So, my interpretation: it’s not living people singing, it’s the souls of those that died from suicide/died tragically, trying to pull more souls into the abyss they exist in. They’re lonely, but no matter how many people they trick into dying, it’s never enough.

“It’s wrong. So wrong. But we’re lonely. So lonely.” Going by the group suicide perspective, it really reminds me of how the two originators of the group would have dragged other people into the suicide. Suicide is scary, very scary, nobody knows what happens next and they’re leaving everything they do know behind without any knowledge of where they’re heading towards, but humanity has always sought safety in numbers and trust in example. The two originators are scared to go alone, so when they find others who are contemplating suicide or otherwise just depressed, they convince them to join them so that it isn’t that scary anymore. They know that it’s wrong to do, even if are convinced it’s an escape, but they’re scared and lonely, and there’s safety in numbers, so to speak.

It's not a good comparison, the scare factor from the two producers are completely different. MASA relies on gory and grotesque imagery to terrorize you while Kikuo masterfully toys with the line of creepiness and mystery by being subtle in both the lyrics and music. His stories are never specific, they let you use your imagination and personal experience to piece things together. He uses your own mind against you. Not saying MASA's work is less scary or impressive but the method is obviously not the same. The only similarity is that their songs are catchy as hell.
@notmitsukiyolol3 жыл бұрын
Masa is more on a Physical Aspect, putting a story for you to be terrified from. On the other side, Kikuo is more of on the Mental Aspect, being like Maretu and weaving the mind of the listener to imagine more openly. It's kind of like Horror Games vs Maretu.

As someone who's been into Vocaloid for years, seeing your reactions literally just hypes me up because it's like "YOOOO HE REACTED TO THIS SONG I GOTTA SEE HIS REACTION 👀" and legit your reactions to both the song and meaning behind it are genuinely so good. Keep it up, mate! I guess if it's okay for me to recommend some Vocaloid artists, I do have a few in mind! PINOCCHIO-P: Definitely one of my favorite artists out there with songs with deep meanings behind that catchy music. I would recommend his newest work "Non-Breath Oblige" along with "LoveIt" as the MV's to those songs are amazing and once again the music is really good! PowaPowa-P (Siinamota): Surprised I haven't seen anyone mention him since I whenever I think of Wowaka, I also think of Siinamota. Another artist with deep songs hidden behind cheery beats, I would recommend "Strobe Light" and "A Palette Full of You" but really a ton of his songs are so good it's hard for me to pin point my actual favorite. Siinamota is definitely one of my favorite artists, probably Top 5 or even Top 3 favorite Vocaloid Artists ever for me. Utsu-P: If you're into hardcore music, you gotta check out Utsu-P. If there's a dark meaning behind their songs, they ain't afraid to show it through the music alone lmao "Hyper Reality Show" and "MiKUSSABATH" are bangers and I would totally recommend them. inabakumori: I've actually only heard about this artist a few months ago despite one of their songs from 3 years ago literally have 10+ Mil views and I think it's mainly because they don't use Hatsune Miku but instead another Vocaloid called Kaai Yuki, who's pretty underrated and honestly doesn't sound that good in many songs imo. Inabakumori, on the other hand, makes her sound so good though and I would definitely suggest checking out "LagTrain" and "Lost Umbrella" from them. Note they don't have english subs on their videos, so you'll have to look at the videos that do have the english translations lol There are many other producers I could suggest, but s h e e s h this comment is getting long. Just wanted to mention a few I barely saw anyone mention, if they were even mentioned in the first place lmao Once again, appreciate all of your reactions and hope to see more from you soon! Take care!

This whole album by Kikuo, Miku 6, is just chock-full of mindblowing tracks that leave you gaping in awe once it's over. Cotton Candy is the best example of a horror song I've ever heard, The Cat's Dining Table will make your jaw drop, and XxX Cat feels so raw and hurting and it's perfect for what it's about. There's many more but those and Hole-dwelling really stand out to me. The whole album has an overarching theme of childhood, especially struggling, abused and/or traumatised kids.

I think I've read a comment on the MV that this song is about Japan's office worker drinking culture.. how they spend most of their time drinking after work hours in a bar until morning comes. That explains the lyrics about "blurry eyes, wobbly feet" and since it's a repeated action, it became a habit and now they "cannot escape" the addiction. "Are you a friend? You're our friend. We're the same" Is them asking around if any of the other workers share the same addiction and luring them to join the group. Also the alcohol theory kinda fits how Miku scream sounds like an underwater scream for help, drowning in alcohol But that's just a theory that I really like about this song ✨

This really reminds me of a manga a read a while back, the title is "Children" by Miu Miura. a bit spoiler there and there, i think it's best if you read it first. the story's a bit scary, though. My wording might be weird, my first language isn't english. It's about a nursery, filled with children with different ages, working there, by killing humans or what they call it, adults, who sent to them, all tied, once in a while. Everyone there are children, even the head teach. All of them are not even scared or disgusted with it, it just seems like a normal behaviour to do. They think the adults are evil. They can't leave the nursery because of a curse. if they flee, they will always come back there, around the nursery, seated somewhere, while they are already died. if a child died, there always another child sent to the nursery. if the new child can't kill people, they will be the ones who killed. "we can't be in that world, neither we can be in this world." they know that they aren't actually belong there, it's just that they need to do it to stay alive. even if they fled and survived, normal people wouldn't be okay with it. they don't belong anywhere. "the sun, the moon, the sky, and god" this line really reminded me of what they said before eating. they pray to the sun, moon, sky, and god. "we can't escape, so we won't escape." i think this line referring to the curse, how they can't escape. "Let's fall together, like the best of friends, wherever it may takes us." "the same, are we not?" even though they are forced to work, the children there actually friendly with each other, because they know they are have the same condition. "it's wrong, so wrong. but we're lonely. so lonely" they know what they do is wrong. killing people is wrong. but they had to do it. because if they don't, the get killed. and it's lonely. "one of us. what do you say? wanna join?" in the manga, there's this new child who can't kill people, and the children there really determined to make them be able to kill. it's feels like they are trying to get the new child to be one of them.

Within the first twelve seconds I adored what I was hearing. So naturally I started to get this sinking feeling knowing the song would probably be especially dark because I like the instrumental so damn much. Surprise no surprise, it's dark. But I'm with you, I like the second interpretation more depicting a spiraling down into codependency and further disconnecting from society. The imagery reminded me of Junji Ito's Uzumaki, but that's due to the spiral. The song however made me think of a certain scene involving an eye. I'm not sure why I was reminded of that specifically. Maybe the imagery of that scene within Uzumaki reminded me of the couple in this song being beyond the point of return, like the eye. Don't apologize for vibing though, we're right along with you, and I understand the excitement for this song now. Your reactions are always great, even if some moments catch me off guard lmao. For this instrumental, I'll take one for the team too

I can never forgive Kikuo for making such banging music that we discover have gruesome topics enough to make any hardened person flush....he do be making us dance tho. I'd like to see your analysis and reaction to UFO by Kikuo. It sounds so whimsical but it's so hecking sad and depressing and I want to cry just thinking about it...

YESSS one of my fav kikuo songs! I interpreted the story slightly differently, when they repeated “it’s wrong. It’s so wrong”, I took that as the group singing about recruiting people to something like a cult or group suicide, but because they are so lonely, they need to convince people to join them in their sorrow, and this fall “deeper” into the dwelling of their messed up ideals/mindset. The cult idea to me fits a lot more with the whole “the same” lyric repeating over and over again, sort of representing giving into the cult mentality. It also relates to the “we are in gods sandbox” lyric towards the beginning of the song.

I have two theories. #1 - sometime kinda close to the beginning, when the two voices are singing together, they say 'this dance is a queer one'. This makes me think, along with the suicide pact theory and the fact both of the singers(it's really just miku tbh) are girls or fem sounding voices, that they are in a girl x girl relationship. This is go with the codependent toxic relationship, and the suicide past theories, as they could've both been abused and/or severely bullied through their lives, and become depressed thanks to internalized homophobia(it is a bitch, from experience). So, they could've ended up in a toxic relationship where they end up hurtg each other through there own act of hurting themselves, and continue until they both give in a die together(maybe leading into another kikuo song, called Let's Go To Heaven), or they meet another bullied LGBTQ+ person, and convince them to join them in dying together, so none of them feel alone in their suffering #2 - the voices are a girl and her inner thought. She's singing to herself about how much fun or how better it would be to spiral until she didn't exist anymore, but sometimes questions it. When she does question it(the lines, 'it's wrong, so wrong'), a quiet, dark voice tells her that it would free her from her loneliness('but we're lonely, so lonely') and sadness, and she ends up going down that path.

I really like your second interpretation. It kinda reminded me of the psychology theory of the Superego, Ego, and Id, where the Superego is our logic (It's so wrong) and the Id is our base instinct (But we're so lonely)

I’m pretty sure, from everything I’ve read, the song is about drug addiction. How it spreads and pulls more people into a pit that’s much harder to climb back out then it is to jump in. Falling further down the hole is representative of falling further into addiction. It seems like the narrator is either introducing other people to hardcore drugs or pressuring someone else, she knows is venerable, into doing drugs (or possibly a codependent relationship) so she doesn’t have to feel alone in her pain. I’ve had issues with an ed which often leads into addiction later in life (if you survive long enough, that is). I can say from my own perspective that it’s easier to develop an addiction/obsession and it’s an understatement to call getting back out “hard”. I still have a strong habit of looking at myself in the mirror or body checking and I have to push myself to eat sometimes. Any sort of addiction never fully goes away. I’m lucky I was sent to a counselor and put on antidepressants. It made me more emotionally stable and I realized just how much I’d been hurting myself. Even then, it took a lot of pain, effort, and time just to sort myself out and actually try to change things.

Might be kikou's best song like literaly That dude honestly makes the catchiest stuff and as soon as you see the translation you kinda start regretting that you've danced to it. Kikou is a literal god of vocaloid

the image used for this song is abstract enough (and smudgey enough in places) for me to think it was created using AI, but it's also structured enough for me to think that's not possible... it's really bothering me.

taking the lyrics more literally, it seems like this song is about a group of people in kind of a cult thats main purpose is an escapism, theyre all lonely and want to physically escape down into a hole where they can all be together, and then all dream together and share their dreams with one another to escape from the very god of their world, the same toying god that scarred them. But they cant escape, so they wont, which makes it seem like they know that suicide won't let them escape that god, only dreams can let them escape, if only for a few hours. Moreover, the scream probably comes from how tormenting it is realizing that joining the cult and leaving society is wrong, so wrong, though in their minds it's okay because they're all so lonely anyways

Maybe you can look into Pinocchio-p's new song Non-breath Oblige? (Can also be read as Noblesse Oblige) The MV is quite animated, so I think there's a lot to uncover and english subtitles are also available. There are no breaks in the song (a comment says that Miku only breathes twice throughout the song). I think this contributes to the theme of the song of "I can't breath". Plus, a lot of lyrics = a lot of things to uncover I hope you can look into it someday!

*"Anagura-gurashi (Hole-Dwelling)"* is a song about the joys and sorrows of living in a fantasy world outside of heaven and earth. As the lyrics suggest, this song is about friendship, companionship, and acceptance, both between the singer and his companion, and between everyone living in the fantasy world. The singers talk about playing in the sandbox, dancing and laughing, even in pain and tears, and no matter what a person looks like or what they have done, they are still accepted and loved. The lyrics also allude to accepting oneself as one is and being able to break free from the cycle of sorrow and start anew. At the same time, it talks about understanding and accepting the pain one may feel and aiming to look toward a brighter future. In short, this song is about being able to accept and love oneself, and to keep on living even with hardships.

I always interpreted this song as being about someone who enters a toxic friendship or community, bonding over the fact that they have all had their dreams slighted by the world. They et that bitterness consume them instead of trying to leave behind that dark and toxic mindset, and so they keep attracting people who feel alone and slighted and form a group, however the members of the group don't actually help each other but make each other worse. Like in the context of the song. They entered the hole bc if their crushed dreams but instead of being uplifted by this group that accepted by this group they are dragged further away from their dreams and caused to fall

i think the song is basically what a person at like rock bottom depression thinks/feels, or in a metaphor, depression speaking to a person carrying it, and the imagery representing someone spiraling further and further into depression, and after hearing the song talking about more than one person, it’s like the person with depression thinking that the world around them is leading them into their “hole” (depression, since depression can feel like dwelling in a hole if they have it.) basically thinking that the world doesn’t want them around, so their depression is “telling” them they should commit/the person thinks they should commit to free themselves from those thoughts (?) theory tho so idk

I don’t know if anyone else interprets this song this way but I never really thought about it being about suicide specifically. I felt like it’s about those who bring down others with them in life without intending to, whether that be because of mental illness or such. We know it’s wrong but bringing down someone else with us is better than being alone in life. Edit: I was writing this comment right before I heard the last interpretation being read 😂. Oh well.

all kikuo songs are a banger! thank you for working hard to create content, and keep up the good work! an underrated (? i assume so) song that would probably make for a good reaction is powapowa-p/siinamota's "At the Mercy of a Dream" (Yume no Mani Mani).
