Her charming face is mesmerizing and her honesty is beyond reproach. So unfair for WTA to not make her defend the title perhaps because she is questioning the tight schedule the WTA is imposing on the players and they did not like her doing that. IGA is just 23 yo and has long years ahead with already 22 titles and 5 grand slams in her belt. She strives to improve her game and still finding her complete game. All the best to her in her future matches!!!!

It's not Iga's fault that her opponent (Pegula) withdrew. So why would Iga be penalized such that her match against the alternate would not be counted towards the group ranking? I bet Iga didn't know either that she could have lost her No.1 ranking before this tournament by the new rule that penalizes her for failing to have played enough 500 level tournaments. It seems that the WTA has some quite weird rule making.

That was not the case at all. In order for Iga to get into the semifinals Coco had to win at least 1 set. She lost in 2 sets therefore Barbora moves onto the semis. Coco spot was already solidified prior to this match because she had already beat Iga in two sets. Cocos and Barboras numbers were better than Iga’s …That’s why they’re both in the semi and she’s not …her beating Dasha meant nothing but points …that’s own her fault that she didn’t know the rules.
@alpinescope4441
@alpinescope4441 3 ай бұрын
If you go to the WTA website and look up the draw for this tournament, you'd see that the records for Barbora and Coco are listed as 2-1, while Iga is listed as 1-1. So it does look like this match is not counted. However, I does appear that even if this match is counted, all three would be tied at 2-1, then Iga would still be the last since she has the lowest percentage of winning sets. So it wouldn't matter in this case whether or not this match is counted.

This rule is the best way to get out of a bad situation without extra matches. Coco won Iga, Iga won Krejčíková and Krejčíková won Coco. So they count the sets won - lost. Personaly i think the format is wrong to begin with. Group stages with 4 players feel random at cases like this and the ability of the last matches to manipulate the final results is unfair

How incredibly stupid. Who makes up these rules? She beats the Czech gal but the Czech gal advances. Why did they make her play when she had no chance of going to the semi finals? That match was completely useless. It was like playing an exhibition and she also had the possibility of getting injured. I never seen such stupidity in my life. Who is running the WTA? What’s next? Iga Swiatek needs to get rid of her whole team. Yes, that means the psychologist. How absolutely ridiculous. She seems to be running the whole show. Elena Rybakina just hired a great coach. She definitely wants to become number one and she has a great opportunity with him. Iga is getting beat now consistently by players like Coco and many others who can’t wait for next year. No coach, especially a top rated coach, would ever put up with a psychologist at practice and constantly around. As soon as Sabalenka fired her psychologist, she has won two Australian opens in a row and this year’s U.S. Open. She even said what do I need a psychologist for? I know more about myself and what I need to do on the court than any psychologist could ever know. Iga swiatek seems like a very sweet woman, but she’s very soft and doesn’t seem to have that fighting spirit like Sabalenka. Sabalenka hates to lose. You can see it on the court. You also can’t take eight weeks off and expect to play top rated tennis with the best in the world. With all the good young players coming up and getting better each and every tournament, I don’t see this young woman from Poland winning anymore slams. She always falters in the Australian open, and of course, the greatest slam of all, Wimbledon. She needs a tough coach. Someone who can tell her you’re doing this wrong. She doesn’t need a yes, man, before it’s too late.

@@DanutaStala OK, what record did she hold? Evert holds the most number of victory in FO, most number of Wimbledon titles won by a women is 9 not zero that is what Switek has won so far. most number of US Open won in open era by woman is 6 by Evert and Serena not just 1 by Swiatek, Most Australian Open title won by a woman in open era is 7 by Serena Williams not zero by Swiatek. Most of tour final won is 8 not 1 by Swiatek. Swiatek holds no record. Let me give you what is the best record at 23 by a woman player in open era Graf 20 grand slam finals not just 5 by Swiatek. You don't need to take pill just google it .
