I recently overheard a conversation between teenagers who were visiting our museum. One of them was talking about a "really old" show she discovered and quite enjoyed. While she was describing the plot, it suddenly dawned on me that the show in question was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Existential crisis ensued.

20 years of innovation in abusive corporate strategies will answer: "yes, that was the pinnacle, before we arrived". My suggestion towards an MBA: using AI to detect gameplay patterns and attribute the player's household wealth accordingly, for ad targeting on closing the game. Imagine: you close Elder Scrolls XIII and you're shown precisely the type of fast food that will trigger you at that very moment.

Original Daggerfall had mouse aiming and WASD controls, it just required the player to enable that in the settings first. It defaulted to the old Arena controls, but had optional 'modern' controls. The Unity version has those options turned on by default, fixes a lot of bugs particularly with the engine and game framework, and allows great mod support for things like upscaled textures and additional quest packs.

Morrowind and Daggerfall are genuinely good games. Morrowind is a core part of my early teenage childhood, and I even worked on the Tamriel Rebuilt project for a bit years ago (mod to add the Morrowind mainland to the game). If you do a Morrowind retrospective, I'd definitely look into some of the major mods for it as well as the OpenMW re-implementation of the engine.

Morrowind-wholeheartedly agree. Daggerfall-absolutely not. Morrowind is a complete 180 of everything Daggerfall was. Daggerfall had LE BIGGEST MAP that felt completely barren. MW had the smalles world, yet felt gigantic when you had to travel through it. Almost everything in Daggerfall was procedurally generated, or crafted from set templates. MW was completely handcrafted. The story in Daggerfall is disjointed, and anything besides MQ is procedurally generated. MW’s guilds are one of the best iterations of them in the series, given to competent writers. MW plays like a modern game, while DF is one of those prehistoric ones. I usually say nothing when the game is mentioned out of respect one might give to excavated fossils, but don’t try to equate them.

@@max7971 Daggerfall is less of a story based RPG and more of a Fantasy Life Sim. The reason people love it isn't because of it's world or story, but because of the absolute freedom you have and the insane depth of RPG mechanics. Like, bro there's a whole court system, that's insane lol. The main story and some side quests have inconsistencies (as per usual with Bethesda) but it's still mostly well written and interesting, there's a ton of lore in that game.

As a Gen Zer, millennials aren't old imo. I think the reason why people have been pondering this question is because if you're young and you haven't developed a lot of perspective yet (like if you're a teenager who's mainly around other teens), 30-40 years seems old and the 90's seem like a long time ago. I'm 22, but I've always surrounded myself with people who were really mature for their age and my parents are both baby boomers, so when you have that it helps put the years in perspective. The 90's does seem like a long time to me - it's 25-30 years - but some of my close relatives and most of my fellow students are around that age, and I'm aware that I've had very little life experience compared to them. And yeah, I get concerned at times looking at my own generation. Stuff does feel vapid and shallow, especially on social media, and there's a reason why zoomers have the stereotypes they do. I'm glad to say though that I have yet to really know anybody like the people Josh described.

When I bought my first XBox it came with a game some snowboarding nonsense. So I bought my first Elder Scrolls game or Morrowind and I was hooked. I do miss the Dwarven spear and Dwarf Crossbow and how it would knock opponents off their feat. Even enjoyed the ability to create my own spells.

Came here for Morrowind, Left with a redemption ark for Projared. Interesting how the drama around him was trending all over the world, yet I wouldn't even have known it were all lies, if you didn't mention him. Morrowind was cool though, forced me to learn English faster when I was a kid. Bloody Orvas Dren was pretty hard to find without understanding the language :D If Morrowind had a quest marker, I wouldn't remember this so vividly.

Poor ProJared's entire friend ecosystem imploded due to that drama filled liefest. The fact that he managed to recover and still keep making videos and reviews and just exist on the platform shows a lot of resilience. Really admire him for it.

I think GOG used "Galaxy of Games" as a tagline for a summer/winter sale one year, or perhaps used for their launchers beta announcement a while back. Either that or Josh saying that just triggered a feint memory of mine from another dimension that aligns with what he was saying. Mandela Effect, baby!

As a GenX gamer - I remember the day I realize I was old. But it’s not the end of the world. I still game and game hard. Arena, Daggerfall, Ultima Online, EQ - all at release. BG/BG2, Bards Tale, Ultima - I have memories of great games you younguns will never have :)

the line between young/old is definitely a blurr. We're in it. The scene of Dr. Who's tardis going from A-B? Young was A, and we're certainly on our way to 'B'eing old

when you are young, oldsometimes feels like the next decade bracket. like when i was in my 20s, old was over 30, then in my 30s i dreaded my 40s. now im pushing 50, and honestly, owing to some changes in my diet and fitness im probably more energetic and fit than i was when i was "young" and feel pretty good. If you are stll dating it does lead to awward moments as certian ages of prospective partners start feeling weird, so i do feel self conscious on that front, but even thats a me thing. old is kind of more a health thing. heck at my gym a guy i really liked talking to was in his 70s, and was still benching 225 and always had a good story. im not sure if he was ever old. and another guy at my church is in his 60's but he plays in multiple bands, exercises a lot, and does all kinds of volunteer stuff and can fix anything related to homes, he may be younger than me, outside of chronologically. perhaps old is just when you have the most good stories?

More like middle aged rather than old, but it depends on who you ask and age is a broad spectrum. Ask a teen or younger and any adult is considered old or even ancient.

I tried playing daggerfall a few months ago. After an hour lost in the first dungeon dying repeatedly i had to look up where the exit was. Turned out i was close but went int ca different room at the start of the hallway, died, and forgot about that hallway. New enemies seemed to keep spawning in one room. There ended up being probly 6 guys stacked on top of each other, so id see a body fall but it was like nothing else changed because enemies were still in his places. The combat was clunky. It was click and swipe to do different swings and didnt always work or hit. I may try it again someday.

If I were working on an influencer house and they were rude, I'd make sure the next one signed a contract containing the stipulation that I reserve the right to cancel the job half-finished if I am treated disrespectfully. And I'd go through with it the very first time someone got on my nerve by being a rude prick.

I'm 40, Josh, long-time viewer. I'm not really a sports fan, but I judged every milestone in a sports way. At first I became too old for the U18's. Then it was the U21's. Then it's "some wrestlers and mixed martial artists START in their 30's". Then the one that really blew my mind... When I became the age where _if I was a footballer,_ I'd be retired by now.

That's not entirely wrong, due to the economy and inflation people often have to delay big life milestones like marriage, kids, house, until later and later. It's not like older generations in 80s and 90s where a 25 year old with an average salary could reasonably afford a house in many areas.

Friends, Millenials, Countrymen, lend me your ears. I just left a GTA RP discord server 3 days ago. Upon opening FiveM (the modified multiplayer GTA client) I loaded into a server that immediately loaded a music video from a Soundcloud rapper, who looked barely over the age of 17, with tats on his face, and so much auto-tune it'd make T-pain cringe in his sleep. In character creation, there were 168 hairstyles, 30 of them being "wicks," 30 of them being "twists," 30 of them being braids, and 30 of them textured fades with designs cut into the buzz, basically any hairstyle that Trippie Redd, Kodak Black, XXXtentacion has ever had. The back 15 hairstyles were the lamest "Tony Hawks Pro Skater" haircuts I've ever seen. Why so much detail, in this description? Because I knew where I was, off jump. I was in a server full of people under the age of 21. I go to the discord and there's like 40 people in general chat. Click on some profiles, all of their bio says "18" and stuff like "He ain' slide 4 Von, bro..." (a reference to rapper King Von's death) and another one "I jus want some dickkkkk broooooo" and a bunch of sweating emojis. My ignorant ass typed "So this is what it's like being in a chat of zoomers" and you guys, the amount of "DOT DOT DOT" and "LMFAOOO HE SAID ZOOMER 🤣🤣🤣🤣" was... incredible. Truly a humbling moment. These kids even have JOKES about "Hahahaha you have a mortgage bro hahahah" and I didn't even have the heart to tell them. They don't even know that housing is like, the number one thing we complain about, and we don't have mortgages. We paying rent out here big boy, astronomical rent. It TRULY made me see the absolute disconnect between us and a generation 6-10 years younger. They really have no fucking idea, man.

At 40, I'm an Elder Millennial, but I've met a ton of junior millennials that seem far older than me. I hear so many complaints about knees and backs from people ten years younger than me, while I'm over here like "I'm in my *prime*", and it's only a little bit in the Doc Holiday style! I may have been happier had I taken better care of myself when I was younger, but sorting out my health now is doing wonders for maintaining a youthful perspective and energy level.
