I feel like a flaw that captain marvel should have had was hubris. Like she’s this cosmic being, and she knows that she is extremely powerful, so she would be very reckless when fighting. Maybe somebody would use tactics and intelligence to easily kick her ass, or maybe her recklessness would accidentally blow up a city, showing that she needs to turn it down a bit.
@floodvoid4 жыл бұрын
good idea, but maybe reckless isn’t quite the take they should do. tony stark, peter quill, and ragnarok thor do that pretty well so it might feel tiresome. if she gets overconfident like that, itd be more interesting to have her try and take over a planet bc she thinks she can protect it better or smth. reverse avengers1 loki!
@grumpycat64294 жыл бұрын
Cosmic isn’t really spectacular in the comic universe. The problem I saw with the move is that is was just all plot. Nothing felt natural. Yeah it’s a movie in a fantasy universe but even the fantasy aspect felt unnatural. It just made no sense. And don’t get me started on endgame. Her part was absolutely horrendous. You fly through alien ships to get to the combat. You get the gauntlet. Then instead of flying away because nothing could stop you coming in you let your girlfriends surround you and you fly through a army of the main bad guy your trying to avoid. If it was captain ok then he can’t fly, but she literally had one job. Fly up and away. And maybe the movie would have been expanded to a few more annoying ones but the point is you can feel ironman thanks to the previous movies, cap you can feel...monkey hulk no, winter soldier a little, Spider-Man yeah, panther you get his character. Strange you get his character, antman you get his character, rescues short time fighting along tony was better than all of captain marvel. Marvels execution was terrible. But I’m a DC cat. Good thing they didn't pull that string then. The excuse to keep her away was lame, but internally consistent. And in the end, like he always does, Thanos found a way to overcome that hurdle as well. The only way to beat him was what Dr. Strange predicted. I think there is some good theming going on when you clearly show a problem solver, but due to the circumstances the villain manages to still perservere.

@@yoursonisold8743 As someone who didn't watch the captain marvel movie i was wondering what everyone's gripe was about. "It's confusing which movies count in the DC universe." None of them. None of them count, because the way DC runs things, as soon as they make a movie that's even the slightest bit successful, they regear the entire universe around it, essentially rendering everything that came before totally moot. You might as well not bother getting invested. Incidentally, I saw a post somewhere that someone linked me to that summed up my feelings on Joker: "Well, I guess a swimming pool can seem deep if you've never seen the ocean."

I’m really scared for the Joker sequel. I feel like that if Batman does have anything to do with it, it would just completely ruin the tone and other stuff. Unless they tried to make like, a realistic version of Batman without the bat cave, military tier vehicles, and other silly gadgets, that might work for a Joker sequel

I think if they want to keep the same consistent tone they’ll have to do the whole “Batman is just as crazy as any of the villains he fights” thing. I really want to like Antman, and I guess I do, I like the cast and characters, the stories are okay but not all that special, seeing the world from a tiny perspective is always interesting, the powers are cool (shrinking, enlarging, ants, etc) however that’s where I get irked. Antman’s power is so... inconsistent. Hank mentions that when Scott shrinks he (don’t quote me here, I loosely remember it) has all the force and weight of his regular size behind him when he’s small? In some scenes he’s hitching a ride on an ant and walking effortlessly across someone’s gun without them noticing, in other scenes he’s dropped from a small height and cracks/dents whatever he lands on under his weight and can punch with the force of his regular size even when shrunk. If there’s a logical explanation I definitely didn’t get it when I had watched through the film (the 2nd didn’t help much in explaining that regard either)

I was so excited for Batman: Hush, it being my favourite comic book and all. So imagine my disappointment when they twisted it up for the sake of it. The trend of subverting expectations for the sake of subverting expectations needs to go away, all it does is weaken stories that otherwise would have impact and emotional stakes for the sake of a ‘gotcha!’ moment.
@MrTrueKira4 жыл бұрын
I have not read the comic book, so I do not know the plot, but I thought that hush had a weak twist. I like it when the reader gets clues to who the villain is, but Hush did not do that, it was just a sudden reveal, with a confusing twist. Ignoring that, I really enjoyed the movie since it showed how 'broken' Batman truly is.
@calciumanimation6334 жыл бұрын
I get that, despite Hush being one of my favourite villains, the original twist is quite weak. What they do with him after Hush is where he really shines. That being said, this movie could’ve been an opportunity to fix that twist, with proper build up and emotional beats, that could make it so much more rewarding. But instead the threw out that opportunity and changed it to throw people off, and you’ve now wasted not one, but two great villains by merging them together into a weak reveal. Otherwise it was an alright film, sorry for ranting I just was really looking forward to see Hush and instead got the rug pulled out from under me.

I think the "she's got help" scene in Avengers Endgame makes no sense. It's a feminist message, which I'm all for, but it really confused me when I realised that the combined power of all of those living heroines including that of Captain Marvel is only slightly more than Captain Marvel alone. She's got help but she certainly doesn't need it. The existence of Captain Marvel and how she really has no flaws to overcome doesn't offend me, but the idea that she has the power to destroy alien ships just by flying through them and the fact that she doesn't use that power to singlehandedly take down an entire army does kind of get to me. Why does she have help? I think it would have actually been a better feminist message to make her be her own badass father than becoming just a flying version of the physically grounded heroines.
@famedlettuce34974 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’ve never been a fan of captain marvel. She seems to over powered to me.

The scene is stupider the more you think about it. Wasp was like "Hey, Ant-Man can you wait, gotta pose with the girls!" Then flys over while all the woman walk towards the camera, meanwhile men in the background are actually helping by fighting and doing all the work. That's like having the "Camera spins around the heros"-Moment from the first Avangers, but with Black Widow already fighting the aliens in the background.

Yeah, aside from it not really having any kind of build up (since none of these female characters have any shared history or relationships with one another), the fact that Captain Marvel is so vastly powerful compared to the rest of them combined kind of makes it pointless. Its almost cute that they think they can help. It would be like a millionaire donating to Michael Bloomberg's presidential campaign. Honestly, i think DC's problems run much deeper. When you have the trifecta of heroes that stand of true, justice, etc, etc; you can rarely branch out from those concepts to make anything really interesting beyond - Superman punches something much harder and they win, Batman pulls out a MacGuffin device to defeat an ultra powerful villain, Flash uses timetravel to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem, some magic user uses a forbidden spell to save the day. And if something big happens in the in-comic universe? Just reset the entire universe again for the upteenth time. That's why the better running DC series involve straying abit further from the original concept of the trifecta and the league.

@Unpopular Opinions Nope. They literally say in the movie that the boyfriend was abusive and the mother 'let it happen'. But she was being abused too, so you can't really fault her. Real-life abuse victims have a distorted sense of reality and are often afraid to take action out of fear that their abuser will kill them. Saying she was abusive is literally victim-blaming and is one of my biggest problems with the movie. Arthur should have killed the abusive boyfriend, not his mom (who was schizophrenic on top of it all).
