256gb is criminal as of today. This isn’t your phone where you install a couple of apps that take up few megabytes. This is a computer that is meant to run desktop softwares. Softwares that are literally gigabytes in size. To top that off, Mac OS itself and Apple Intelligence language models will be saved on it. You will only have about 150-180GB of usable space. Install maybe 6-7 softwares, store your photos and videos and suddenly you have a low memory warning. Not to mention that if you fill up your storage >90% it’s only a matter of time before the NAND starts corrupting itself. And suddenly all your data is gone.

Great news, to upgrade the ssd I just need another M4 Mac mini with a larger capacity ssd. oh yes, very upgradable.

only if you want to upgrade the NAND on the module yourself. If a complete module is sold, no need for this.

@Andreas_Straub well here's hoping they sell a module soon. Very unlikely. More likely Apple will offer an upgrade carried out by their technicians, at a cost of the module plus the labour to fit it.

@@TheOGRalph a 3rd party will sell a module at some point, no doubt about it. You can also google a shop near you that does storage upgrade on macs, they will directly replace the nand.
