Joshua Willis It's more entertaining, it has more replay-ability, the sales reflect upon its creativity and entertaining formula, and the fan base, though-be-it mostly a younger audience, is much more respectful and kind then what you would see in a CoD lobby. The same argument made in this video could also be made for Call of Duty. Same game, same formula, buffed graphics. Does this alone make CoD bad? No, it doesn't. I don't particularly like CoD, there are many, MANY better FPS games out there (TF2, CS:GO, CS:S, Battlefields 1, 2, 3, and 4, Halo, etc.). I respect your opinion, and i also respect the opinion of the creator of this video. The video was amusing and witty, but there is a heavy bias. I would imagine he's a fan of Sony.

When I think Nintendo, I think the exact opposite of what you're saying here. When I think Nintendo, I think innovation. They invented the D-Pad. They invented shoulder buttons. They popularized the use of analog control sticks and brought them into mainstream gaming. They popularized the use of motion controls. Because god knows Mattel failed miserably to do that with the Power Glove! They innovate in the games as well. They popularized side-scrolling platformers, and for two straight generations, those were the most popular genre. With the NES Legend of Zelda, they popularized the concept of doing levels out of order, and exploring in a non-linear world. In RPG games, they popularized the use of timed button presses to do extra damage. So no, Nintendo doesn't just make the same stuff over and over again.

While there's a joke it's all the same, there's a lot that goes into these 'rehashes' to make them unique, while keeping the original style. Honestly, I am not blind to see the truth in all of this, however: -Sure, it does follow the same format every time, however ALL the dungeons are unique and different -Every 3d Mario game is different from Mario 3 in multiple ways. -Well, Wind Waker Hd and LBW were some of the best Zelda Games to remake considering its been over a decade since we have seen them released and they were very successful video games -I don't know about anyone else, but I play Pokemon for the new region, added features, moves/abilities, the Pokemon and the competitive aspect of the games. Training all the new Pokemon and possibly our old ones is what gives all the replay value in the game, gamers such as myself are up to training all of them because its fun. "Adding 100 more critters" is certainly more then meets the eye and can provide HUGE amounts of replay value. I can agree the formulas stayed the same, but is that a bad thing? If the formula is flawless, it doesn't need to change. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Add weapons that aren't only long range, like in GGO where you can have swords, and instead of doing what halo did with the energy sword, add actual melee combat where you can dodge, parry and stab. All Call of Duty games are shooting a gun and enemies, all GTA games are killing a bunch of people in open worlds, all sports games are... well playing that sport, does that make them bad games? No. Nintendo does what every other company does release the games in a franchise with a small maybe even game changing tweak, of course the idea of the game is going to be the same because it is what make the franchise a franchise. Just because the franchise is old doesn't mean they have to change the formula I couldn't imagine a complete gaming industry without the classic Mario or Zelda style gameplay And even so it's not like these are the only things Nintendo is doing, Splatoon and Xenoblade X is coming So now can you let us have our fun without calling us nostalgia blind assholes? While Nintendo DOES market more games toward younger players than pretty much any other game company, a large number of their players are adults. This ranges from adults who have been playing Nintendo games since childhood, to, as RustyMailboxPro said, gammers who don't want to play a hardcore game, such as an FPS. One thing I feel obliged to point out is that Nintendo games focus a lot more on creativity and problem solving than baseless adrenaline rushes, and it's not just children who prefer these kinds of games...

Hell, even the DS games where great! I am just waiting for like, new characters, bosses, enemies, places, new histories with the same feeling of the gameplay of Metroid/Castlevania. I feel like, they need to have a new history, background, villains and heroes... i dunno, something new, maybe new characters for like Metroid, i know it will suck, but Samus will never be forgotten, same for Castlevania, though they have been doing that since a long time, they changed the main-character, Simon Belmont back then, he was the big deal, probably the first vampire hunter?... but now, you have all of the other badass vampire hunters, each one with their own badass game! :P I don't know, i am looking forward about what will Nintendo do to these Great franchises, for now, i guess we should wait :D

Still one of the most, if not the most innovative gaming company out there. They introduce a new way to play games, or at least make a new way WORK, then sell titles that implements that new way of playing. Original GameBoy: how handheld gaming has been perceived for the past 20 years. Wii motion controls: Mii Sports, Metroid, Zelda DS double screen: Practically every game on the system N64: 4 local multiplayer, analog sticks, rumble pad and the games of the system brought something new to the industry They still have the most amount of 1st/2nd party developers... which produce the same games, but gosh darn it they still have the larger variety as a whole. Now when it comes to peripherals cost, and 1st party game cost, Nintendo can suck my BALLS! They have dropped, so why can't their prices drop too!

OK since even though it's 12:28 in the morning here, I'm still wide awake so while I'm at it, I'll explain the differences of each generation of Pokemon, starting from Gen II and why these minor tweaks actually greatly affect the game, though please bear in mind that these changes are only evident in the competitive field (the story mode of all Pokemon games are all too damn easy for them to be noticed in my opinion). Gen II - In generation two, the Steel and Dark type pokemon were first introduced. These types served to balance the previously overpowered psychic types in Gen I and gave more use to the fighting type pokemon. Another well know feature in Gen II was the addition of Held items which allowed for more diversity in strategy. Breeding was also introduced in this generation but the question of if they ever helped people in competitive pokemon, is something I cannot answer. Gen III - In this generation, Abilities and Natures were introduced and just like held items, these new features allowed for more strategies in competitive battling (see Abilities and Natures in bulbapedia for more info). Double battles were also introduced in this generation, Gen IV - In this generation, pokemon moves were separated into Special Attacks and Attacks based on the move's description rather than what type it is. This allowed people to fully utilize their pokemons' base stats. An example of this would be salamence, a dragon-flying pokemon. In gen III and below, dragon type moves were special type attacks and flying type moves were physical attacks (or simply attacks). For salamence whose stats leaned more towards physical attacks, teaching it flying type moves were more effective as even though it was a dragon type, its dragon type moves were weaker than the flying-type ones, but in gen IV, teaching it both flying and dragon type moves allowed it to fully utilize it's typing in battles. Gen V - I got nothing here. Aside from the addition of new battle types (see triple, and rotation battles), I see no change in this gen. Gen VI - In this generation, a new type was added. This type was called the Fairy type, which was created in order to balance out the dragon type which was considered overpowered in previous generations. Generation VI also added horde encounters and Super training allowed even newbies to the game to be able to develop the EVs of their pokemon properly. Furthermore, the addition of mega-evolutions added a new mechanic to master in the game. These mega-evolutions allowed old pokemon to be reused as mega-evolutions essentially worked as power-ups for them. However, as these mega-evolutions required you to let your desired pokemon to hold a certain item, in the competitive field, these mega-evolutions require decent planning on the player's part (that is, who should be the one to mega-evolve and when should you mega-evolve in a battle).
