Tim Keller sermons via Gospel in Life: Many people today believe that Jesus never claimed to be God. They think Jesus was merely a wise teacher whose followers later deified him. Yet, key passages such as Philippians 2 demonstrate that from the very beginning of Christianity, Jesus was worshiped as God. In our lives, we can only see Jesus’ love for us once we realize that he is God. Jesus left the perfect love of the Trinity in order to serve us. He then sends His disciples out into the world, to follow in his footsteps, to serve and sacrificially love others.

The mind of Christ....what heady thought! To think that God entertains as a possibility that I could actually imitate Jesus, even in my limited human way. Amazing!

Many critical scholars of the Bible in the 19th century claimed Jesus never saw Himself as divine but that such embodied itself as a legend which grew after His death! Such claims have been put aside as we have always know but find more and more evidence for how early the Four Gospels along with Paul are exactly (legends don't form in such a short time) and study what exactly Jesus meant in His first century Second Temple Jewish context. Lots of people love the idea of Jesus never claiming divinity since it undermines Him and many others don't see how much implications such truly has. Undermining Jesus and seeing Him as a great teacher only has become a popular thing to do in Western culture but Jesus makes it clear that He is God and warns how undermining Him is being His enemy. He makes it very clear through Bible verses that you must choose to listen or ignore, follow or step aside, etc. You can't be moderate in anyways although culture tells us we can have such approach. And there is no reason to take for those rejecting or accepting Jesus on such. If Jesus is a failure who didn't literally resurrect from the dead or isn't God, then He is a liar that makes false promises, not different than any religious leaders throughout history who've claimed to be the way, an idealist with no evidence, and a pathetic failure who died for no good reason other than failure to avoid capture. Such would hardly be a good example of a teacher.

The Christian church was conceived at Pentecost. Although Timothy Keller is accurate in his understanding and teachings there seems to be a constant attack against the more traditional churches which he defines as been religious. I have great respect for Tim’s deep understanding of the essence of what it means to be a true Christian but lack of understanding of the Christian Orthodox faith promotes the tearing apart of the church rather than uniting it. I challenge every Christian of any denomination to disprove a miracle known at the “Holy Fire” before criticising the traditional Orthodox Church which Tim defines as religious. The “Holy Fire “ is a plasma which manifests itself upon the tomb of Christ on the day of Orthodox Easter . Unlike fire this plasma is burns at a much lower temperature than fire for the first 20 minutes and then transforms itself into a normal fire. Many non believers have tried to disprove this miracles without any success. The nature of a plasma fire cannot be replicated on earth and transform itself into a normal fire. This miracle has been taking place for the 1200 years. The reason for this miracle is not to tear apart the body of Christ but to reunite it.
