Hello Diane! I think two reasons you are doing so well (and that your viewers can learn from) are you vocalize gratitude and answer comments. These things build loyalty. I'm much less likely to continue watching a channel when my comments are consistently ignored, or I see the creator never answers any comments at all.
@DianeMoore5 күн бұрын
Hey Nancy Anne - I appreciate you saying that. And honestly, aren't those two things kind of no brainers? :) i guess they aren't for some, but I truly am committed to both! And wowee your bread is lovely!

What a great video and perfect timing. TBH I have been getting very discouraged and trying hard not to take it personally. I definitely need to work on engaging viewers in the first 15 second. @DianeMoore5 күн бұрын
You're definitely putting in the work, Caroline! I offered a few suggestions to you in a comment below...hope they help! And as for shorts, I'm really not a good one to comment there. I would only try them as little snippets from your longer videos and then make sure you use the link to the short to that particular longer video. And from the looks of things, definitely still keep your short less than 60 seconds in that scenario (even though you can make them longer now.) I tried a couple of shorts like this like 6 weeks ago or so and they did ok. And then I did a longer short in the same way a couple of weeks ago and yikes... my next long videos was very low views. So I can't say how much is connected, but I've heard others saying that if you're going to connect with snippets, keep them under 60 seconds still.
@NkechiR4 күн бұрын
Shorts will get you subscribers, but your long form videos will NOT get much views. Especially if you have more shorts than long form views. That's what i've observed. Look at all the major shorts creators (with millions of subscribers), their long form videos barely get 10,000 views.

Not to mention don't even get me started on descriptions and what should be in there and what has to be in there regarding if you mention another channel or use music or a clip from something you came across...it seems overwhelming and I'm sure I'm just overthinking...but....😅. Nice video. You seem like a real person. It took me 4 1/2 years to get from 120 subscribers to 1000. I’m at 3000 now. Still a struggle, but I keep going. I like making videos. I know I’m talented what I’m doing. Cannot edit on a computer. Can’t figure it out. But I keep going on my phone.

You’re right- it is hard. I had a faceless channel that went nowhere… seems tough to get traction with those now that so many are doing it … but I hope you can land on some things that give you a great push forward !

Diane, I’ve watched several of your videos. Thank you for your welcomed advice. I have been making videos for over three years now. They are cooking videos in my home? I also have a website. I’m pretty green at editing and knowing how to place it together correctly on CapCut, but I’m trying. My question to you is for the new year, should I really continue to go on with cooking videos or go in a whole different area with KZbin? Can you have more than one channel? Thank you in advance for any suggestions. 😊
@DianeMoore5 күн бұрын
Hey Dianne - thanks for connecting. Hmm, you can have more than one channel but you have to gauge how much you can really handle. I personally think it would be a lot to juggle 2. Maybe some of the hints that I share in this video can be helpful to implement and see if it helps to grow views. I know the first 15 seconds is a big deal... perhaps some more emphasis on capturing attention in the beginning? I guess I'm saying don't give up on the current route with trying a few new things to see if things improve a bit. But I LOVE that you're recording and posting and learning.... I would just be concerned that trying to double the work to support 2 channels might make it overwhelming. Make sense?

As a long-term utube watcher, I agree, with what your saying. I HATE intros & outros. I just started a channel in Dec 2024, I knew absolutely nothing about editing, I'm still learning. Our channel is about our Off Grid cabin build and life, so it's a very specific topic. I have 146 subscribers and am very engaged with my viewers they are becoming my friends. I guess a lot of success is with the algorithm. Thank you for your advice, you just taught me about end screens lol. Like I said I am a newbie and only have my Samsung phone for everything. Slow and steady wins the race.

Always helpful info Diane TY. I created my channel, first vid was awful, I hand held my phone and talked. A month later I published the 2nd video and got 201 views and some went back and watched my 1st vid so the views rose from 10 to 83. I felt great! 3rd vid got 6 views. I'm discouraged BUT I remember you saying, give it time. I can't help but wonder what I did right in the 2nd and not in the 3rd when I thought the 3rd was better. I will see how to 4th goes taking more of your advice from this video. Thx! AND I laughed out loud at "not being the scary person"! You are SO entertaining!
@DianeMoore2 күн бұрын
Ha! Well I like to keep your attention 🙂 hey we all have some videos that tank in comparison to others. Don’t be discouraged- keep trying some new ideas and make your titles and intros good. KZbin is far from a straight line of progress

Hey you're welcome. I edit everything on my phone with Capcut. As for the cards, yes - just use the KZbin studio app to upload rather than the regular KZbin app.

This KZbin journey is a longterm thing, not simply for those that get discouraged and then throw in the towel. I feel like that algorithm weeds out the committed vs. the non committed and then…boom! We are trying in our journey, new videos, shorts, new subscriber giveaway, etc. In it for the long haul even if the initial launch here takes some time. Great video! 🎉 🎃

Yeah there was someone else on here asking about a vlog. I like watching them but im no pro with knowing how to promote them. I’d say as much as you can “specialize” somehow based on location, or a vehicle type, or something along those lines that differentiates yourself somehow, that could probably help. Hope it works for you!

Not sure why yt recommended this video, but I watched it to the end out of curiosity. Both my channels tend to focus on what I'd like to see (but often can't find re: content on this channel's content, and absolutely can't find anywhere re: my other channel). Quite frankly, I'm astonished I have subscribers on either channel, and that anyone watches my videos and shorts. My other channel focuses on challenges in life I'm facing and there's perhaps a chance I might be able to help someone else through a weird life maze too, or perhaps inspire someone to start their own channel to share their story, their interests, or what have you. I focus on being authentic, bad hair days and pimples and all. One video featured me talking about being your authentic self while I used pore strips, then a clay mask. Another showed me starting the new year by shaving my head. I agree with you about being authentic and genuine, but I purposely don't have "competition" with other channels and I purposely do the opposite of what many content creators do (such as applying make up while talking and then looking totally different). I'm not looking for views, and have no starry eyed dreams of monetization. All I hope for is that even just one person who needs to (for example) know they're not alone in this or that in life sees my video. And maybe sends me an email or leaves a comment. Or starts creating their own content. I think almost everyone should make yt videos. I'm glad you're heading a channel you like and making content to help others, and I wish you and all your viewers success, whatever that looks like to you / them. I'll be watching more of your videos because, if nothing else, what you say is interesting, you have a pleasant and soothing voice, and views help your al gore ithm. 😀

@@DianeMoore Thank you for your kind reply. I think another thing that can free content creators over 50 is that many of us are past caring if we project a certain image or look a certain way. We know who we are, "warts" and all. Many of us don't look our best all the time, or even some of the time any more. Lol. And I for one am not looking for a husband or looking to date. So... no make up or minimal make up, no filters, odd camera angles, different cameras and lenses, pimples, bad hair, shaved head, occasional tears, real frustration, admitting mistakes and struggles is the opposite to a very great number of social media content I've seen over the years. #BeYourself I do admire your consistent excellent hair days, excellent skin days, laser focus, amazing consistency, great lighting and sound, solid content, and fabulous personality though! 😁 And you're over 40! 😊🎉 What an impressive self you are, dear one!

Great tips - thank you. If I may throw a couple back at ya... On video, your face looks a little washed out, so I'd cut the brightness down a bit (reduce your face forward light or adjust in a filter) and maybe play with some color grading. On audio, I can hear you clearly enough and I can tell you have very good vocal quality, but the mic position and whatever audio settings you have is making you sound "less direct", like it's almost recording you behind your back with some boxiness. Basically this is why I prefer using a cardioid mic on an arm positioned just so it's getting my forward vocals. But there may be a way to correct the lavalier audio although I'm not immediately sure how (search on "how to make a lavalier mic sound like a boom mic"). I assume part of the fix would be moving the mic down a bit so it's not directing to under your chin. Hope I have helped back.

Yeah, it's a mystery. And things slowed waaaayyyy down for me in December - maybe there's timing issues too? Anyway, I'd double down on topics that are close to what your larger view videos are and push some of those out. Your audience is telling you what they want :)
