Some of the things he has stated are accurate but there are a few things that he has missed that stands out to why he can hold the axe he can hold planets and has defeated gods. Yes, it is known he is a created character through a belief system "mythology". And that's why the chain doesn't chop through his enemies it is clearly shown in the game that the blade is doing the chopping.

The thing with the blades is that they are also molten hot, all the way through the chains, with fire that is controlled by the wielder. It's Kratos' choice whether that chain wraps around you, or straight up melts through you. Same with how it goes through the ground. You can see the marks It's made where it literally melted through as he swings. If it's that hot, the ground would melt before contact and there would be no momentum loss. Still extremely unrealistic, but those aren't downsides that apply.
