That’s so interesting that a lot of the preparations or festivities include cleaning and cleansing, charging crystals, preparing your altar, etc. because I’ve been intuitively already doing this, especially with last nights full moon it gave me a nudge! 💖

Congrats on 50k!! This will be my first year doing something for (and even being aware of) Imbolc. :) If anyone wants any ideas for cooking, I'm planning on having a block of feta cheese brushed with honey and torched on herb-seasoned bread, a side of carrots (bc fire-colored) and parsnips candied with honey and cinnamon, and lemon custard cake (more dairy) with poppy seeds and blackberries. I'm also going to plant my indoor herb garden that day. 😊

I'm American so I'll explain groundhog day quickly. On this day, we watch to see if one specific groundhog (current one is punxsutawney phil) gets "scared by his shadow" or not. If he does, he runs back into his home, and this means 6 more weeks of winter. If he is not scared and stays out, it means spring is coming early. The town of Punxsutawney has a whole festival either way and the whole country tunes in! ❤️
@einin87524 жыл бұрын
To me that’s... honestly so bizarre. It sounds like it could be wholesome though haha
@veganprincess88204 жыл бұрын
Lol the whole country does not tune in. Most people don't care about groundhog day. Nobody I know even believes in it.

@@veganprincess8820 I mean it as in it's broadcasted and available for everyone to tune in. Like the ball drop on new year's.

Even if you don’t tune in to the event itself you would usually hear about the results. It’s usually more winter 🤷♀️

Hi I didnt understand the red candle tradition. Do you leave it lit till it goes out on it's own or melts all the way? Or is it more a lighting as a ritual/celebration and then extinguishing it when you feel successful?

Groundhog Day supposedly has roots in some superstitions by the Pennsylvania Dutch, but like other modern "holidays", the first official Groundhog day had nothing to do with Wicca or any spiritual belief at all. According to the History Channel, it was celebrated in 1887 and involved local businessmen and groundhog hunters from Punxsutawny in getting it off the ground. I think we can safely dismiss it from any witchy calendar.
@EllaHarrison4 жыл бұрын
I only included it to make an example of different mid-winter/spring holidays or celebrations/traditions that mark the midpoint of the seasons. I didn’t state that it was part of any witchy calendar 😊

Groundhog day see my comment
@rhondawright56174 жыл бұрын
It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks; but if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early. Copied from wikipedia.
