for everyone who doesnt want to watch the whole video and just wants the main points: 1.make healthy choices easy (no unhealthy foods in the house) 2. focus n whole foods and no added sugar 3. get excited about healthy lifestyle 4. stop eating unhealthy on vacation and at restaurant 5. water and tea 6. stop eating when you are satisfied 7. limit/eliminate alcohol 8. consistent movement all day 9. romanticise exercise 10. prioritize sleep

Thanks for the pointers. Honestly apart from the vacation part I'm OK with everything else. Because on vacation I usually go home and there is no way in hell I'm leaving my mom's cooking.

For me, it started with Zumba. But i had trouble staying consistent because I had to follow a specific schedule which didnt work for my lifestyle. Then I tried the gym. I enjoyed it, but it does get boring eventually. I really started to enjoy working out once I started biking as my main way to travel, and ESPECIALLY when I started latin dance. It adds a lot of social to the mix. So I get to see my friends AND listening to music, AND exercise AND discovering a new culture AND practicing my spanish AND feel like I'm partying all at once. I can dance for 5 hours and not even realize it. I just love love love it. Y'all, for real, you WILL find an exercise that you like you just have to TRY THINGS

Healthy food is very fun if you care about the aesthetic of it! I almost always cook in a way I'd like to order in a restaurant. Taking a pic and sending it to friends and mom. If it's pretty, it makes it even tastier

For those who barely go on vacations ( like me) - enjoy your food!! I can understand restaurants, but as expensive as things are, I don't go out to restaurants often and go on vacation like once a year. And I don't really count travelling to another city in my province as vacation. yes it's a trip but I try to be mindful of what I'm eating. Flying across the world? Nah, eff that, I'll enjoy my food.

I watched a lot of such videos in my life. And I have to say, that this is one of the best I've every seen. Like, it is actually what you also need to do to lose weight in the first place. But the difference is that if you lose weight it is the journey to form those habits over many months, and not in a short period of time. And the result is the weight loss. And when you get there, you need to mentain. I love it❤ Basically slim people are not slim because of genetics but because they practice surtain habits. Lot of those habits. And losing weight has no secret, it is just realizing that you need to change your lifestyle, give up things and replace them with better things and realizing that it take it 8 - 16 months to adapt new habits. But if you say it like that, companys don't get the money, sooo. Yeah, if one realize all that and than watch your video. There is nothing that can stop them apart from wanting results in months not years, not staying consistant and overall pushing to much.

I use my Adhd to my advantage. I consistently fidget and take the longest route to the bathroom, I try to stand as much as possible at work since my profession is more of an office setting. I have to be mindful because sometimes my coworkers try to sabotage through bringing in donuts and sugary calorie high drinks and just junk food in general, and trying to guilt trip me into indulging when they know I’m on a health journey and am being more mindful.

This is such a fantastic video! I really enjoyed it! Was also refreshing to hear someone say that you don’t need to eat dessert all the time. I see a bunch of influencers online who claimed that you should be able to have a dessert every day. But I really struggle with that because I love dessert, and if I have dessert every day, then I have a very hard time with portion control. It’s easier for me if I just don’t buy it or keep it at home.

Tip of the hat to you for breaking the bad habits of childhood, Ms. Rahman. I grew up fat in a household where overeating was the family religion. I slimmed down in my mid-20s but between age and illness, my weight's increased, which is why I viewed your video, hoping for a tip or two I haven't tried. (I've cut down on the snacking, increased protein, and, now that I'm recovering, exercising more, but the scale won't budge. Oh, how it sucks!)

@@Monica-de7ve I'm already planning a part 2 and I'll definitely speak on this! I went through the same thing and simply had to find new friends that align with the life I want to live. I had to completely cut off some old friends, but others I just distanced myself from. It can be lonely at first but you will eventually find your people. And for family, I had to have very strict boundaries with since a lot of them just kept shoving food and dessert in my face, but I've held my boundaries long enough where they know not to offer me stuff like that now. I also had to distance myself from certain family members. Unfortunately sometimes, when people don't want to better themselves, they also don't want you to better yourself. Stay strong and I hope this helps! 💕

I personally really disagree with the whole mindset concerning sweet treats. You should absolutely not make sweet treats something you can’t have everyday. You can absolutely have them, just make sure that when they are being served, they are served small so it is easier to listen to yourself when you are full. Another important point is the learn to make the “junk food” at home. I have sweet foods every single day because I crave them. But I don’t buy the store junk food. I make it and I serve the size I think is appropriate. When you limit yourself from having sweet foods, YOU WILL CRAVE THEM MORE! Forbidden fruit is the best..

I'll make a more detailed video on this but I basically figured out that I have a gluten sensitivity. So I no longer eat things with flour like bread, pasta, etc. I basically only eat rice or potatoes as my carb source. Also I cut out all processed foods (rule of thumb is only eat fruits, veggies, meats, eggs, fermented foods, dairy if you are not lactose intolerant AKA minimally altered foods). I also don't have protein powder because it makes me inflamed (probably because it is a very processed food). And I eat a large variety of veggies every day and don't overdue it with carbs. This advice could be slightly different for everyone! For example my brother can't have dairy but I have no issues with dairy. Try the elimination diet to figure out what specific foods you are intolerant to.

Are you talking about concentrated prepackaged juices? Or natural juices from juicing?
@naomee
@naomee 2 ай бұрын
I'm talking about all juices! Concentrated packaged juices are definitely worse since they have extra preservatives and chemicals in there, but even juicing fruit at home is not the best since you are tossing the fibre and only consuming the sugars and water from the fruit. And when you juice fruit, you are using A LOT of fruit to get just 1 glass of juice, which means you are consuming a lot more calories than is possible if you just eat the fruit. A juice now and then as a treat doesn't hurt, but I definitely wouldn't consider it healthy. Always best to eat the whole fruit the way nature intended!

@@naomee we juice the whole fruit along with a combo of fruits. So while I agree eat the fruit. I disagree in thinking you don’t get any of the fiber. You would have to really really strain the fruit to get it smooth.

If you eat sweet stuff coupled with protein, there is nothing wrong with it. I have chewy granola with chocolate chips, peanut butter, hemp seeds, and flax seeds. It is a very filling meal even though it isn't a big portion size.

Thank you! I'm 4'11 and weigh 110-115lbs now (I fluctuate 5 lbs all the time) But I rarely weigh myself, I instead write down my waist, hip, thigh and arm measurements a few times a year. Its a much better measure of progress because the scale will not show you how much muscle you gained / fat you lost

Is adding a teaspoon of honey to your tea, okay? Or is honey bad?
@naomee
@naomee 2 ай бұрын
@@chevimae a bit of honey is not bad for you, but I personally avoid putting any in my tea because I’ve learned to enjoy it plain. Try hibiscus tea, lemon tea, or ginger with a squeeze of lemon in it. If you are used to drinking sweetened drinks, it will take some time for you to start enjoying it plain. Now I prefer completely unsweetened drinks of all kinds (coffee, matcha, etc.)
