Fut bol is a game of skill, it is a lot like chess, as a defender you are reading youre oponent, you try to.anticipate their movement and also you want to stop them by any means necessary, you have to constantly use your peripheral vision that way you know you're opponents position also before you even get the ball you already have in.mind what you're going to do with the ball, as a defender your timing gas to be perfect a missed tackle can be a break away that ends in a goal or a penalty kick. Love the game

Their are not articulate because they play with Pep. They play with Pep because they are articulate. In other words you're not a good player because you play with Pep. You play with Pep because you are a good player. I am not trying to say that Pep doses not improves players, cuz he does and a lot, what I saying is: Pep is the kind of coach where his players need to fit and adapt to a certain philosophy, unlike Mourinho, Ancelotti or Zidane where the coach adapts to the players. Zidane coaches the way he used to play: Put the players where they feel the most confotrable and let them shine, cuz then they have no excuses but it adds more weight on the player's shoulders. Pep on the other sides is a control freak, cuz as he says so many time, if there is no control caos takes over and in caos anything can happen. So every players "just" has to do what he wants. Which means "less" responsabilty for the players, BUT the problem with this way of coaching if you don't have the "right" players it won't work. Unlike Mourinho or Zidane: They don't need the "right" players they only need "good" players. You can be a great Player but not being able to play in a Pep team. For example Bale is a Zidane kind of player because he is not a player for possession football, he is more of transitional player. Just like prime CR7, Di Maria or Even Mbappe. What Pep always looks for is a player that is comfortable with ball and can play with a slow pace players like Bernardo, Busquets, Xavi, Joáo Felix, Kimmisch, Pedri or even Griezmann.

I'm not a football player myself but I try as much as possible to learn about football techniques that improve any player's capacities and Rúben is the perfect example. from the way he's answering questions, to the way he talks and explains details, to the way he actually plays on the field, not mentioning his high class ethics, literally one of the few players who dedicate themselves to football fully with much focus. 7:20 I think that could have applied to this video as well. Pleasure to see him on the channel but so much of his answers were "well it depends" because no defender can give you a definitive "law" on it. If maybe he was able to be in a few 1v1 scenarios with a top level academy player then we could see how he'd react given the scenarios. At the minium I think even having the next guest in a similar role/position review their match footage with a host, and give a "directors commentary" over what he was thinking/why he made a specific decision in matches. Great work getting him on!

The most improtant thing for a defender is "game reading" ,as a defender you should think like the attacker , like if i would be an attacker in that position right noe heere will i go , e.g i am being pressed from the centre , there is a man open on his left , so as a defender just go and stand with that man , or if you are already occupied with a man , tell a midfielder or another defender to mark him . 0:32

So defence is mostly intuition and really “in the moment” it’s not really an art to teach to others but to teach yourselves through rl situations. You teach how to stand or stance yourself, along with the physical capabilities necessary. Beyond that is just pure experience, and watching some games to learn movements and habits of the players within a 10 metre radius. One thing I always do is CONSIDER THE 2nd option, you have 2 legs so use both, but have it at the front of your brain. Then again I’m a winger so I may not kno what I’m talking abt 😭if u got any tips for me lmk ion mind some more defensive capabilities
@thegoat1242 Жыл бұрын
to start, since your on the wing, try and force them to go close to the touchline. If their getting close to your goal or if their getting to be in a position that you don't like and their about to pass, don't be afraid to give them a little push at the last moment or try and get them off balance, this always helps. I play fullback and I completley agree with what your saying. The only advice I've ever been able to give when asked about 1v1s is just dont fall for it. Don't fall for the stepovers or the chops or anything, anticipate and go for the ball when it's inconvinent for the opponent. gl man

Of course defence is a teachable discipline/position. There are core principles, skills, tactics. You build a lethal arsenal of capabilities. The intuition comes in the moment of play, but what we would call intuition is really your mind, body, muscle memory, experience, game intelligence, teamwork and communication, etc. all working together to create a pro-level response in a microsecond.

Summary: Must be proactive. Have the ability to moce him into the position you want and ater that its about the scenerio, analyse the situation. 1:49 Depends if many chances. Can i make you wait long enough for my teammates to get back. Or do i realy have to do something on my own (still try delay) 2:20 If attacker goes left amd i know hes gonna shoot im going to make him decide fast. If i block his left side hes gonna have no option now he has to wait. If i can be close enough to block it i will. But if youre fast I won't lunge in and get close coux im giving you what you want. Buying time is very crucial in the 11 game. 4:15 Playing against too players who can be very flexible you need to analyse the situation. How will they press? Intervention? Know who you playing against. Need To Know Your Player. The Game is Very unpredictable. 6:07 Professional fouls: depens. For example if youre winning 1-0 90Min and theres a guy 1v1 with the keeper,go for the tackle. Normally never try go for the red because if you can stay on the pitch you never know how your team can give a quick response that might actually be through you. So many little thinsg in the end matter. Theres no staright law to something. It really does depend on allot of factors. Try position yourself well so you dont take a red or even a yellow.positioning can get you out of a card. 8:29 His Advice: always look at yourself first. If you slays look at others you wont learn from yourself and be accountable or improve. Mistakes are a part of football. Other advice Watch Games🔥 different players, different qualities. Drink in all the best players and learrn from all. In all scenraios and understand the game.

Everything he says then basically comes down to learn to be in control of the things you CAN be and don't worry too much about the things you CAN'T because there's always something you can't be in control of when your one on one against a good attacker , every situation has the possibility of unpredictability you can't train or practice for , you just have to be ready to react to sometimes So to have the best chance OF reacting correctly do the things you CAN do first, ingrain them in yourself in your training to always be reading the game and watching all around you Awareness Always know exactly where you are, your team mates are and the opponents are , where the space Is, where the space Isn't Also watch everything and conciously try to make little mental notes during a game of the opposition players and how they are playing and what they are trying on the day even when your not facing this player yourself ,remember if he is tending to use repeated moves against other teammates and talk to them in the game , communicate with your other defenders and pass on information Basically be switched on ALL the time If you know and do this you will have a better chance to be in a position to make the right reactive decisions in all the different unique situations you find yourself in a game or as he says "It depends" because these are the main things "It depends" on which are in YOUR control
