You could have a TVR in any colour you wanted, Peter Wheeler reputedly claimed to be able to offer 12,000 different shades, tell them what you wanted matching and that's what you got.

Something worth remembering for Americans is that us English and indeed, throughout Europe, our collective governments HATE V8 / large engines. It's quite funny for us to hear the SBC350 referred to as a "SMALL block" I mean, its 5.7 litres! The various road / fuel taxes are quite high here, eg fuel tax is around 70% and anything newer than 30 years here in Ireland the road tax for anything over 3 litres (183ci aprx) would be between 1800 to 2400+ Euro PER YEAR! Just to have your vehicle allowed on the road! I am very fortunate that my Range Rover Classic was made in 1989 so my road tax is classed as 'Vintage' so is only 56 Euro per year (it's actually cheaper than my Triumph Speed Triple motorbike!) Indeed, the Rover V8 in my Range Rover was THE go-to V8 for many years in the UK, including TVR which replaced it with the Speed 8, was originally a Buick 215ci aluminium block which was years ahead of its time but didn't last long at GM when Rover bought the licence to manufacture it. Just a shame those despicable 'bar stewards' at Bavarian Murder Weapons axed it when the bought the Rover Motor Company. Top Gear actually did an obituary for the engine kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZKYo2yBpsZroMk but I must obviously disagree with TG and say its best home was in a Land Rover or Range Rover, not least when it was in one they missed off their list, the Land Rover 'Forward Control 101' kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3LNY3Spacakopo

When the MG X came out it was disappointing how it used a low power American engine As american V8s from the 2000s were lesser powered As people hoped for the MG X to be a more of a leisurely counterpart to a TVR More comfort and commentaries and less of a hard to control beast with no safety and all adrenaline Truely a TVR that has been turned from a wild animal to a domesticated beast Of course im talking about the 2000s mg x

How are you going to get parts for it?

Good question! The slow and expensive way... from the UK. I'm hoping some wear items like brakes etc, are shared with other cars that are found in the USA
@LawrenceTimme2 жыл бұрын
@@AaronsEccentricGarage wow that is going to cost a fair bit. I really hope it works OK and is reliable for you. I got my first TVR last year, but I'm here in the UK and there are plenty of specials garages for them here. I have subscribed as it will be interesting to watch your future videos importing and experiencing it. It will be an incredibly rare car in the USA 😎

Have you been in touch with the TVR Car Club North America ? Great bunch of guys and I'm sure will be able to offer help/advice on spares etc. My current 2006 Tuscan Convertible is my 6th TVR, here in the UK, #5 was a Cerbera 4.2. The Cerbera is an awesome machine. Good luck.

@@AaronsEccentricGarage I was in Phoenix one time and speaking with an English guy in Tucson who had a Chimaera but that was about 8 years ago. There was also a 2005 Mk2 Tuscan Targa top in LA that had been in an accident back in 2012. It appeared on LA news after it was involved in a second accident where a Town Limo crashed through the repair shop window, damaging it, a Lambo and a Ferrari Spider belonging to Kobe Bryant. I followed that Tuscan for several years as it moved around the country. Florida, Vegas, LA.....

I saw a Cerbera Speed 12 in silver I wanted to sit in it, the car has a massive 12 cylinder motor. I think it rivals the Viper.

I’ve got a TVR and my wife owns a Jeep TJ. Your major problem will be sourcing parts, you’re going to be importing a lot for the UK! My Chinaera is serviced by the guy who helped develop the Speed 8 and he has the original speed 12 engine in his garage!! I’ll help you source parts for yours if you send Jeep parts in my direction 🤣🤣🤣

Good to know!!! And thank you. Hopefully I won't need parts any time soon lol 😅

@@AaronsEccentricGarage lol! You’ve got a Cerbera that’s 25 years old, you’re gonna need parts. The ONLY parts you will find locally, are oil filter, injectors, O2 sensors, spark plugs, tires and the drain-cocks on the water rails. Everything else, will need to be shipped from the UK. Quite how you’re going to get it through a smog test, I do not know. The AJP is an emissions filthy engine. But good luck, it will be worth it. Nothing this side of an Italian exotic costing silly-money, even comes close to the thrill of a well sorted Cerbera!

@@AaronsEccentricGarage good! Then make sure you remove the cats, they only serve to cook the cabin, gearbox and slave cylinder seals anyway and removal is very easy - you will need some decat pipes - your first parts order from the UK ;-)
