishes,

Greetings from a Hungarian fan. Your meditations really work for me, thank you, Sunny. I get out of them with a lighter, calmer head. Lots of false, phoney, ineffective stuff out there but you come across genuine and effective.

Helps me alot! That teaching: instead of paying attention to the content of the thought , but instead sense that being of inside "awareness" .

Hi Sunny, Both intellectually and experience wise most people get this inquiry easily. But this doesn't alter our thinking habit or consciousness. We are back to square one just after this experiment/experience. As mind/body itself is projected by self at least once it should be completely dissolved even for few minutes/seconds. Then only I think we can say we made some progress!! During our meditation we can clearly feel the separation of experiencer and the experience. This means mind is not completely desolved into its source (which is Self) and it will bounce back, feels like a losing battle!!☺️

Sunny I guess the problem is that when a juicy thought draws us into it we get lost in it and while we are in it we suffer. After a while when we realize that we are thinking/suffering and snap out of thought. But by then the damage is already done.

Hi Sunny - Thanks for creating these videos on self inquiry. I really enjoy them and found them to be very helpful in gaining more clarity on the subject. I also really liked your video where you described how thoughts arise in mind and you used a water bottle as an example. I found that example to be very useful in understanding the stickiness of our thoughts. I used to wonder why do I only experience 'I' when mind is silent but not otherwise but that example made me realize that when thoughts or any objects arise, the same 'I' becomes that object and therefore we can't experience the formless and the form at the same time but the understanding that the formless has taken a form now. Keep posting your videos full of wisdom! Thank you!

Who is aware that "I am aware". ? Again I am aware is also a thought. Without mind can we aware anything?

How can one know that awareness of something isn’t just mind or the brain. Since when a thought arises it’s difficult to tell the difference between the thought and awareness as well

through out the video, I just closed my eyes and was trying to stay in that "now"' moment. no need of concentration or ability to hear your lecture, and the voice emerging from upstairs, they are emerging out automatically. The first " " is to know is that "Iam".

Thank you Sunny. When we ask ourself 'Who am I'...is it the Awareness of awareness that we are aiming to Be with that we are looking for?
@jmac4952

Just imagine in the beginning of the process that there are two of you... the fictional, mind made, character in the story who is unstable and is always becoming this or that, sad or happy, rich or poor, etc... and then there is what you really are which is awareness, stillness, peace, changeless. All that is going on is a shifting of awareness from being channeled through the artificial and unstable self to being channeled through the changeless true self. Acknowledge you are both even though there really is no "both" and that is just the paradigm that has been established through belief. It takes a lot of work to undo a lifetime of being trained to perceive from the perspective of the fictional self. So you're not trying to become the awareness that is aware. You already are that. But your awareness is believed to be experienced through the fictional self and so it is experienced as real. It's only a belief reinforced for many years. It will take time to undo it. So imagine there are two of you and speak for both. You ask, "who am I" in order to begin the process of shifting your awareness back to the awareness that you are looking at the imaginary self and asking "who am I" or "who is this body bound fluctuating me?" You do this as practice not so to get an answer but to experience yourself as the higher self directing your awareness onto the lower self. You just need to hold it in attention. And then note everything that comes up... feelings, physical sensations, thoughts and note that they are all produced by the brain so that it can propagate the fictional me, the ever changing character in the story. That's not you. You are awareness aware of the seemingly endless flow of experience produced by the brain to keep the character in the story alive and to add to it as well. I could go on forever. This is already way too long for most people to be interested in but I thought I'd write it anyway. It may or may to be useful. Most important! There are no shortcuts. It takes time and dedication.

Is it ok to repeat Who am I? Or I Am? Not over and over and over. But my mind doesn’t present monkey mind busy thoughts, yet it wants to say something and In the silence I find myself saying I Am.
