@ Cathay has basically 99 % of its lore in Total War and some short stories that came about to flesh out the total war. But with The Old World it might get more. Just to be clear: Yuan Bo is similar to Guilliman in the sense that he is running the empire, is a bureaucrat and not as outlandish as his siblings. But he is their top wizard, executioner, spy master and seems more shrewd than Guilliman is.

Had a feeling you were going for Yuan Bozo. He's the only faction I use the lanes with actively, because it makes sense for him and him alone. Don't start with Naggarond, their lane is mid at best. With Yuan Bo, you can take over both, the Lustrian wifi password and the entire Chinese economy. The lanes do remain as an afterthought, which only come in play when you need to reinforce Cathay against the endgame crisis of the greenskins, vamps, Chorfs, rats or all of the above.

Sea lanes are amazing for campaigns with objectives across the map and for leading enemies on a wild goose chase out to see while their capital goes undefended and my small strike team disappears over to Lustria for a bit of raiding before they come back 😂 It’s a strategy game yall

The Cathay harmony system is interesting in that many people seem to disagree on which implementation is better. Maybe it's because I played with the old system a fair bit but I HATE the province-based harmony. You just don't have enough building slots to maintain it while also making the province useful. What they should have done instead imo, is give an auto-updating preview of what harmony will be like next turn and / or give a slight grace period either side (up to +1/2 Yin or Yang), within which you can maintain harmony.
