Tim Keller sermons via Gospel in Life: A common misunderstanding of being "born again" is that it's an experience for broken people, a way for outcasts and moral failures to turn their life around. Yet, when Jesus teaches on being born again, He does so by challenging a man who is the very opposite of the born again stereotype. Nicodemus was an upright moral man and a leader in his society - and yet Jesus said that all of his accomplishments meant nothing unless he was born again.

I can't count the times that I have listened to this tape from the very beginning time it was given. I believe that this is so divinely-inspired that it belongs as one of the top gifts from God to mankind through Tim.... ranking as high as the Augustine's, the Luther's, the Edward's; praying in the sincerest of gratitude for the Kellers in this trying time for them.

The story of Nicodemus Jesus can fundamentally guides us about the many ways people wrongfully approach Jesus along with His response. Firstly, Nicodemus approached Him as a great teacher who was sent by God. But the central theme of Jesus's message centers around Him being more than a great teacher as He proclaims Himself to be Lord and Savior; and Jesus's message is very different from a teacher who's presenting and supervising along with encouraging. Jesus is explicit in claiming that you can't accept Him as a teacher only; and must make the choice to accept Him as Lord & Savior or an idealistic figure. His message is very revolutionary as He speaks of creating a Kingdom of Heaven where the very reverse of what the world stands for along with it's logic will become reality. Secondly, Nicodemus believes he can build upon his current views and moral accomplishments. Jesus was a practicing Jew who spoke of the importance of the Law but tells us that we must begin over in Him rather than endorsing a Pharisee or Sadducee solution to the world. Thirdly, Jesus breaks Nicodemus's assertions of salvation being based upon works weighted by situation (which many people today accept) and explains how it's fundamentally based upon grace and nothing else ultimately. Jesus makes it clear that keeping the Laws doesn't entitle anyone to the Kingdom of Heaven and that it's all from God's grace! Finally, Jesus makes it clear that He is the Way regardless of any aspects of a person's background; and that His message is not just for the unrighteous but even the most righteous from a worldly moral standpoint. All of these are just some examples about the misconceptions Nicodemus had about Jesus along with how revolutionary Jesus truly was and with implications for many people share today.

Another brilliant sermon by Tim Keller. Lift up the Lord, and be healed of the poison of sin. His labors demonstrate your value. Seeing your value in Jesus' eyes is motive to reconsider everything. He will give you dignity. He will make you valid. He will take you by the hand so that by repentance you will redeem yourself in your own eyes. His grace is upon you now. Believe it. When there is error, act to correct it. But in the Light of the Lord's grace, where is sin? The two are antithetical, and only he who apprehends a missed mark to be a thing that can separate us from our Savior still believes in the reality of sin, instead of seeing sin for what it is - the temporal reality of unreality. It is a belief in what God does not recognize as real - not ultimately. When the Lord said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do," He set no value on 'what they do' - it didn't matter to Him. He saved us regardless, knowing our value, because we are as God created us. God created us the way we are, and He isn't ashamed. God's plan is flawless, and there is nothing good that has been left undone by Him. Paul said that if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Christ is risen; believe this and all that remains is to rise after him. Now you may go and sin no more.

timothy here is confusing life style with being born again, also repentance.
@jaredr2626

Nope - your active faith, your life (or your works), is your repentance, your new life. One moment sincerely praying the "sinner's prayer" means nothing without a "life style" of repentance or turning towards God. Show me your faith without your "works".

@@jaredr2626 whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. You can’t interpret James 2 with human logic. You have to look at the whole counsel of God’s word!

@@colton7373 "human logic"? what does that even mean? The demons believe that Christ is born of God, they confessed it when he walked the earth. Belief in a fact - that Christ is born of God - is the faith of the demons; show me your works, without them, your faith is useless.
