Personally, I've started (depending on the device) open them up; clean any manufacturing 'spots', and apply a small coat of dielectric grease with a small paint brush + Q-Tip on specific areas where corrosion can easily damage the contacts or soldered wires. If you have a relative who likes to use certain devices while they shower... Like a landline phone (smh) this alone, will save you some trouble lol. coat the battery terminals lightly - avoid corrosion, or help prevent it.

Water will wash out the lubricants in the drill and especially the bearings. Some of the internal metals will rust. Sure it may run but it will certainly shorten the life of your impact. Eventually youll start hearing the bearings dragging.

I'm a carpenter in the pnw that does a little bit of everything. Looking to get into the flex line. My work outfits us with makita but want to try something different. With that being said will the compact impact work for 3 inch deck screws, smaller lags, grks and self tapping screws on metal buildings/roofs? I like the idea of the compact drill as I also do cabinet work and don't need a hammer drill when I have a roto hammer. Just curious if the compact kit will work or if I should buy separately get the bigger impact and compact drill.
@IMPACT-NATION
@IMPACT-NATION 7 ай бұрын
It’ll do the 3 inch screws and self tappers, now with the 5/16 RSS GRK’s like I use the compact impact will do them but continuously it’ll put it under high load wich means drain the battery man. I use the compact for 3 inch GRK framers but that’s about it. Sometimes it won’t even sink a Tapcons for me if the concrete psi is high strength. I’d go with the bigger impact for sure man cause it’s made for the heavy abuse and high load capacity. If you have a roto hammer and just need a decent drill that compact drill on speed 1 should be plenty depending on the diameter of the hole. I’d say 1 inch to 1.25 max

What do you think of the trigger? Thibs said it could be a lot more responsive. I’m returning a Dcd800 because I’m not happy with it. I see that there’s a sale on both the Ridgid high torque hammer drill and the Flex turbo. I’m just a DIYER that wants a strong drill, and I’m trying to decide between the two.
@IMPACT-NATION
@IMPACT-NATION Жыл бұрын
The trigger on the Flex isn’t the smoothest there is. Let me put it like this…. The flex tools were designed for one thing, the jobsite. Durability, power, and performance is unlike anything I’ve ever seen man. I throw these tools on the ground, puddles of mud, concrete etc etc. They hold true brother. Hardcore as it gets. If your looking for the best and smoothest trigger quality… Metabo hpt or Makita has that covered. But man like you said if your just using it around the house I would go with the new compact combo if you want Flex. Way lighter than the full size drill and impact. Plenty of power and the triggers are a little more sensitive. Great value as well👌
@DiligentDave1966

@@DiligentDave1966 well in that case the Turbo hammer drill can be had for great deals right now man. And it’s at the top of the chain with power. The disclaimer is Flex is not for everyone. Meaning the grips aren’t made for comfort, they have a little more weight, and like you said the trigger isn’t the smoothest. But I tell you they are well built solid tools that hold up. I don’t care what you may hear on KZbin or anywhere. All brands have issues but Flex you don’t hear about much when it comes to failures

@@IMPACT-NATION It’s possible I was trying to do something that I shouldn’t have with my DCD800. I’ve been watching too many Tools With SOALZ videos lol. Anyway, Home Depot has the deal right now where you can get the new Ridgid hammer drill for free if you buy the $169 battery kit. They also have a decent deal on the 800 inch pound hammer drill with the 3 speed impact driver. I think I’m going to choose between Ridgid and Flex. The 750 inch pound Flex drill or the compact set might work for me,after all, if I just use them right. I love the trigger and ergonomics of Dewalt, but I don’t like the way they treated Thibs when his board burned out.

Its laughable that companies have convinced us to fight eachother. Its free marketing for makita, milwaukee, dewalt, etc. I dont use a milwaukee hammer drill because "i only use the best tools in the universe! MiLaWUkeE-hEe!" I use bosch, because in my experience USING THEM IN THE FIELD, they are awesome. If someone says flex has a better hammer drill than bosch, im not going to condescend that NOBODY can compete with bosch... id be happy because bosch makes some badass hammer drills. And if someone had a better drill it would make BOSCH up their game! In the end competition helps us get better quality tools, and makes companies have to COMPETE for our trust. Ive got not horse in this race brother. I just want good products for us contractors and laborers. I think its important we stay open minded and dont let a company buy your opinions, attitudes, or trigger your emotions to the point you defend companies who get lazy, or intentionally sell subpar products to save monry. No reason to justify the milwaukee underwear, just get fruit of the loom or whatever for 95 dollars cheaper xD My two cents, take it with a grain of salt. Love and peace, be safe brothers!
