Just for the record, I don't think obsidian tools would be that over-powered. I just think it would have a helluva durability.

About armor, I think it should have slightly lower protection than diamond, but with infinite blast resistance, so the "Blast Resistance" enchantment would become incompatible with obsidian. Swords and axes should have a damage in-between iron and diamond, but be more durable than netherite. Obsidian pickaxes should be able to break obsidian as if it were a gold pickaxe mining stone. Therefore, the best way to attack a player in full obsidian armor, is to use obsidian tools
