Been a Blender user for about 6 years now. But I set time aside each day to watch and follow one of your 10min challenge videos. I think that the "Bonus Material" - after the 10 Minute Challenge, is just as valuable (if not more so) than the standard material. The slower pace, the "error, think, correct" thought process is super-valuable. I have become a lock-down Imphenzia addict.

@19:20, you can hit R 2x, for gimbal rotation. It takes a bit of playing with to understand how to push/pull and roll left/right, but I use it all the time for this sort of thing. It makes aligning a long object to a surface easier, as your view alignment doesn't matter as much.

it's a really nice end result. while watching i was thinking "whoa that's a bit extreme" when you were proportional editing, but then it all just came togethrer at the end and all just works to produce a nice result. good job, im going to attempt to replicate this style as ive been making low-poly buildings just now but i wasn't happy with them - their look was just too basic. I think if i took inspiration from your style then that would give them what's missing 👍 as always, loving your content, and im looking forward to whatever you come up with next 😄

Do you have a way to get the edge detect/highlight effect you get from enabling "Cavity" into regular (Cycles or Eevee) renders?
@muklin4 жыл бұрын
you can use the geometry pointiness in Cycles, (only, not Eevee.) use a color ramp to generate enough contrast, and it works a treat. Don't know how to do it in Eeevee yet. The fact its in the Display port, means it should be in the render.. but can't find it yet.
@roelvanhout54494 жыл бұрын
@@muklin But that only works when you have lots of geometry - if you do that on a default cube, you won't see anything (try outputting the pointiness straight into a viewer node, or even amplifying the amount the pointiness value differs from 0.5 - you won't see anything). Certainly not as crisp as the Cavity setting gives you. And a lot of the style of these models is because of that effect. Maybe if it's only for exporting into a game engine it's OK, especially if there's a way to replicate the effect in the engine.
