For my country, Germany, you have to learn both the language and the sign language because you have to still mouth the words you want to say while supplementing with hand signs. That also helps deaf people learning the sign language to read lips of people who cant sign and to practice mouthing word to learn how to speak (its very hard for them but possible).

I thought that the two Valencian girls were going to be angry when you said that Valencian is a dialect of Catalan. Here in Spain there is a lot of disagreement about the origin of Valencian. Although what you have said is correct
@juanantoniodomenechrubio5780
@juanantoniodomenechrubio5780 2 жыл бұрын
As a Valencian speaker myself it only takes to watch the catalan tv for 10 minutes or read a page in a catalan newspaper to notice that it's the same language. I always thought that it was mostly a naming issue. We valencians always have called our language "Valencian".Catalans always called the language "Catalan", in majorca they called it"Mallorquin", etc... I guess it would have been helpfull to choose a new term for the whole language instead of using one of the preexisting names.
@osasunaitor
@osasunaitor Жыл бұрын
@@juanantoniodomenechrubio5780 I suggest _Catalenciano_ as the new name for the whole language. If _Asturiano_ and _Leonés_ created _Asturleonés,_ why can't you?
@Haru.s_gutz
@Haru.s_gutz Жыл бұрын
Yes, Valenciano and Catalán it's mainly the same language, the problem is that people say Valenciano is a dialect of Catalán when is the other way around. There's written proof that Valenciano was spoken before Catalán, but it's ignored by most people.
@osasunaitor
@osasunaitor Жыл бұрын
@@Haru.s_gutz the written proof only means that Valencian was written before Catalan, not that it existed before. Actually, if you learn a bit of history you'll see that the romance languages of the Iberian peninsula originated from vulgar Latin in the Christian kingdoms of the north while the rest was under Arabic influence, and gradually spread south during the "Reconquista": Galician spread southwards and became Portuguese, Asturian became Leonese, the dialect spoken in Cantabria/Burgos expanded south and became Castilian, Aragonese expanded from the Pyrenees until Teruel, and Catalan spread south and became Valencian and Balearic. This doesn't mean that any of them is better or worse. Both Catalan and Valencian (and Balearic) are unique varieties that together form a rich language. History is not important, keeping the language alive is.
@Haru.s_gutz
@Haru.s_gutz Жыл бұрын
@@osasunaitor First of all, I do know that bit of history, it's basic Spanish history knowledge. Second, Valenciano was Indeed spoken/written before Catalán. When Jaime I came to Valencia from Catalunya he didn't spoke "Catalán" he spoked Latín because "Catalán" itself didn't exist yet, in the other part, "Valenciano" was spoken and written. It isn't information that hard to find. Third, ofc they're both great but it's quite infuriating when I try to find a book labeled as written in Valenciano and turns out it's pure Catalán just because it's "the exact same", Valenciano is slowly dissapearing because of this. Sorry if it sounds a little aggressive but it's a theme that just irritates me.

I know you said Otomi sounds like no other but I’m curious to know: If you had to pick a language, what language would you say Otomi kinda sorta sounds like? I’ve heard Tibet, Korean (cadence), French (probably the oi sound that we use), Polish, and even English. Surprisingly, there are a couple Otomi words that some people find similar to English such as nana (mom), dada (dad), shawhaw (shower) are just a few off the top of my head. Almost forgot to add-many Otomi Natives including my parents can pronounce English words more easily than, say, an Italian speaker. I think the sh sound and nasally “American English-ish" sounds that are also common in our language plays a huge role. :)👍 Personally, I find Otomi to be most similar to Korean and Mandarin the most. Every time I listen to K-pop or go to a Chinese buffet & hear Mandarin songs I swear the sounds they make sound like Otomi but I can’t understand! @1:27 Who the heck does not she think she is that Xenophobic Swiss Women?! The same could be said about Swiss-German since some people say that it is regular German, spoken by Autistic people. If Swiss German is a language then Schwäbish, Platt Deutsch, Bayerishe and etc are also. That’s not fair and very arrogant. It’s a Allemanic Dialect. There’s one standard version of Swiss German which is indistinguishable from German spoken elsewhere apart from some words.

There’s a bunch of different versions of sign language depending on where you live, like in America we have asl (American sign language) which is a lot different than something like jsl (Japanese sign language) so it’s kinda hard to tell what he’s saying because I’m not sure if what he’s saying is in asl but at the beginning it seems like he’s asking if they are deaf I think? And then when he walks up to them I think he’s asking if they know sign language or if their hearing? I’m not completely sure I’m only in asl 2 but that’s what I think he might be saying And also when the guy hands him the money and puts his hand on his chin that means thank you and the guy is saying thank you thank you back to him
