13 years is not enough. The family must be devastated. The investigation and work that goes into solving these vicious crimes makes a mockery of not only their work but the death of the victim. Very sad, so sorry for her family and her little boy. Well done to all those who discovered the truth. X

Some killers only get 8 years here in Hungary, Europe. I know one murderer who got out of prison after 6 years and killed again. Murder should automatically carry a life sentence without the possibility of parole anywhere in the world...

Killers, if they get away with it or get their freedom usually kill again. I'm so glad in the US he would have gotten 25 years to life. Doesn't mean when he got out he wouldn't kill again. He'd just be alot older and hopefully slower. lol oh my.

Oh, yes! Sad to say, but it looks like as european we have lost the right idea of justice! Surely, not each and every killer should pay for his crime with equal death: that is up to the Courts and their judges. But he who kills cold blood, he who kills merciless, he who has already been involved in crimes and violences against human beings..., well, there's no reason to have him alive, knowing he'll always remain a danger for society.

A few years ago, a man killed his wife and dismembered her body, throwing pieces here and there like garbage. Investigators lost for some reason the killer's trail, and when he was finally busted, his lawyers managed to find out explanations for his crime so keen and smart that there was no way to convict the man: he hasn't done not even a single hour in prison, nothing at all!, and he's as free as a bird, enjoying the money gotten from the life insurance priorly signed. Is that justice? Shoplifters who have stolen goods for 60 euros worth, even though had no previous crime on their record, got jailed four months. Killers who killed one, two, three people walk free after three years or five...

What in the f*** is going on in Australia?? I just watched 3 episodes back to back. 1 ran over his girlfriend because she had a new boyfriend, then staged the scene like an accident. He got 10 years. 2nd, 3 friends murdered a guy new to the city, cleaned his bank account, and 1 suspect got no time whatsoever. And now, this guy murders his child's mom, tries to solicit a friend to help dispose of her body, sends messages to her loved ones after she's dead and gets 13 years? Seriously..... wtf.

A non-parole period of 13 years? Hardly worth the effort of concealing the crime at all! If he'd just turned himself in at the beginning he would have probably only done 5 to 7 years. The sentences given in the U.K. are ludicrously lenient.

@@flaviarenevey6719 Yes, it is life with no parole for at least 13 years. Which means that, depending on his age, he will almost certainly be paroled at some point. If not in 13 years, then possibly 15,18 or 20 years. If he is 30 years old currently, that puts him back on the streets at age 50 or less. Still young enough to have and act on his nasty urges and appetites. Just that possibility is unacceptable. Just my opinion of course. The risk is simply too great to all the women who would be within his target range.

It makes me so sad for the young child who now has no parents because the adults were not able to behave like mature adults discussing the upbringing of said child. I’m even more amazed that people who kill somehow imagine they can get away with it! I’m very happy this man was caught and will be serving time; however, 13 and 7 is not nearly harsh enough for taking the life of his own child’s Mother.

The premeditated lengths the unsub went to execute this murder is mind boggling 🤯! I’m thoroughly impressed with the police forensic techniques but the speed that this was processed is phenomenal! I am gobsmacked at the sentencing , until I realized it was “a non-parol period of 13 yrs and 7 months” that DOESN’T MEAN this demented deviant ONLY gets 13 years, IT MEANS he can’t go for parole UNTIL 13 years and 7 months has passed, THEN he can solicit parole but that doesn’t guarantee him parole. I’m sure Carmens family will be at the first “hearing’ this degenerate gets ! For the SOLE PURPOSE, in reminding the panel the horrendously horrific, savage injustice this beautiful women endured! I know if she were in my family....I'd be this guys own personal 'Karma' at every parole hearing. ! The program is VERY INTERESTING ! I’m going to subscribe ! Well done! 👍

It is excellent to see the New Zealand team going that bit extra, digging up the cement footing at the construction site, etc. I suspect they're well funded. Comparing to some U.S. investigations where it's stated that they didn't have the funding to take up a cement floor after sonar had indicated anomalies of the correct size under the flooring, it's admirable that this group seems to have had the resources that they needed. And a certain thoughtfulness.

If I were a detective there I would be furious, something really needs to be done to get some sort of justice for victims forever gone and the families who loved them shattered forever I don't believe for a second this was a crime of passion or in the heat of the moment, he was researching for a year ! @@pennysue8849 An overhaul of criminal justice systems is needed, not only in NZ but in all countries: prison sentences, which studies show don't prevent crime the slightest, are very expensive for the community - which is ending up literally paying for the crimes.. So incarceration is painfully counterproductive and outdated: humankind needs to figure out how to deal with crimes in a way that deters and punishes criminals, heals the immediate surroundings of the victim and the wounded community at large, and rewards investigators. If you have any ideas, I'm sure that criminologists will be happy to hear them: the issue has been debated for decades, without success.

I'm so blown away that they're able to pursue a case based largely on their "gut instinct". In the US it's almost as if they avoid investigation altogether. So many victims fall through the legal loopholes. It's heartwarming that they were able to investigate further because someone recognized something was wrong. I want to hug this department for pursuing this young woman's disappearance. Kudos! ❤

Such good investigation. Why are some police departments so lacking? Who decides which cases are investigated vs which cases are ignored? A detective or higher rank? Cases can actually be solved when: A) someone tries and B) someone has training to learn how. And, not one or the other. Both are needed.
