She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

The whole family is looking as well and good as I’ve ever seen them. Genki looks great, healthy, her eyes bright and beautiful and her coat’s fluffy. Kintaro is beautiful and sleek and boyish as always, Momo is his usual gorgeous self and Gentaro looks fantastic! His head/skull is developing like Momotaro’s it’s very clean and sleek and it’s easy to mistake one another just seeing them from the back of their heads. When Gentaro sits up at the top grills with Momo (where they all shelter together from the rain 🌧️ ♥️🦍🦍🦍🦍♥️☔️) you see Gen has some ways to go he’s not the size or development of Momo physique-wise yet but he’s getting there! Beauful family. All blossoming and having a lovely day together despite the rain. It’s lovely to see. 🦍♥️

Both sons are very muscular...like their father. I think the Hanging off their 'gym' has built their muscles up and made them to look very fit and well defined. Momo is a very powerfully built guy and his sons are the same...but under all that muscle is a very seriously protective dad who has taught his sons well.

Pretty sure he is growing at a normal rate for his age,Kiyomasa looks bigger than Gent and is slightly younger but they all grow at different paces.

You think Kiyo is bigger than Gentaro? Gentaro appears significantly larger to me. Shabani used to look as physically impressive as Momo...I'm not sure if he's lost weight or his fur is just thinning. All their fur seems to be less thick in that fam since moving. The only fam that looks as well as Momo fam physically to me is Djeeco & Oumbi families. But Momo fam climbs for food daily & get the most exercise i think.

@@Mr.Oct___I think Gentaro looks larger than Kiyomasa, too. Guess we’d need their current weights to be sure. Regarding the silverbacks, I think Oumbi is a “beast” (😂), and D’Jeeco is a pretty good size, too. Haoko and Shabani are brothers, and I believe Haoko is larger. Momotaro is still very much in the mix, too! 😊❤❤

It's a good thing that Kintaro is close to his mother Genki. I often think she would be lonely otherwise, with no other female to be a friend. I understand she is afraid of adult gorillas and did not get along well but was very stressed, when she was moved away at Gentaro's age for breeding, and they brought her home again to Kyoto? Poor Genki. But she has two lovely healthy sons, which is a blessing. It would be nice for her to have a daughter too but I expect she might be too old now.

Gentaro is a big, beautiful boy. He’s almost a silverback. His arms and head still have some growing to do, as well as his canines. He doesn’t have the big canines like Momo has……the scary looking vampire teeth. He looks fabulous, so does Momo. They all look great. Kintaro is so attached to Genki. When he becomes a silverback, he’ll still be nursing from her…..and Genki will let him.

I think Grnki is lonely. It is not natural for no other daughter or familial female interaction for Genki. K. A daughter would have been nice but it did not happen. Only Kintaro intetacts with her. Most think thst is bad for Kintaro but how lonely for Genki if he didn't.

I believe Kintaro's actions are normal towards his mother Genki. In the wild, a young gorilla remains close to its mother through the age of 6 even sleeping in the same nest at night. After that the youth stays in the same troop until it's time to leave for mating purposes. It seems Kintaro is right on track with his wild cousins, and with his brother, Gentaro, who slept near his mom on the night before Kintaro's birth. In my view, Genki is an outstanding mom to both of her sons. 🦍
