Absolutely brilliant! Thank you! Saving it to share since I’ve had a port for almost 5 years now. I’ve been shocked at how ignorant some medical staff are when it comes to ports. I wish port training was more prevalent

@@lucidmed3343 the nurses in the infusion department at the hospital are fantastic, but I’ve heard from cancer patients (mine is for remicade) that during occasions they have been inpatient, nurses on the ward sometimes avoid using them! I’m talking about the oncology ward where they should be just as familiar!

Is it okay to use a non-power huber needle to a power port if patient is not going to MRI/CT scan or will not be receiving power injectable medications/solutions?

Hi Deemn! Thanks for your question and the answer is yes that's normally fine to do. If you suspect pt will require scans during admission I'll advise using a PowerLoc needle to avoid having to re -access. You can use non-power needles, like the Gripper, to access power injectable ports if it's not being used for power injection. D
