I still remember the Just Cause 2 demo that came with an Xbox magazine. It was basically a repayable timed demo that let you do anything you wanted within the world alongside a mission or two from the campaign, once that time was up of course, you could always do it again and explore within that limit. Best advertisement demo for an open world game, just letting you have fun and yearn for more, needless to say, when I had enough money from working when I was 15, it was one of the first games I bought with my own money.

Demo levels I remember vividly: Spyro, Medievil, Dino crisis, T'ai Fu: Wrath of the tiger (had to look the name up as had no idea, but the gameplay is etched into my 10yr old mind). Time were different. You had much fewer games and those you did have you played the shit out of. Toca touring rally was our (shared playstation with my brother) first game following by G-Police which was so bloody hard as a kid. Another demo I played loads was downhill mountain biking. I'm going to nestle into some nostalgia now, thanks.

0:45 Speaking of remembering the first level of games 😅. Back when FF7 came out and I was 8, it took my forever to finish disc 1. By then my disc 2 got destroyed and couldn't play it. So I played disc 1 over and over and over and over. Finally found online saves and played Disc 3 and, to this day, when I replay FF7, disc 2 feels like such a chore while Disc 1 and 3 are an amazing nostalgia trip.

I tend to watch reviews and reactions here and there, and this is what it looks like on my eyes. While searching for something to see, a name is what makes us click a video. Because we like to see how someone else react to certain experience we had. For me it started looking for final fantasy X where boys and girls cry at certain moments. Then used to go to "first time hearing x song. Either lyrics or rhythm impressions. While watching a special opera singer react to game music was really nice, because this guy was not a common youtuber, the guy was a former pro. (We like to have indirect recognition) Somehow while listening to game music we tend to click on what we know and avoid new stuff (IMO because we would like to listen first, play it first and not after, even when we won't even play)(I think you know how this works by now) People like to suggest without caring of the success of the video. But from my perspective, music reviewing is better in two phases. The first play and then the analysis. On games I feel it's 3. 1. First playthrough (feel the game) 2. Watch a playthrough from someone else (understand the lore and game) 3. Full game analysis. (Understanding of what, why, where) That's from my perspective. Anyways thanks for the videos, and have a great day.

There 's basically like this big content war and platforms are demanding content creators produce mass quantity of content which looks great to shareholders and investors. Even if quality content is better in the like long term: many users are trained to just consume and will drop out completely of watching your videos. They are not stable viewers as such, but can be really profitable if you can handle the pressure. This leads content towards things like reality TV over the the more informative or well written shows, IMO. TLDR, humans are mostly short-term thinkers and watch quick and instant gratification that leaves them overstimulated and content creators overstressed

Same here, I thought it was so cool that there were cannons and musketeers and whatnot when that trash old game AoE2 (you may have heard of it) only had bows and swords. Played thru it again recently, loved it, but not as hard as I remember. the later planets you conquer are definitely a challenge tho

Dunno about variety you're still just pointing your bow at an enemy and clicking, think the reason we see so many stealth archers is because it can one shot enemies in the mid/late game with the sneak attack bonus, whereas even the strongest warriors and mages have to paddle spam with their dwarven sword or cast ice spike 30 times per enemy respectively. We get loads of stealth archery because it's effective

@@t0mbst0neyt Yeah, its just that it's satisfying, not that its varied. Its why I don't really care for it, since I could get the same experience by going rifles in FNV. I go for magic because Its funny to me to place landmines at my feet as I run away from enemies and hear explosions behind me while seeing destruction level up. I can't really play Skyrim as anything but magic/stealth melee anymore, just because of how 'eh' the combat is once you've played hours of it.

I don't have many details but what I can remember is a central building with green grass courtyard that was walled in pretty closely, and I think a modernish city as the 2d backdrop far far away. you could go into the building but I don't remember much about it, I think it all may have been a church and graveyard? I don't remember much about the character although I want to say he was almost like the noid (take that with a grain of salt) and could move quickly and jump and such. If it's about pleasing the algorithm, would making it several videos be worthwhile? a [Game] after 10 hrs video focusing on first impressions, a video on character progression and story setup in the midgame, etc, and then conclude with a final review. To be honest, I'd love more than one video for a single game.

I know that 1 level feeling about Demo disk's, I had a lot of them because I bought gaming magazines to make a 2 hour commute bearable. There were times I had trouble getting through the 1st level or third (in my recollection, which may or not be true, it was often the third level) of the full game because I was already so sick of it.

Lufia 2 doesn't have many reviews, perfect candidate is it not. Josh just perfectly described the 3 TES games. 3 good RPG bad action 4 Sean Bean and Patrick Stewart 5 good action bad RPG Tremendous

Anyone remember Blue Dragon? Think it was on the 360.... A college buddy of mine would play that almost every day back in 2007. I might give it a try now, now that I am thinking of it

As a random person you dont know who enjoys your takes id love to see how you feel about Legend of mana, being a game riding off the snes success of Secrets of Mana. Its a very niche game i love that requires far too much knowledge about mechanics that arent readily introduced to players. Keep up the great work!

Jade Empire! I miss that game. It's a damn shame it didn't sell more copies and get sequels.

I could swear I have seen a long and detailed review of morrowind by Josh, but apparently I am hallucinating and that never happened. Now, even though I have never played morrowind before, I have vivid and detailed images of the game and the systems in my head.

Would love to see reviews of some of the Ultima games. Ultima 8 in particular is the one that I have a lot of good memories of, though I guess Ultima 6 or Ultima 7 are probably the more highly regarded.
