Yeah, IK has been stepping up their game the last couple of years. I bought an IK Uno synth about a year ago for less than US$200, and it's probably the best analog monosynth I've ever used. Their synth line is awesome, and my girlfriend's iLoud bluetooth speakers are just awesome. If these monitors are even close to the rest of the hardware IK has been making, these will be my next set of monitors.

I’ve unfortunately had terrible luck with the mic-monitors. The tweeters only worked after a month of use on my first pair. IK multimedia was gracious enough to replace them with a second pair (just got them after a 2 month wait) and this pair does not “power” up. So I think I’m done with this company. Sounds like others have more positive results. Sucks because they do sound great (when they work).

While these are really nice and sound good too, they are no replacement for large monitors. As good as technology is, you can't ignore the laws of physics. Larges speaker drivers have a wider frequency response, especially on the low end. They're also less prone to distortion as well. Small drivers will usually distort when they have to reproduce low frequencies. I'm pretty sure the calibration does some sort of compensation for that.

I have the regular iLouds as a secondary pair to my Presonus Eris E5's. It's nice to be able to switch back and forth and compare the sound of the mix. If you would use two pairs of monitors what would your choise of difference in sound be? I wish there was a way to emulate the sound you get in a car. When your garage is a good walk away you could get too much exercise as a side effect, especially up here in the north of Sweden during winter when your 2 feet deep in drifting snow. Knulla dig (that is "fuck you" in Swedish) Glenn!
