I'd honestly say focusing less is the best thing you can do. Let your instincts and simple reflexes take over because the more you wait for the enemies to attack it's almost like knowing that something is gonna pop out in a scary movie and after waiting a few seconds the anticipation almost makes it worse. Brings that scene in star wars to mind where Luke has to just feel the force to block laser blasts when he's training. Watch less, feel more

It is. You have to remember that gamespot gave Ghost of Tsushima a 7 as well. Rise of the Ronin is a great game already. Very fun. Easily worth the purchase.

IMO Team Ninja f***ed up the enemy design again. Maybe I'm too old but how do you parry enemies that move slower than plants but attack with lightning speed? And without parries fights drag on forever.

The blood flick mechanic is the same as the ki pulse. The katana and a few other weapons have the "Nioh-ryu" fighting style. That style is literally an amalgamation of nioh move sets for that respective weapon and the blood flick visual is replaced with the ki pulse animation and sounds.

Theres no indication on when to counter spark on their normal attack animation which makes this combat system really frustrating. Is it on hit? Or is just before you get hit? Pressing triangle most of the time on either doesn't even do anything. Not to mention enemies can stun lock you when you get hit but you cant do it to them. There's nothing more infuriating in a game than a combat system that allows enemies to continue attacking you when you've laid into them. They should always be staggered, you know just like they do to you. Being "hard" doesn't make it fun. This combat system isn't fun.

Apparently the combat is too complicated for most "modern players" the devs needed to give them this in the name of "inclusion" Auto combo probably only makes the offense easier, the enemy will still punish you hard if you don't know when to defend yourself. This is just speculation, though. My self esteem is too big to play the easy auto combo casual mode.

At least get your facts straight. It's an accessibility option for ppl that have physical problems doing multiple presses on buttons. Like special color modes for people that have problems with their eyes. It's not easy mode or for gamers that are lazy.
