I think generally the smartest thing to do is, once you have hit the enemy and they are smoking and diving, leave them be if you're sure they're LEAVING the battle. Shooting down a fighter is all well and good, but being persistent to follow him and shoot him down when he's running home is not helping the team as much as hanging around the area and defending your objectives and friendly bombers, which of course come before everything else. The biggest issue I see with fighters is they get greedy for kills and forget the objective of the mission. Usually when I go fighter, I aim to hit the enemy and once they are damaged and run away I leave them be and let them go home, so long as they're not in the battlefield then they are not causing harm. But that's just me, regardless, good flying.

yes. Many eventually will go down, anyway.

Especially when you are escorting friendly planes. Another big issue with chasing enemy fighters is you don’t know when there will be an enemy squadron popping up and diving down on you.

Nice video. Good sensible advice though I think you did pull some unnecessary Gs a couple of times when not in combat. None of us are saints:-) I learned the value of the Overhead Landing after getting killed in the circuit with wheels & flaps down when I thought I was home & safe - Doh! If nothing else the flak will alert you to an enemies presence while you are still fast and with your wheels & flaps up :-)

Excellent video. You kept pointing out targets as 109s. They look like little grey Xs to me. How do you do it. I'm afraid of shooting at friendlies.
@mbowski4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ray. I’m glad you liked the video. When it comes to aircraft recognition it’s never easy with the resolution and view distance we fly in simulators. With that said. If you fly enough you’ll be able to make out characteristic shapes of aircraft even in that “little gray X” you see. Wing shapes, tail shapes, position of elevators and so on. Just keep flying and try not to kill your buddies :)

how do you move the camera around so quickly and precise while using your joystick?

Geyote Pilkington . Im using a Device called Track IR. It tracks your head movement via little camera mounted on my monitor and sensors attached to my headphones. Link below. www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/trackir5/

I’m flying Yak1B in this video. TBH I haven’t flown in two years in IL2 . There has been many changes to Flight Model and many AC addition since I’ve flown. Just try them all and see what feels right for you. Try the Spitfire

Why did you say "Trim, trim" while you're in the middle of chasing a target at 16:02? Why would you be worried about trimming at that very moment? Can someone please explain?
@mbowski5 жыл бұрын
Thanx for your comment. I do tend to trim with every power setting change. In this example I lowered the power setting to avoid an overshoot thus making the nose to sink. I trimmed the aircraft to have more stable gun platform. Hope that explains it.
@PopperNazi5 жыл бұрын
@@mbowski Ahh, to create a more stable gun platform. Thank you for taking the time to explain! Really enjoying your videos.
