First off I want to say thank you to Hasan for having our governor on, I was so happy to see him interviewed. I personally voted for JB Pritzker, and would happily do so again. The only thing I wish he would do more of is try to win over the people in the southern part of the state. I live in southern Illinois, I am much closer to Kentucky than I am to Chicago, and the majority of people here don't feel seen or heard by our state government. Many people from the southern part of the state believe we should split the state into northern and southern Illinois because they truly believe the state government only cares about and listens to people in Chicago. I personally don't believe that, but it is very rare for the governor or anyone in high state office to travel to southern Illinois to speak or visit. It is very isolating to be a Democrat down here and it is exhausting trying to convince people who only watch fox news that our governor is actually doing great things for our state. So anyway, I guess my point was I wish he would spend more energy and time trying to connect with the people in the southern half of the state but I still really like him and am glad he's our governor.

They still deserve a voice though. What Amanda is asking for isn't much it's just the bare minimum to be honest. They deserve some attention and love too. @@snow86241 I live in central Illinois and I've seen politics from every corner of this state. The people who live in rural areas have been out reached to constantly but always refuse any help. They live far up their own asses and I have to say are often some of the most racist, sexist and bigoted people you have ever met. Even more so than many places in the so-called bible belt. There is a map of sundown towns in America and an absurd number of them are in central and southern Illinois. Trust me when I say that most of rural Illinois are their own worst political enemies in every sense of the word. As JB said, they voted against a tax bill that would have lowered their taxes. They did so because the most wealthy Republican in the state told them to. They were literally offered tax relief on a silver platter and they refused to indulge. Essentially, without Chicago, Champaign and a few other cities Illinois would be redder than Indiana and poorer than Missouri.

Thanks to JB, our state’s credit rating has gone up 9 times! We’ve legalized weed, passed balanced budgets, expanded reproductive rights to the point where we’re now an abortion haven, and we’re only the 3rd state to pass mandatory paid leave for all workers. I was hesitant to vote for him the first time, but he’s been amazing, especially after our previous garbage Republican governor left the state a mess!

I didn’t click on this one.. just wasn’t interested in a billionaire pushing some crazy agenda.. or learning about another one.. right now What a relief that when I finally did click- it was good news. This dude is suspiciously decent

Goes to show that we really shouldn't pre-judge people. We should always judge them based on their merits. My grandfather always said he gave respect to everyone until they gave him a reason to retract his respect. I'm no fan of billionaires as a concept but I think the man's right Why not use the money he has to fight The way the Republicans can fight so we can hopefully change things so we don't have to fight like that anymore.

The first time I paid attention to politics was when trump won his bid to run in 2016. I saw this governor do amazing work in 2020. The minute he hates on Cheeto he won me over ..

JB is very down to earth has done what was promised. He is progressive has done a lot for Illinois. Got us out of debt when the last one tried to bankrupt the State to privatize it for his rich buddies. JB is not the typical billionaire. He is a solid man and I would cast my vote for him again.

I love this governor!! Why not use Illinois tax system for federal system?????? More money you make, more taxi pay less money, less, you make, you less!!! I like that system 😊
@fujinshuАй бұрын
You're going to need a lot more enforcement, though. Some billionaires will likely want to keep all the money they make, so they'll ship it off to other countries that NEED billionaires investing in them or else it collapses. The IRS needs more funding and a further bolstering of its forces so that they can bust tax dodgers. THEN it can be useful.
@annestewart5741Ай бұрын
That's what some have been trying to do & still are trying to do. They obviously have heavy opposition. So, some of the most wealthy have been giving away their money to help good causes, which helps us all in the end. I'm hopeful things will continue to improve, too. 🗳 💙 ☑️ 🌊

I live in the south and have never heard Governor Pritzker speak. All I knew about him was that he was a billionaire. I still believe that the only way you can become a billionaire is by taking advantage of other humans, but Prtizker does at least seem to be trying to pay it back. As funny as the "good guy with a billion dollars" joke was, the discussion did persuade me that, in a world with evil billionaires, it's nice to have some good ones around too, but I'd still much rather there weren't any around at all.

As someone who voted for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primaries in 2016, I will definitely vote for JB Pritzker over Bernie Sanders for president! 🇺🇸 I don’t understand why conservatives, especially conservative billionaires, don’t want our great country to do well. JB Pritzker has proven that it’s possible to be rich and still help your fellow man.
