Given the recognition, roles, and performances Jennifer has on her resume, it's reasonable to put her voice in a general category with the great divas (of whom everyone knows Whitney is one of the untouchable greats). Jennifer absolutely has an incredible, well-controlled, emotive, resonant, classic diva voice, and she uses it spectacularly. She just hasn't had as long of a career yet as some of the great divas, by nature, since she's younger and has grown big on the scene more recently. I do agree, though, with the point you made about full-voiced/loud singing not necessarily being a qualitatively "better" thing than softer singing, e.g. the "indie voice" that's so hot at the moment. Singing quietly with control generally also takes incredible skill, just different skill, and whether people like one or the other style better is a matter of subjective preference.
