Three other tracks from this game that you absolutely need to listen and react to are "Lullaby Of The Giants", "The Stone Mason", and "Echoes Of An Old Life". And for the third one, you NEED to listen to any version that says "full in-game version" in the title.

FYI the lyrics are (from what I remember) mostly in Icelandic, since it's the language that is still closest to what Old Norse would have sounded like.
@phntmthf55053 күн бұрын
I thought they were straight up in Old Norse, since we have a fair bit of it in writing and a solid idea of how it sounds
@timwhitman32077 күн бұрын
Something that you'll miss out on just listening to the soundtrack as full songs (you def need to play God of War on your husband's new PS5, Emily) is the way the main theme is used at specific moments throughout the game. Kratos is trying to hide who he is/was, both from himself and his son, and in the moments when his composure slips and he starts to fall back into his old, vengeful self, those first few chords play. Every. Single. Time. Those 3 notes symbolize rage. When you hear them, someone is going to die. Violently.
@Nitrinoxus8 күн бұрын
Valiant effort not getting emotional during 'Ashes', because it gets _me_ every time. It's the track that plays over the scene of Kratos and Atreus preparing and lighting the funeral pyre for Faye, the wife and mother whose ashes they're questing to deliver -- every time those high vocals come in, I'm brought back to the moments I've had to say goodbye to those closest to me. I dunno if the _God of War_ franchise is up your alley, but it's on PS5 as well if you decide you want to see some of these tracks in-context too!

Literally the first 20 seconds…stunned silence and one word….woah…..yup basically summarized the entire GOW series
@natotater2 күн бұрын
"Valkyries" plays during perhaps one of the most difficult optional boss fights ever conceived. Throughout the game you can fight a series of Valkyries, each with some unique twist to their attacks. Eventually, once you've defeated them all, you face off against Sigrun, the Queen of the Valkyries, who has every single unique attack that the previous Valkyries had. So by the time you face her, you've learned how to deal with all of these moves, but figuring out how to deal with all of them at once is absolutely brutal and takes every ounce of concentration. It took me several days and probably 20-30 attempts to beat.

Kratos is Greek, not Roman. And this game is not actually a reboot, it is a direct sequel from the previews Greek games. In those games we follow Kratos in his younger ears in Greek with the respective Greek gods and characters. In this game he moved to the north after the events of the third game and decided to start again, meeting Nordic Gods and characters.

Major spoilers regarding the end of this game, to answer the question of why there's that erie bit at the end of "The Summit" don't look if you plan on playing this game for yourself at any point Kratos and Atreus reach where Faye (the mother) wants her ashes to be spread, there they see a big lore wall carved by the Jotunn (or Giants) depicting the journey through the realms before K&A embarked on it, discovering that Faye herself was of this race, a fact she never divulged to them - making Atreus part Jotunn, part Demigod (Kratos is half human, half god). When spreading the ashes during this song Atreus questions the name the Jotunn gave him, the one his mother had for him - Loki, who in mythology is the Norse God of Mischief that is pretty instrumental in bringing about Ragnarok - a Nordic version of the apocalypse, thus, the erie music playing at that name drop.
