thank you so much for your videos. My cousin who I grew up with was diagnosed with schizophrenia about a year ago. She has gone down a really awful path and her family (myself included) have no idea how to handle the symptoms. Everything I've seen of this illness is severe and she looks so lost all the time. But you clearly have the ability to function and rationalize and it's so encouraging, you said it started out really bad- I was worried she would just get worse but this gives some hope. thanks.

He had not told any of his life long close friends about his illness. Maybe if he had been open about it like you, the support we could have given him might have helped him not feel so alone and not do such a thing. Thanks for raising awareness, I too have a mental illness, bipolar disorder, and it is not something that anyone should attach stigma to.

Andy Jones hey Andy I know it's been 9 months since your post but yea your first post pretty accurately describes what happens with me. I have managed to work through the negative symptoms and I'm starting to see things like what you describe. I think schizophrenia is like being tuned in with the spiritual world and most people don't know how to rationalize their experiences. They just write it off as dillusions and paranoia.

Thank you for posting this video, it's comforting to see how someone else deals. The paranoia is constant, and distracting. How do you handle the everyday struggles? Are you upfront with everyone concerning your mental health, employers, co-workers, friends, etc? I personally don't share the information with anyone in my professional life for fear of stigma. If you've already posted a video about handling your mental health in public/professional environments disregard my comment, I just haven't seen it yet. But if you haven't addressed the issue could you? Thanks :-)

This I very interesting to watch. My mother was schizophrenic but never sought help. My family tried but she was aggressively adamant that her delusions were real. She thought that the government was trying to kill her and that they put an infection inside of her when my younger brother was born. She would pick at her skin obsessively and then point to those wounds and try to claim them as evidence to her claim that "the people" were hurting her. She kept the scabs and made messages out of them for her abusers. My childhood was odd to say the least. I always have wondered how different our lives would be if she had ever gotten on medication. I am not sure where she is now. I don't intend to seek her out.

Amazing and disturbing video, thank you.. Isn't there a way to change negatives images, sounds, voices, feelings into positive ones? (Maybe you said in the video, but I'm not sure to have understood all you said, I'm not a good english speaker) Doesn't it depends on the personal approach to the disease? Why for someone it's not so bad and for someone is the hell? Maybe this starts from our personal temperament or mood? So the real question is, If you try to have a positive approach to fear, to surrend yourself, to do not care of what's happening around you for a lapse of time, is there a possibility to change for a minimum bad experiences into good ones? ...Just asking!

My son describes it as living in the twilight zone. My son doesnt hear voices or see things, but definitely has the delusions that everyone is trying to ruin his life, although he cant explain why anyone would want to do this to him. Question? Do you try, or have you tried switching your meds to see if one is more affective for you? Have you tried the injectable anti psychotic? It would be great if there was a med that worked as well on the negative symtoms as well as the positive symptomes.
