Sad to see this. I was really into aquariums as a teen but never had the funds to fulfill my fantasy of a river aquarium of white clouds and hillstream loaches, so this was like a dream come true. Maybe time to get back into the hobby...

You could try a cold water community tank, danios, white clouds, rosy barbs.
@IMaqua2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had white clouds and I moved them to my other Hillstream I did recently. This aquarium is currently empty and still brainstorming what to do with it.
@yifanyin98452 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have some suggestions for a nano No filter, No heater and No ferts fish: These can live perfectly in above 18c. Cherry and amano shrimp All types of danios, dario danio is cool Most types of pygmy sunfish Most shiner fish like rainbow shiner Some types of killifish like clown killi Certain barbs like odessa, gold, rosy barbs Wild type guppies/ endlers? White clouds and paradise gourami and empire gudgeon. Clean up fish are: Hill stream loaches, asian stone catfish, dojo loach for big aquariums and few species of corydoras like the panda cory. In my opinion for a smaller tank, you could get a pair of pertty Gudgeons, dario danios, or paradise gourami along with a small group of smaller fish like odessa barbs, zebra danios, killifish or shiners. Two panda cory along with some amanos will be awesome. I personally think 2 paradise gourami, 5 rainbow shiner (or similar), 2 panda cory (or similar) with a few amano shrimp will be best.
@IMaqua2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for suggesting. I have considered some of the fish and some not. But will take all your suggestions in consideration.

Shiners are not available where I live at (Europe) and even getting gouramis is a challenge. Unfortunately the country I live at is not really developed in aquarium hobby and getting any kind of fish is challenge. But as always I am doing my best.

Sorry to hear about the goby passing... good news is you'll probably have the other two for 10-15 years with good care. they end up becoming pets and not just "fish." they live forever and have big personalities. my oldest sicyopus zosterophorus is going on 12 or 13, eyes have started to turn cloudy he's so old. have a 12+ year old stiphodon ornatus too, and he's over 4" which isn't supposed to happen. gobies really thrive in a big colony. the females of all the species aren't anything special to look at, but if you can find them, buy them. you'll get amazing behavior out of the males when girls are around. one thing you should do with the next version of the hillstream aquarium is to seed the substrate with either black worms or bloodworms. they'll dig for them, and there will always be a food source in the aquarium for them in between feedings! love your videos!
@IMaqua2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Samuel. I remember your comment from a while ago. Actually the 2nd one also passed away from the same reason. 3rd one (plump one) is going strong since I got him, I think its almost 6 months now if I am not mistaken. I really don't know...only thing I can think of is they didn't really acclimatise well. He is really special, my favourite fish. I already made new Hillstream (video will be out soon). New fishroom build and tour will be published in few days. Cheers

@@IMaqua Oh no... sorry to hear about the other 😕. it's like a dog or cat dying for me when I lose one. Most of the time they're riddled with parasites on import, and retailers don't take the time to thoroughly de-worm them-and by the time you get them they're too far gone in some cases. I'll give you my de-worming protocol if you want. all the sicyadiinae genuses seem to be immune to mycobacterium (fish tb), so that's one thing you can rule out. look into lentipes, stiphodon, sicyopterus and rhinogobius genuses too. all these genuses naturally occur together, in extremely high densities, and thrive together in a mixed species aquarium. the more gobies you have, the more they color up, and the happier they'll be. there are some other tricks, specifically some dither fish species, that get them to color up. my general rule for stocking gobies is 2/gallon, with good filtration and weekly water changes. you seem like an advanced hobbyist, so you probably already know this. if you want to "talk gobies" I'll give you my email and share whatever knowledge I have/answer any questions.
@IMaqua2 жыл бұрын
Definitely do leave your email, if I ever do need something goby - related I will shoot you an email. I am not getting more of Red Lipsticks, although I like them. They are extremely expensive and I don't wanna pass trough this again. One is healthy and I hope he we will live at least 12 years. For the new Hillstream I will move only part of the fish from this aquarium and definitely add some new. I will go with Blue neon goby (and Red if I can get my hands on). They are smaller; also I have previous experience with them and never had any issues.
@samueljosephfernald46632 жыл бұрын
@@IMaqua samuelfernald@gmail.com. Any of the pseudomugils make amazing dither fish for a hillstream with gobies. Gobies are very responsive to the colors yellow and red. I’d suggest Pseudomugil furcatus for the next rendition of the aquarium to get the lipstick goby to be in full orange dress. Most people on the internet are idiots and say pseudos don’t like flow, but they do. They just repeat untrue info they’ve read somewhere. They’re drift feeders and move in and out of areas with high flow and thrive in temps 20c-25c. Can’t wait to see what you do next!

I will be moving soon to new fishroom with...lets say many tanks. Will publish build video and fish room tour of the new place beginning of July. Also Hillstream version II will be out soon. For inspiration mostly I like to use few places. Definitely most used is website biotope-aquarium.info with some amazing biotope aquariums. Also there are a lot of nice aquariums on Pintrest and Reddit. And thats about it.
@Dassenkop2 жыл бұрын
Thx for the tip for inspiration. I hope to build my new tank in July. Will be using substrate from existing tank and some other materials so I can do a fish-in cycle.
