This is a FMCSA issue. Period ! They have been allowing interpreters to help with written exams and testing for non English speaking individuals. This is against their own guidelines. I experienced an incident first hand. Got called in the scale house to see paperwork. While the gentleman helping me, a non English speaking individual pulled onto the scale. The woman at the scale window spoke clearly over the speaker for the driver to pull up. He didn't. He didn't understand. She then went outside and motioned him forward. Came back inside, and the said over the speaker, next axle. He didn't move again. At this time, the gentleman helping me spole up and said just let him go on. She went outside and motioned for him to go on. With that being said, the language barrier has become a real issue but works in the non English speaking individuals favor. He gets to go on down the road, no questions ask. While me, an American citizen whom speaks English and is running a legit company is being questioned. These scale houses should walk outside and ask then to read this card, and if they can't, park it and suspend their license. Period. It has to stop. This is way out of control and is killing the trucking industry. Rates, insurance, everything. Lawsuits need to be filed against the fmcsa and every state who has issued cdl licenses to non English speaking individuals. It is a crime. Hold some people accountable

Hello Miranda. I am so glad to hear your opinion in regard to this post. I can only speak for myself. I feel that we need legal immigration. It helps all in favor of looking to better their lives and start a new, but it also helps the markets with new available talent. My concern is what it is projecting to those coming here legally. Folks that come here legally have a process and cost they have to agree with to vet and process. Those coming here illegally more or less skipping the line to keep it simple and not be vetted. It's tarnishing the process and, more or less, saying screw the system, we will take what we want with no regard to our system. I believe there are bigger gains in play here that we are overlooking. The problem with Oregon is that if it passes, it will be picked up by all the Megas to justify paying drivers less and then, it will trickle down to all carriers! As always they are trying to find ways to drive us small companies out so they can have only 4 or 5 Maga carriers. That's why Oregon is doing it. Illegal immigration is a problem but our biggest problem is when our government allows foreign companies to come in and haul cheap freight. Just in the past 3 weeks I've seen trucks from Mexico as far as Chicago and Detroit. Another issue is companies that have operating authority in the US and Canada bring drivers down and they haul freight all over the country when they are supposed to haul in and haul straight out. I've talked to many drivers over the years that have done this. Thank you for all you are doing. We appreciate it. Have a blessed one

As a Canadian carrier doing 95% of my business in the lower 48 I too share your concern!!! Our company runs BY THE BOOK with ZERO INTERSTATING (point to point within USA). We have a very solid customer base over our 40 years of operating legally and respecting USA LAW so this keeps our Western Canada Based company with 40 trucks as busy as we want, despite the downturn. INTEGRITY WINS EVERYTIME..... that's the True Canadian Way. Be careful however of the East Indian Canadian trucks as they will rob, steal, and cheat US Carrier loads away and run point-to-point ALL DAY EVERY DAY.........Our company even pays 50k/year fees for our Mexican plates so we are able to deliver across the border INTO MEXICO so we ensure we can never be accused of Interstating. We even REPORT Canadian Interstating carriers to Homeland Security AND THEY DO FUCK ALL ABOUT IT so are as pissed as you Americans.

Biggest challenge and problem we have, is Mexican truckers supposedly allow to go 50 miles over the Mexican border, going all the way to Maine, where i found one with American and Mexican plates in his truck, asking for a truckstop to sleep, i do speak some Spanish and he told me to be very proud to be "helping" american colleagues for two years now, driving freight all over the place in the US. He told me to be earning $500 going from Tijuana to Maine and back, go figure. Who controls foreign drivers crossing the border? How much taxes they pay in the US? How many of them are doing that in the US? How many US drivers are paying for this fiasco? Laws? For who?.

We are California Carrier. Last year, another company driver hit our truck, so we exchanged insurance and driver's license information with the other driver. Fortunately, the damage wasn't severe, so we didn't have to report it. However, the important part is that we took a picture of the other driver's California-issued ID. Surprisingly, his last name said "No Given Name." Although the driver's license stated that the gentleman was 26 years old, based on his picture, he looked at least 45. We are competing against companies that constantly cheat the system.

You should check the produce market up here in PA, NJ and NY. The most of the fully legal carriers have been force to move to other types of freight or even close down because we have a couple of mexican-owned companies that have taken over. Drivers with no cdl’s, trucks that are copies (running multiple trucks with the same titles, registration and plates) and even running fully with no type of insurance.

@Saidoromo20246 ай бұрын
It used to be that companies would responsibly hire foreign workers for seasonal jobs, but now temp agencies, in their infinite wisdom, are flooding the market with tens of thousands of foreign truck drivers over the past 15 years. We've gone from hiring drivers mostly from Mexico and Spanish-speaking regions to now scraping the bottom of the barrel from all over the world. Most of these drivers are being abused, overworked, unpaid, and essentially held hostage under the constant threat of deportation. This is a huge issue for American companies that are actually trying to make money from decent freight rates. It’s decimating jobs for American drivers. Predictably, this will lead to more accidents and numerous unreported issues. Let's not forget the massive monopolies formed by a handful of large brokers and carriers who dominate shipping contracts, taking wholesale freight contracts and then reselling them to the market at much cheaper rates to maximize their profits. It’s absolutely terrifying to think that unlicensed truck drivers are speeding down highways with 80,000-pound loads at 75 miles per hour. Everyone’s life is just a second away from being endangered. If they insist on importing foreign drivers, the least they could do is ensure proper training. Many people are dying in horrific accidents daily because of this reckless situation. Meanwhile, insurance rates are skyrocketing, becoming utterly unaffordable for smaller carriers. Bravo to the masterminds behind this mess.

thank you for the video, good topic. the problem is the system that allows to do that, its not just the greedy people. the same thing with edited logs. everybody knows about them, everybody does that, because there are different different ways to roll more miles than you are initially suppoes to, but when a tragedy appears it's always the people to blame instead of the system/gov. all of the major bills that were accepted last year (the example - the mandatory speed-limiters for trucks) really were bills against us. i mean, it looks like they care, but they dont. and they do everything to make our lives harder, to reduce the number of ACTIVE drivers, to reduce the number of carriers/brokerages and to leave only, lets say, 10 major logistic companies that are fully automated, basically they won't need drivers, carriers and brokers in the future XD and they start this cleanse with overblowing the market of drivers, thats why they need an AD in Mass Media that there's a shortage of drivers, so a lot of people would lease a truck, so they already owe money to the banks/gov. and then you need to break the market, so there's a lot of reasons for the current situation. so we've got a lot of bankrupcies now. a lot of drivers are on negative now. now they owe the banks/gov. more. what was the anti-record for the past year? 2800 carriers in one week after a Thanksgiving day, wasnt it? do you think FMSCA doesn't know that Mexican and Canadian driver are driving all around the US? do you think FMCSA doesn't know that you can basically buy a CDL for $$$ in some states, or you can get one without knowing even BASIC ENGLISH? do you think FMSCA doesn't know that you can use a virtual address or you can make up some BS papers and you'll be able to open your own USDOT/MC, and you can do it from any part of the world. Who knows if they even pay taxes or not. There's really too much happening, I'm sure they know. But do we know that they know? And do we know that? Hm...

I hope you see my question or if you made another video that is please send it to me. When you’re leasing on to a carrier, what should be in the contract? Should it just be that you’re leasing on or should all the small details being in there like the percentage, etc.

Very interesting, not enough enforcement anymore. I see so many truck drivers doing stupid dangerous things, mostly immigrants too. So sad, I think thay are forced into driving and just don't care ??? Not sure what the answer is ??? Also, Mega Carriers are running driver mills, they have no concern for safety either. I'm not bashing immigrates !!! Thanks Miranda !

Anyone remember the highway watch program after 9 / 11 ? It was a partnership of the Dot and the ATA that was funded until 2011 and a few people made a very high level income for about nine years. Every foreign appearing person in a truck was to be under the highest level scrutiny for strange behavior or aggressive moves on the roads. Now they have flipped the script and allow these people to run wild with encouragement from the highest levels. 😂🤔🤯. Don't believe the evidence from your own eyes and ears was their final most essential command. The great replacement is a fact like the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

same thing happening in canada too employers bring drivers from middle east and india on LMIA(labor market impact assessment) and they dont pay them properly so companies cutting rates so badly coz they are not paying them so its damaging the whole market…canada is more fucked up than USA…but looks like the amount of illegal immigrants coming from borders things will be same both sides
@Stanley_Furley6 ай бұрын
Canada Gov't subsidizes 50% of those LMIA drivers wages for one year. That's why they don't hire White, capable Born Canadians to drive because the Gov't rewards this companies for NOT HIRING Canadians!!! America, you think Biden is fucked up check out our Klown Justin Trudeau.

I have no problem with immigrants.In fact it makes me proud my country is powerful enough and prosperous enough to handle this.However,if someone wants to hire an ILLEGAL immigrant they should have to pass a mental aptitude tests so they can read the road signs,know the laws,rules, regulations,and safety practices,and be able to communicate at least enough to understand and respond to DOT and law enforcement.If not,they should be confined to local farm trucking and stick to farm roads.And NO,they shouldn't be paid so low that it undercuts American truckers.
@nicureality14275 ай бұрын
It's verry simple, look into Oregon state big companies of trucking that need drivers, maybe like Central Oregon or others, they have some one in the politics and can get an exemption that way putting legal workers out of the way...So nothing personal just business and coruption maybe.

Oh, surprise. I worked for a tree farm company years ago. That company had individuals who were classified as farm labor and others classified as production workers. During off-season, individuals could volunteer to assist the other classified employees to avoid layoffs and unemployment. Even though we volunteered, the classification didn't change. But that's not what put them out of business. Customers don't want mold and mushrooms in mulch. The point is that loopholes have a small benefit to employees and save money for companies. That isn't illegal. The driver mentioned volunteered to keep working. And on the immigrants issue. ATA made another error in trying to increase revenue, causing the negative impact on the industry. And government uses the Backdoor Immigrants in their power struggle as pawns. Not their fault, they are just trying to survive. The most common propaganda point is doing what Americans won't. Picking tomatoes or picking cotton is the same and immoral point.

I grew up in the orchard industry in Central Washington. Before the open border policy to Mexico was realized in the 1970's. Orchards all over the western states and the farms of different crops depended upon the poor southern state migrants who were citizens of this country. They were infact the migrant workers who did work in the jobs others did not want to except for those who actually owned the farms. The same argument of there is a worker shortage opened the door for the border to open and flood the states with workers who would work for less wages. Before this wages were still small but better than the immigrant pay. It sounds like to me with the state of Oregon they are trying to recreate this "shortage of workers" in the trucking industry to drive wages down, and profits up for the companies. And again when you have these influx of 1st generation illegals you have great workers. It's usually the second generation and so on that create these lawless ideas and societal norms that end up harming US citizens and businesses. All due to liberals who are the ones who want this to take place to literally continue this slave mentality that has taken place for a couple hundred years in this country. The idea of less wages, and more profits is exactly what was done in this country prior to the Civil War and has been continuing to happen after. The states just get more political, and bastardize the American worker who is either a born citizen, or a citizen of legal means, to be pushed away for less wages, and non regulated peoples, businesses, and ideologies that are harmful to everyday people of all spectrums. This is just another way to expedite the laws for selfish gains. Oregon needs to be sued for this request and all future requests to continue this slavery ideology. 2 cents.

The immigration issue is loose for many reasons. And most of those reasons are really not good for the citizens of the country. 1: higher housing costs and higher inflation due to higher population. 2. Lower wage growth. Due to more demand for employment, more workers. And also as in the trucking business lowers the cost of labor. Both of these directly benefit the government and the corporation. More tax receipts and higher demand for product, causing higher profits. However, it puts the poor and the working class in a really bad spot. Many countries simply do not allow this to happen. IE they protect their workforce

Hey, Miranda! “One time exception opens a door to a snowball effect” principle is universally applicable in both directions, law liberalization and law stiffening. The first one tends to turn into unlawfulness anarchy type and the latter has a tendency to transform into unlawfulness dictatorship type. Chose which one you like more.

This is a very complicated issue that has no easy fix. On one hand, the Ron DeSantis approach of "fk them all round them up like cattle" would be almost impossible and would cause devastating effects to the economy. On the other hand, we can't just have open borders and let everyone swarm in. One hard reality that we have to realize is that we are in a population decline, almost collapse. People don't want to have kids in this economy. That will lead to issues in the future as the workforce ages and the next generation is inadequate to support our needs. Currently the U.S. fertility rate stands at 1.78 births per woman which falls short of the necessary 2.1 just to sustain the current population. It's just a matter of finding the sweet spot of HOW MUCH we let in. As a millennial I'm very concerned as to how the landscape will be when (and if) I get to my golden years.
@richcherwalk63496 ай бұрын
Yes the billionaire class refuses to allow livable wages so Americans stopped having kids so they brought in immigrants, it's all about preventing inflation so the ruling elite can continually make compound interest on their investments. Outsource jobs or import working slaves either way their greed has no end and we are very close to 3rd world standards for masses.

Unfortunately because of the insane political situation alot of laws are not being inforced as should be. And it's not fair right or legal for those who play by the rules. Especially immigrants who may have took up to several years to become an American citizen. Being illegal takes money jobs and food from the table for those who do this for a living. But again because of the sicking politics .and whoever can be bought it seems . No one cares and that quite frankly is adding more danger to an already dangerous career. Especially flatbed. I see a lot of speeding. And had a close call last year in Austin because another driver was in a big hurry to get ten feet in front of me only to come to complete stop not even 30 seconds later. Set the collision mitigation off. Caused my load to shift thankfully I always try to leave myself an out for these situations . After the scare subsided I tried to confront the guy. Via CB. But was told to shut the f:;*" up! .but it's more disgusting and makes me extremely angry when I see drivers not obey school buses when they stop. Shows no concern or care for the little ones. The laws must be enforced. There are righteous reasons for the rules.
