​@filipbitala2624 Elite doesn't yet support landing on planets with atmospheres greater than 0.1 atm, which would demand a proper aerodynamics model. That means you won't face noticeable differences when you land on atmospheric planets, including the sounds.

@@filipbitala2624 sure, but it's established that sound intensity is proportional to the density of medium, which means sound at 0.1 atm would have one tenth decibel of the sound at 1 atm. Since decibel is a log unit, ten times smaller decibel doesn't mean ten times smaller sound intensity; the sound of 155mm artilery fire, which can easily knock an unprotected human body down with its pressure, is 180 decibel. If you reduce it to 18 decibel, it's smaller than the sound of falling leaves colliding each other. Don't forget 0.1 atm is the thickest atmospheric pressure you can face in this game; if the planet has 0.05 atm, the artilery fire would be even weaker than the sound of your own breath.

Once my exploration ship was interdicted and received caustic damage when running away. I was carrying millions worth of exploration data and I landed at a carrier just as the hull indicator dropped to zero. Heart rate was through the roof.

Ordinarily, whatever length of time your life support has in reserve is plenty enough to allow you to make one or more jumps to or through other systems. Then do the fly by wire routine to get to and into a station for repairs. With the bugs flying about, all I can say is job well done getting it parked.

It's better in 95% of builds and scenarios to have the best life support you can. It's like a seat belt. If you need it it'll save your life, but obviously it seems less useful when you never use it.

I had this happen to me about 4 years back when DW2 expedition was on, I happened to find myself stuck in the exclusion zone of a white dwarf and was stuck there for a good minute before i escaped narrowly. Needless to say I synthesized over 40 reloads of life support before I found myself at Jaques

i came into a station once at 4% health, landed too hard and the gauge said 0%. i screamed out,"NO!", but i didnt explode. idk if the game was just lagging or if i didnt actually have 0% but rather less than 1%: but i have never hit that repair button so fast in my life. 😂😅

I once finished a fight agaisnt a mission target with literal Zero Hull. It was specially a butt clenching moment because by the end of the fight I literally had ZERO SHIELDS and ZERO HULL and my target and turning on me to make a firing run, and I basically was just manically firing with every weapon. And in the LAST SECOND, before it even fired at me. I kill it, I watched as the ship started to drift aimlessly and then go kaboon. I literally couldn't belive I manage to survive. And all the way back to Lalande 22701 I was clenching my cheeck hoping nothing went wrong.

It wouldn't have been literal zero hull, just rounded down to zero hull. 0% means anything between .01% and .5%

@@krashd I will assume the game it is kot code to work around decimal numbers, because the Hull Gauge of my HUD said I had LITERAL zero hull. But the point was that, I was LITERALLY one mosquito sight away from being nuked, I still can't believe I survive that and manage to keep my bounty and make it back to the station, without killing myself by a stupid accident.

@@YesPlease964 The cannopy breach is not necessarelly losing all the glass. the glass breaks based on where your ship was hit. Some ships like Lakon's ''blubble cannopy'' usually lose all the glass at once. You can still see the hud where it's not broken. I think he lost both sides of the canopy but not the front panel. Very rare. But happened. You can see the altitude disapeared, only the crosshair and weapons remained.

Mate, your Ship needs work if it (a Corvette) loses Hull HP at that rate. Glad you made it! Never go for Shield Tanks fighting Thargs, you really don't need a shield. I have no shields on any Anti Xeno build, costs you close to 1000 Hull HP. I suggest the Alliance Ships, more agile, great Hull and harder to hit. Designed for Anti-Xeno. And never forget module reinforcements. Life Support is also often Class D and Lightweight but should really be A / reinforced. Integrity is the currency. You should have around 9000 absolute Hull HP on a proper Anti-Xeno Corvette.

Whenever I'm on a planet I have a hard time going up. It feels the gravity is stronger than my upwards thrusters which makes me hug the ground. Kind of annoying when I need to like scan a structure for a mission. Am I doing something wrong? New player here, sorry.

Yeah, gravity is simulated, with one unrealistic caveat. Just keep boosting straight up at 90 degrees, and 4 pips to ENG to recharge your boost faster. Your rear thrusters are /always/ more powerful than planetary gravity. If you can't go 90, pivot your ship against the ground until you're pointed upward. Doesn't matter what class/size thruster you have, as long as it's rated for your laden mass.

Your most powerful set of thrusters are on the ass of your ship pointing backwards so if you want to get away from something you point your ship away from it and use main thrust. This is useful if you underestimate how strong a planet's gravity is and find yourself falling too fast - just point the ass of your ship at the planet and start thrusting towards space.

3 damage sources: -Thargoid Scouts hitting me (the flashing red blips on the radar) -Hit by Caustic Missiles, which slowly deal damage to your hull until you burn it off/repair yourself (Green health bar) -A giant Caustic Cloud from a dead Interceptor, which deals heavy damage if you're in its radius. In this case, it died within 3km of this base
