Impaler Mold Makin' (RC Racing Bodies by Simon!)

(Video and timelapse of a team casting a 60 Duro Hi-Temp Silicone Rubber mold for the vacuum forming of 1/10 scale RC car bodies. The video begins with explaining the process and ends with the "birth" of the casting.
This one is "The Impaler," a concept inspired by NASCAR's Chevrolet models.
Soon it will be Impalers vs Contusions.
(The "Team" was: Simon and Sheila Smith, Craig Hartnell, Dave Irwin and Buck Dashe.)

No but that would be pretty damn cool! One of my favorites… This mold is for a NASCAR-like sedan body for 10th scale RC. (Most commonly being used on Slash 2wd and similar platforms.)

It would cost a lot! Design work, labor, materials…looking at well over a grand I would speculate… Can’t say for sure but you can check out the Palo Mesa Raceway Facebook group and make inquiries there. Good luck!

I just do videos. My friend has a fledgling RC body business (Simon’s RC) focused mainly on sedan bodies for 1/10 scale SCT platforms. His bodies aren’t as boxy as most you’ll find. If you check out some videos in this channel you’ll see them in action. Anyway, no custom work at this time.

Haha…yeah, seems that way, doesn’t it? But the compound sets too quickly for someone to precisely mix and pour alone…particularly this volume.. For example, as the last buckets are mixed the first ones are setting. Don’t know if you noticed, he is pouring continuously… Thanks for watching!
