xolotltolox If you’re referring to the digital color versions, they are official but they aren’t done by Araki. There have been various instances throughout all of JJBA where he does color pages though (which unfortunately aren’t included in most volume releases of the series, although the recent hardcovers have them and IIRC most of them are included in the digital color releases for Parts 7 and 8 [although weirdly the earlier parts mostly didn’t include them and instead recolored the scene to match the main palette they chose]) and each time he does that he tends to choose different palettes for the characters (compare for instance the first few pages of SBR Chapter 28 and 95, both of which were colored by Araki, the characters have completely different palettes in each). I don’t mean that each panel necessarily has its own palette or something like that, rather that each page or sequence of pages generally has a separately decided palette, in case that was unclear. I should note actually that Araki has done a few works in full color, specifically “Rohan at the Louvre” and his collaborations with Gucci.

I am glad that you covered Moebius. My older friend was a huge fan of his work in Heavy Metal magazine. At the time (mid 80s) I didn't really appreciate it. Since then, I have come to REALLY appreciate his work and have seen how he has influenced other artists with his style. I think you did a really good job of pointing out how some of his techniques are subtle, yet have a subconscious impact when looking at the panels. He did this in multiple ways. One of the first comic related posters that I bought to hang on my wall as a teen was Moebius's Iron Man. I never even read Iron Man and was a DC fan but I just really liked the illustrative style and use of the limited color pallet that also influenced me as an art student.

You should react to Jhonen Vasquez! If you don't already know, he's the creator of Invader Zim, as well as several comics like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, I Feel Sick (spin-off of Jthm), Squee (another spin-off), and others. He has a really unique style that I honestly take after a lot, with things like extremely thin bodies and large eyes that pop out of the head. It's a pretty weird style, but it's honestly really good (despite the fact that he literally has a book called the Bad Art Collection lmao).

in case you wanted to know how deep the Jean Giraud / Moebius influence is - he was there when Jodorowsky was prepping to do his doomed Dune movies, he created the spacesuits for Alien, the tron suits and environments for Tron (some of which were done by Syd Mead, but Giraud is all over them). His DNA is interspersed with so much of our sci-fi pop culture, it's amazing.

Also, you mention "archangel" on one cool page layout, but you were confused by his eyebeam. This is because it isn't archangel, bit rather the character "Mimic". If you like that first image you showed from "Seconds" you should take a look at Spanish artist Francisco Ibañez series "13, Rue del Percebe". Basically, the whole comic series is the concept of that image. Every page shows a building with the front wall missing and you can see what happens inside the different apartments, with one gag happening in each single apartment. The idea is brilliant and it's a lot of fun.

A great artist to look at for a manga episode would be Norihiro Yagi author of Angel Densetsu and Claymore. Some really amazing art in both series. The monsters in Claymore, especially the awakened ones and Abyssal Ones, were amazing. And while Angel Densetsu's art was rougher it really stands out with how the MC was drawn.

That Batman drawing looks like what araki would draw, it really reminded me of Esidisi's crying face

It's just "one" guy shooting at moonknight as he movies around him. The badguy uses all 6 bullets, hears the empty chamber "click" and awaits his fate. 1 bullet per panel, 1 empty chamber and his realization that he's screwed with panel 9 being his. Really cleaver all around.

Anyone else focus on his eyes as he discussed how creepy eyes are? Like, I could see the exact same glare he talks about in his eyes at 18:32.

I've seen everyone of "illustrator reacts" and I've really enjoyed every episode and I gotta say that there are 2 artists that I really wanna hear your opinion on. 1 is an artist I find one of the most euneack today which is Jhonen Vasquez. And one of my personal favorites who doesn't do comic art per say but is extremely beautiful "nogi san" (I have no idea what her full name is) keep up the good work man!

I see David Yardin almost every year. He is a cool artist and dude. I will never forget the time that he gave me a chocolate bar at my first convention.

When Bill Sienkiewicz started out, he was a diehard Neal Adams imitator, so he was a natural choice to do the art on a Batman imitation. Recent Neal Adams art seems to have come full circle, like a Bill Sienkiewicz imitation without Bill's current stylization.

I think a comic that surprised me with its layout was Arkham Asylum A Serious House On Serious Earth. The page of joker basically opening the door to the asylum shouldn't work but because of the circumstances and story presented in the comic it does even though when you look at it for the first time you may think its just weird or bad. You should check it out in one of your videos both for the art and the layout of the panels.

I would love to see you react to Atsushi Ohkubo's artwork. He's the creator of the Soul Eater and fire force mangas. He has a unique style that I could only describe as: quirky but twisted.

You should talk about Masamune Shirow's Art in Appleseed Book 4: particularly the knife fight between Deunan and a group of terrorists in a collapsing building and the gunfight leading to it. It's masterfully planned and executed both spatially and in the illusion of movement.
