I'm from Romania and I have a free house for a family to live there (3 rooms and one bath fully renovated, the kitchen and other 2 rooms are usable but old). The problem is that I live in the south of Romania, close to the Bulgaria border so is far from the Ukrainian border but if you know somebody interested to stay, even for a long period of time the house is free. Btw the house is in a small village, at 60km from a town (Craiova).

After the Rocks' Pirates disbanded, John became his own Pirate Captain. We know the rest: he got betrayed & killed by his crew, Moriah stole his corpse to animate it as a minion, then the Straw Hats find his soulless zombie in Thriller Bark.

I think for the Gum Gum fruit, it is an important distinction to say that he isn't MADE of rubber, but has THE PROPERTIES of rubber. His body still functions normally, but is stretching like rubber through and through. Logia types actually change themselves to be made of their fruits element. Luffy was attacked by a bunch of different types of poison but kept fighting, that's why no antidote could help. Ivankov, Black Beard and Company only were covered by the basic poison and nothing more that's why the antidote worked

Luffy was covered in multiple different poisons throughout the fight. Blackbeard was hit was his standard hydra attack which they do have an antidote for as was shown when he hit his subordinates with it

It's entirely possible that Luffy being made of rubber DID help him resist being poisoned. After all, toxins can be absorbed through your skin, but you're more likely to get poisoned through your skin if you've got open wounds, and since Luffy was completely coated with Magellan's poison and almost definitely had numerous smaller cuts and wounds, it makes sense that he got poisoned, even if he was more resistant to skin contact than normal people. And again, we don't know about whether Luffy was more resistant than normal people to poison, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the major deciding factor to him surviving the poison.

Magellan's need to constantly use the bathroom wasn't just a gag. It's a literal drawback of his devil fruit. If I remember correctly it's either that his venom body took his ability to taste most things, so he has to eat beyond spicy foods that "obliterate" his stomach making him constantly need the bathroom, or the venom in his stomach can't be properly processed and he constantly needs the bathroom I can't remember which.

I can't believe some people in the comments are seriously arguing that clearly fascist-inspired guards are the good guys of this arc. Saying that, in Impel Down, Luffy isn't a good guy is.... BUT, LUFFY IS NEVER 100% BENEVOLENT. He is a pirate, for crying out loud. So *if his brother's life is on the line, better believe the corrupt, oppressive government facility that has his brother chained up for execution will face a reckoning. With the poison and Luffy's skin I get where you're coming from. However, Luffy still possesses pores which are shown with both him sweating when physically worked and the steam during second gear. It's very likely that the poison could enter his body this way. There's a lot to be said for the inclusion of qigong (ancient Chinese art of using one's own life force). We see it at Enies Lobby with the sage being able to instantly digest and absorb food, we see it with Lucci being able to change body mass as well as the iron body technique and we also see it with the sage controlling his hair. Chopper calls it bio-feedback and tells us that it's a way to increase the amount of control one has over their bodies functions. With this in mind, as well as the fact that Iva used a stimulant on Luffy, my theory is that Luffy survived the poison by forcibly recylcing his own blood faster than the poison can kill him. I think how Luffy digests food just after this lends itself to the theory while also making these food gags realistic and grounded in the logic of the series.

I think it makes sense for Luffy to be affected by the poison. Rubber gloves will protect you from poisons and chemicals and stuff, but that's just because they're preventing it from actually touching you. It's different for Luffy because his power doesn't give him a protective layer, the poison is directly on his actual skin and can get up in his pores and stuff. Also, Luffy's skin obviously isn't a waterproof barrier because then he wouldn't be able to sweat which would kind of be a problem. The thing that always bothered me is that Luffy is apparently immune to electricity because rubber is an insulator, but he doesn't have any defense against heat even through rubber is also a good thermal insulator. I can see why they couldn't give him immunity to every heat-based attack since they're a lot more common than lightning, but still...

Speaking of which, a lot of people seem to be of the opinion that Magellan is a good person because he's a prison warden who keeps bad pirates off the high seas. And honestly that feels like they seem to miss the greater point that the reason pirates exist in this world is because there's a fundamentally authoritarian force governing the world and that pirates being bad doesn't make the world government or its respective agents the good guys. Poison can definitely effect you if you get it all over you, even if you don't ingest it. Your skin is a highly absorbent organ, doesn't matter if it has the properties of rubber or not, it still has sweat glands and pores and hair follicles where poison can get in. EDIT: Also for later in the video for why Blackbeard survived, but Luffy almost died: Magellan only covered Blackbeard in one type of poison, Luffy got covered in multiple types.

Well no I don't think that's true. Remember Luffy's gears shorten his lifespan that's not an illness and can't be cured. So luffy dying young like roger can be a result of that instead of an illness. So same result as roger but a different cause.

I have a comment regarding all the "10 years of lifespan" stuff, though I fear it will be buried deep in the others. Remember this: Gear 2 burns away at Luffy's lifespan, by his own admission and Lucci's speculation. A theme is already building up of Luffy "gambling" away years of his lifespan or having to lose them to be able to protect those he care for. This has brought many fans to start to think about the possibility of Luffy's dying at the end of the saga. Also, if somehow Luffy's health taking a turn for the worst caused in him something like a terminal illness, that might also connect to Chopper's dream of being able to cure every disease in the world. There is more to this theory, but as it's founded in what are now stlll spoilers, I won't expand on it. It's at the very least, a thought that most One Piece Fans end up considering for a while, before deciding if it's something they want to keep in mind for the future.

regarding the function of poison, poison is ingested, inhaled or absorbed through the skin (skin is porous to allow water and other nutrients to circulate through the dermal layers). animals like poison dart frogs are capable of killing people just by them touching one with a single finger as the toxic compounds are extremely disruptive to multiple bodily functions. during luffy's fight with magellan, he did literally all three of the things that enables poison to affect a person. he inhaled the gas that magellan generated, got soaked in it literally head to toe and even swallowed some as evidenced by residual quantities of it being visible in his mouth after the fact. now it's definitely possible that his rubber body gives him increased resistance to the poison's initial contact effects but he was subjected to enough of it to quite literally drown and if there are animals in the real world that can kill humans with less than a handful of poison from their bodies, there's no question magellan's poison is a compound with the same level of toxicity and he was throwing around hundreds if not thousands of gallons of it at a time

On the topic of Luffy being poisoned. Luffy may be made of rubber, but we have still been him bleed sweat and eat. This doesn't sound too important, but the fact that he still functions like any other person as far as his biological functions. Because he sweats, he has pours which means dermatological poisons would still enter his body and blood stream like it would any other person. So when it comes down to it, I think it makes perfect sense that Magellan's poison works on Luffy

The context behind Buggy wanting the map is that it's captain John's treasure the thing he was super excited for when he was on the crew with shanks that he couldn't bet too because he ate the bara bara no mi. Also while Luffy is a rubber man he would still have pores and even if he didn't the fact that he has hair means he has holes at least on his scalp so it's understandable he could be poisoned. Also in one piece devil fruits seem more like concepts than reality say for instance I could imagine as a rubber man I could blow up my arm five times its size but in reality that's impossible

the reason why megalans venom affected luffy is because it is a neurotoxin meaning it affects the entire body and its not like hes a logia user who can dodge it without moving so that is why luffy was affected

My ending theory is that after the crew finds the one piece, they all sail back to their homes, with each one being dropped off to stay with their loved ones until all that’s left are Luffy Zoro and Robin (I think it would be hilarious if Zoro is actually from the same island as Luffy), and they stay there for a while. Until the crew all shows up again in his village and they head out to sea to start their next adventure. Whatever that may be

When talking Rubber vs Poison I think people mostly only account for the known properties of rubber and not enough on the unknown properties and limitations of the Poison being used. It's show to act like a ultra powerful acid, It melted a stone wall the same scene they show it burning Luffys palm. Why is that scaled down to normal poison for the sake of argument?

Idk why there’s so many people that think Magellan was a good guy. He certainly wasn’t a traditional bad guy, and I think the term “antagonist” applies here more than “villain”… that being said, he’s still not the “good guy”. He’s taking very extreme measures like releasing Shiryu, running the prison in horrific fashion (torture, death, torturous death, etc.), and at the end of the day, he also works for the world government. Luffy doesn’t fit the term “good guy” here either. Releasing hundreds of the worst criminals on earth for the (relatively) selfish purpose of rescuing one person he’s close to. His intentions, like Magellan’s, are good, but neither is objectively on the “good” side. Their protagonist-antagonist dynamic here does not at all fall into the dichotomy of “Hero-Villain” or “Good Guy-Bad Guy” they’re pretty morally level with each other, which is a reflection of how morally gray many things in the series, and in real life, are.

My pet theory regarding the status of Luffy's body and the general idea of how body affecting devil fruits is that they embody the characteristics of their ability to an extreme. For example, Luffys body is not actually rubber, it's just normal human (as normal as he can be). It has just gained the flanderised characteristics of rubber. Thus, it is extremely elastic and cannot be torn. However, it can be cut very easily. It still retains the weight and strength of human flesh, and Luffy should be able to regulate elasticity subconsciously to punch people. Besides, Luffy has built up tolerance to poison by this point. Plus, Ivankov has never seen anyone like Luffy. He's probably going to be just fine.

So Luffy encountered a various amount of poisons but each attack is a different poison. So in this case they were only hit with the hydra which the warden only uses 1 kind of poison mostly because he seemingly doesn't want to accidentally kill his own guards if they get caught up in the attack

43:40 so what i got was that he does not just have one type of poison but several and because luffy got several poisons mixed in his system to make a cure to take care of all of them at the same time would not happen and as we see with the blackbeard pirates they only got one poison in their system and so they could cure them as they have the antidote laying around as it seems mangella accidentally poison the guards quite often it happens more than once in the start of the arc
