A recent poll on Reddit about “what’s your top 5 band maid songs?” Returned 83 different songs from only around 100 people. So it’s difficult to recommend. Haha. Basically almost all their 100+ songs are great.

New? BAND MAID was formed in 2013 :) . People will request a LOT of very DIFFERENT songs as they have a catalog about 115 songs deep. You will also see LOTS of people comment that there is not a bad song among them. While that may be hard to believe at first, it IS true. If you are a fan of bands that are diverse but mainly play in the genre of HARD ROCK you will not find a finer current band than our MAIDs. Yes, all of rock and roll is being saved by 5 young Japanese women dressed as MAIDs ;) . Some folks refer to them as the "happiest band on the planet". BAND MAID is: Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals (Band founder, lyricist ... official Spokespigeon, po!) Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess) Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla) Misa - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor on stage, typically does not wear shoes while performing, usually shy and quiet - the barefoot assassin) Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination ... the Queen) This song is fairly simple but the girls love to play it live - it is AKA Akanes drum solo song - every single one of these girls plays their chosen instrument at a virtuoso level. Notice through Akane's solo, she never leaves the beat ...and none of it repeats. This is why the rest of the girls can seamlessly join back in. The lead guitarists instrument is a Paul Reed Smith. All of the girls now have sponsorship mostly due to being known for their awesome musical abilities and talent MIKU plays Zemaitis Guitars (A fine and rare Japanese brand) through EVH amplification Kanami plays Paul Reed Smith (PRS) through Mesa Boogie amplification and uses a lot of Morley pedals Akane plays TAMA drums MISA (MISA MISA) plays Black Cloud Basses through Orange amplification Saiki was using a Sennheiser mic here but has recently switched to DPA I would recommend their latest release because it shows the bands diversity in music. The release is actually of 2 songs - MANNERS and BLACK HOLE. Their latest album is divided in much the same way, some more traditional hard rock for older fans who have been around since the beginning, and prog rock for the bands direction in the future. I'll leave it at that because many more of my fellow Maidiacs will be dropping by with suggestions ;) .

@@jacquelinevanbierk Just teasing you. It seems a lot of the fandom has discovered this band in the last 2 or three years then exclaim, "WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!?" If you were not a reactor you would likely find yourself binge watching BAND MAID vids for the next several days. Every song you listen to will be your "favorite BAND MAID song" ... until the next. As stated this is a fairly simple song ... most BAND MAID material is fairly complex ... some of it is very complex and will require several listens to completely get your head around (NO GOD for example). Unfortunately a lot of their old music is no longer available on KZbin. However their breakout hit that started it all still is - a song called THRILL ... the Music Video, NOT the latest LIVE version. That is where their worldwide popularity all began. Another simple song but if you want to see it all stripped back to the beginning, that is where it's at.

One small point, Kanami (lead guitar) is using a PRS guitar. But, the top three songs? Ask four fans and they will give you five different answers because the band's range is so wide it's near on impossible to narrow it down to just three songs, and Fan Number 1 will have changed their mind by the time Fan Number 4 has given you their top three! However, as a rough guide, their quieter songs are numbers like About Us, Daydreaming and Start Over, full throttle sees you into songs like Rinne, Black Hole and Real Existance, and stuff along the same sort of lines as Freedom would be Domination, Onset (an instrumental) and Thrill (their breakthrough song/ video). Good luck in finding something you don't like!

This Band is real diverse in the type of rock music they play, some of it is a bit rocky like this, others is down right jazzy and some are Metal... I would check out Real Existence Live, Domination Live , Wonderland, and Blooming these are all great songs.

THE best live Rock band on Earth. Every single song is good. Yes, they look cute as you mentioned 3 times in the first minute and adorable as you mentioned twice in the first 3 minutes but, much more importantly, they write and play and sing and perform all their own songs and are as excellent live as any band I have ever seen in 46 years of enjoying live Rock bands. 🤘🤘

Thanks for reacting, formed in 2013 by Rhythn Guitarist and vocalist Miku Kobato. Seven Major releases so far three mini albums and four full albums with the last released Digitally on the 13th January this year With a Physical release on the 20th January 2021. The idea behind the band is the contrast between the visuals and then the sound and also the sound and the lyrics. Members (ages between 24 to 30) Akane Hirose ;- Drums (A-chan. the beast,Gorilla) Saiki Atsume :- Vocals (Sai-chan) MISA :- Bass :- (the Assasin. Misa, Misa, Misa) Kanami Tono :- Guitars (Mincho, main songwriter) Miku Kobato :- Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist (Small Pigeon, wide shoulders, strong grip, Karuppo) Kobato in Japanese can be interpreted as small pigeon and Miku never met a pun she didn't like or a chance to mess with peoples heads Po!!. Also they have a slightly twisted sense of humour, for example the single Alone was released on Valentines day, and for the last two years on April fools day they rename themselves, the bands social media as Band Maiko where they dress as apprentice geisha's and release a video of a song written in the geisha dialect with some traditional instruments in it. Relentless live band due to having played basically anywhere they could plug in they also tend to add extra parts to the songs live , The costumes might have got their foot in the door but they have earned what they have gotten the old fashioned way, Worked hard, Toured hard, and constantly look to improve. Yes the drummer, Akane, is exceptional. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) rates her highly. Personal favourite is Black Hole. Thank goodness you're back to real bands.

It's always great to see reactors so excited seeing B-M for the first time. Love your positive reaction. They are a phenomenal band. Over 100 great song in their discography. Not a single dud. Your journey will be wonderful if you decide to descend in this pigeon hole. As you can see they are great live. Normally I would just recommend all, but if I have to choose, I'd say continue with the live ones such as "Domination", and "Play". For more recent ones I suggest "Warning!" , "Manners" and "After Life". Oh let's not forget their very first MV "Thrill". You have to see where it all started. Okay that's more than 3 but it's really very hard to just pick 3 😁

I suggested live Domination or Freedom on one of your Lovebites reactions knowing you would love these girls. Live songs you should check out are Domination, Real Existence, Play, Choose me, Onset or maybe the new release double header Manners with Black Hole which shows 2 completely different sides of the band. For MV's I suggest Warning, Daydreaming, Dice, Thrill(their very first MV) or any others there are no bad songs. sorry asking a Band-Maid fan to pick 3 top songs is an almost impossibility as they can change daily lol I loved your reaction, you would definitely have an amazing time at one of their shows.

Their BEST song ???..... Not by a long shot. But it is a fan/band favourite. A Band Maid concert would not be the same if Freedom wasn't part of the playlist. As for their BEST??? We'll save that (it's very subjective), however I think Domination (live- same concert), Warning (This year), Thrill (their first MV) and Daydreaming (power Ballad) - all on KZbin. If you are still with us after that, then the other 100+ songs they have...... and I haven't even given you (IMO) their best.

It's hard to give suggestions because they are all good! No joke. Hit machines! Domination live is probably the most similar and maybe more iconic for them. They go mainly harder from this and a few slower. For live shows I'd suggest Domination, Play, Onset (instrumental). For MV anything. They are all good. My favorites though are Dice, Different, Manners, Real Existence.

Freedom is about personal freedom... she's saying (to paraphrase) "I am me, I go my own way, either accept me as I am or go away!" Defiant yet joyous! This was an early one but fun and they love playing it. It was from the days management had not accepted lead guitarist Kanami composing yet so someone else supplied the melody (she composes all their stuff now), but second guitarist (red rose in hair) Miku had persuaded them to let her contribute, so she wrote the lyrics on this. They constantly play around with doing different intros and additions to their older songs like this to keep it interesting. Others have observed that they gave Freedom alone at least three different treatments on tour in 2019. They are a freaking great live band, they love working with an audience. Some of their tunes include audience participation BTW. Best is very subjective. "Manners" is relatively recent, all about their journey as a band, and the MV is loaded with symbolism and references. They all show a few new things we hadn't heard before. "About Us" - the "Us" is not only the band but also about their audience and how they miss so badly being with us in concert during lockdowns and restrictions, but also trying to encourage, that we will get through this and be together again. Very emotional song. Anything from this live show at Shibuya February 14, 2020 is good. I especially love Domination and Onset (which is instrumental). "The Dragon Cries" is somewhat controversial. It is different. I like it, when in the right mood.

Yes, Band-Maid is another awesome Japanese all-female rock band and they also shine in their live performances. They sing in Japanese with some verses in English. They’re so talented, skillful and adorable. Song suggestions: “Domination”, “Onset”, “Dice”, “Moratorium”, “Take me higher”, “Don’t you tell me”, “Manners”, “Daydreaming”, “Thrill”, “Real existence”, “Wonderland”, etc. (all live if possible). Other excellent all-female Japanese rock bands are Nemophila (songs “Raitei”, “Dissension”, “Life”), Fate gear, Aldious, Trident, Mary’s blood, etc. Other excellent Japanese rock bands are Galneryus, Wagakki band, Unlucky Morpheus, Quadratum, Versailles, Jupiter, Asterism, D_Drive, etc. Many people say that rock is not dead, it just moved to Japan.

Reportedly he told her that she was like a reincarnation of John Bonham. For those who don't know, BAND-MAID played in the Classic Rock Awards 2016 and received the Japan Next Generation prize. Miku (rhythm guitar, backup singer) formed the band with "the gap" of the maid uniforms because she used to work in a traditional Japanese Maid cafe.. I always get a smile when I listen to Band Maid.. When they first started in 2013, labels wanted a catch, in Japan there is a thing called "the gap".. putting two unusual things together that shouldn't normally go together but getting something surprisingly great. So, five extremely talented female musicians in maid uniforms, playing kick ass hard rock music is theirs.. They have since taken full artistic control over their music and it keeps getting better..

Great reaction. Actually Kanami plays Paul Reed Smith (PRS) guitars not Gibsons. They are some of the most beautiful and great sounding guitars available today. They come at various price points so most guitarists can afford a PRS at a price they can afford. I bought one basically because Kanami plays them. I doubt that I will ever reach her level of ability, but I love my PRS.

You see Akane’s talent here on the drums then Kanami on lead but you’ve got Misa rolling on the bass line in the background. So much more to enjoy. These fabulous women aren’t young young. Saiki on lead vocals is 27. Misa,Kanami and Miku on rhythm guitar and vocals are 29 and Akane is 30. 5 women. Watch Real Existence live. Onset live. Domination live. MV’s. Daydreaming,Manners,Warning. Kanami is a great composer and you’ll see her diversity in these songs.

Band-Maid = lead guitar musical savant leading 4 musicians of genius level. They are far beyond rock band now, their live shows are legendary and unmatched by any other group on the planet. Watch where Kanami's unique talents take them. They are so talented that they can perform at top level for 2 hours and have fun all the time. They really are awesome ! Kanami plays a PRS guitar through a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier amp - the most powerful there is.

Good review. This performance of Freedom, one their earlier songs, is great. I always recommend to listen to their earlier music first as they have become much better musicians. I recommend their 1st video released called “Thrill”. Other good early songs are; “Don’t Let Me Down”, “Freezer”, “Real Existence”, “Moratorium”, & “Puzzle”. Actually, there are no bad songs from the ladies. You’ll do well following any of the suggestions in your comment section. I’m not exaggerating, Band Maid is the best band going. I’m glad you have been made aware of them.

Kanami Tono plays PRS guitars and, like me, uses Mesa Boogie amps. She's the main music writer. Miku Kobato (which isn't her real name) plays Zemaitis guitars and uses EVH amps. She's the main (only?) lyric writer. MISA plays Black Cloud bass guitars and uses Orange amps and rarely wears shoes live. Akane Hirose plays TAMA drums and Zildjian cymbals. Saiki Atsumi is the vocalist.
