I was told 6 years ago to try to go many days without washing as it was beneficial for hair health. I followed that advice and started using batisse dry shampoo to absorb the oil. I started to get really itchy in scalp and now I have eczema and hair loss. I think your scalp needs to be washed daily. I used to wash daily and never had issues it was only when I stopped that I developed this condition. Now I am battling this condition that has now spread behind skin on the neck, ears....and face.

I took several years to increase the time between washing my hair. Every year I would add a day. That gave my hair lots of time to adjust. Now was once per week. Double wash and silk pillow cases. Love the time and product savings!

I stopped washing my hair regularly about 8 years ago. Prior to that I was down to a few times a week. But then got sick of it (it is pretty long) so I was only washing it when I would put some henna on it every 3-4 months.Then last year I decided to never put anything on my hair again and have not washed my hair since. Very freeing. I do have one of those scalp massagers and I use a boar bristle brush now and then to gently brush the oils down my hair shaft but it looks and feels great. When I tell people I don't wash my hair they can't believe it. I was always oily and in the beginning it took a little while to adjust but eventually it did. I am never going back.

Double washing just strips the scalp of nutrishes oils, I agree with the woman from EU....your scalp and hair will adjust, and yes I have fine hair....I think as Americans we tend to "mess" with our hair too much(styling, heat, brushing, products)....most people are trained to think if their shampoo doesn't "sudds up" good it's not doing a good enough job cleaning (wrong)!!...

Ágnes! Can I suggest you cut it to the middle of your back (right at your bra line) before making an even bigger chop? I was in a similar situation and I had big regrets after the big chop and wished I would have "split the difference". I'm so much happier now that my hair has grown in to that bra line length. I can style it so many different ways and it looks thicker and doesn't just stick to my head. Another big change was having my stylist show me how to curl/wave my hair. Not just show me but allow me to take hold of the tools and have her guide me so I can repeat the look on my own. GAME CHANGER!! Good luck friend 💇🏻♀️

I have hair just like yours, but a little lighter in color. However, I’m a Tampa Bay native, and by day two I look like your day four! Dry shampoo used before bed worked amazingly well for me. Unfortunately, after a while it caused my scalp to develop eczema and I started shedding significantly more than usual. Every brand I tried caused the same issues. 😞

I’m so sorry to hear that!🥺 Maybe this will help! I use the boosting foam from Zotos all about curls. I pat it on my roots & scalp, it helps to mattify & prolongs wash day twice as long (2 weeks)! I haven’t tried other foams but sea salt spray works just as good but it drys my hair out over time. There’s also a dry shampoo foam! I haven’t tried this one. Best of luck & happy healing!🍀

I shampoo every 3 weeks & I don’t use dry shampoo! My secret weapon is the Boosting foam from Zotos all about curls, I pat that on my scalp & roots before adding the other stylers. Sea salt spray works too but it drys my hair out over time but they both mattify my scalp quite well & makes my wash day twice as long! Hope this helps! O, heres my hair type! My fine hair tip is to pull hair up to crown into a scrunchie or big flat pin curl before going to sleep. Next morning lots of volume. Actress girl friend pulls hair up into a ponytail on the crown facing the sky and then with a second coated elastic bends the ends upwards.....result volume at crown and ends flipped. Velcro gives good volume but don't forget heated rollers. Less damage,hands free whilst cooling. Silk scrunchie look good, would like to buy some. Could you try two different coloured scrunchies on crown ponytail up.....gives height and volume which the fabric contributes too ,very youthful look for this old lady . An instant face lift !!!!

I wouldn't think of not washing my face every day. The scalp is no different. It can get very clogged up. Especially using dry shampoo. This can cause hair loss. Just don't blow dry your hair everyday. And if you do, use a cool setting.
@reginapayton2 жыл бұрын
Actually the more you wash your hair the more oily it gets (the more oil your hair produces). People have to wash their hair everyday because they strip the oil from it and your scalp then produces more oil. I use to wash my hair everyday but now I wash it every 4 or 5 days. Your scalp will stop producing so much oil when you stop stripping it daily. I would gradually go to 2 days then 3, then 4 in between washes to let your scalp gradually change its oil production.
@marlarangeloff51632 жыл бұрын
@@reginapayton I have heard of "training" the scalp to not need washing everyday. Although it may work for some, it doesn't work for all. With today's pollution and stress, hair can see the effects. Like I said, the scalp is just above your face. Oil gets on your face, oil and dirt gets on your scalp. Maybe in winter.
@marlarangeloff51632 жыл бұрын
@@reginapaytonthen do you not wash your face every day either? Just trying to understand the reasoning behind it. Not judging, just curious. If that works for you that's great!
@reginapayton2 жыл бұрын
Yes you should wash your face everyday but do not strip the natural oil from your face in the process. That's why you face is oily, because you strip the natural oil and your skin has to go into productionmode to replace it. This is what I have read from top dermatologist.
@marlarangeloff51632 жыл бұрын
@@reginapayton everyone has different skin types. My dermatologist said to me because of my scalp issues, don't skip a day washing your hair. He is right. When I tried to train my scalp my issues were 4 times worse. I don't find it so difficult to wash hair every day. I don't know why anyone who washes everything else every day, wouldn't wash their hair. Makes no sense. It's not like you have to use a super stripping shampoo. Just be clean. Head to toe.

I'm wondering what was your reason for choosing MDhair vs. the many others out there. i need to read up more on this company. I've been taking Nutrafol supplements for about 4 years and it helped my hair tremendously until COVID this past Summer combined with taking Prednisone (causes hair loss) for recent new autoimmune disease that began in 2022 and I lost more than 1/2 my hair. I was looking at Vegamour, Virtue and Harlinikken and about to try Virtue tomorrow. I trust you made the right choice so I'm wondering what sets it apart. Ive found i wash at night ( something i never did) let it mostly dry, rough dry with dryer, and put into a loose very high pony to sleep. Next morning smooth and voluminous. No wash night same pony but dry shampoo before putting up. Then i can style with body any way I choose in the am , of course I spend lots of time on KZbin learning how to style all the time. I am a big fan of your channel ❤

Thank you for the great comment and insight! That sounds like an awesome hair plan for you! If it's working, then you should stick with it! Hair is such a personal thing and we can take tips and tricks from other people and then use those to see what works the best for our lifestyle, hair type and routine. :)

Careful with this folks! I got a hair fungus and suffered pain in my scalp for ages by doing this. The longest I can to between washing’s is 1 day and I have to use an anti fungal shampoo on occasion. Can also cause dandruff or folliculitis. Don’t be like me and not be able to pull back your hair for years due to pain! Wash your hair if you need to, not cause it’s a fad.

You had other inflammatory things going on in your body that was the true cause. One does not suffer “pain” in the scalp from missing a day or two of washing there hair. Doesn’t work that way.

@@gabriellagrace4734 Interesting how you can diagnose their condition with such certainty through the internet. It sounds like SR K was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis (a fungal issue caused by irregular washing), so it's probably best they listen to their doctor regarding their washing habits.

Great looks. 👏👏😍 Your hair doesn’t look fine at all, by the way, especially compared to mine…🙈😄 Anyway, I’ll try one of your ideas tomorrow. You know, I’ve been thinking about name, it sounds sort of German… is it?

Is Lily Silk vegan? Also, does using a comb in the shower really make a difference? I have fine hair, by the way. Or thin hair. I’m not sure what the difference is between fine and thin hair. Lol. 🤔

If I left my hair for 4 days it would be filthy! Gets greasy next day.

I have a decent amount of density but the individual texture of the hair itself is pretty fine.
