Even though it’s a big advertisement for his book, I feel that it’s really based in trying to tech people the contents of his message. Of course, the book does that, and his whole point is to get you to buy the book to learn the message. This felt like a giant long scrolling infomercial web page that never really said anything, but was quite verbose.

“I do that as well. I believe in making people feel comfortable. You can either make them very nervous and uncomfortable, or you can make them feel at ease. But why make them feel bad for you? It’s not their problem. Why make another human being feel that way if you can help it?! It always came naturally to me. I just thought this was how everyone thought, but the more I experienced the opposite, the more I realized it wasn’t common at all. I’ve always wanted to do something like this: help people, teach people, and make them feel good. I googled it to see how to get into this field, yet I can never find a job title for it. How does one get into this?”

. Importance of Communication Skills (0:00) 0:00: Warren Buffett emphasizes the significance of communication skills in enhancing self-worth. 0:11: Communication is identified as the number one skill to develop for success. 0:17: Overview of the session: exploring four key laws of communication. 2. The Law of Visual Expression (0:25) 0:25: Introduction to the Law of Visual Expression - "Show and Tell is better than just Tell." 0:38: Benefits of visual aids in communication. 11:05: Importance of gestures, facial expressions, and movement to connect with the audience. 11:55: Video example of John Maxwell demonstrating adaptability during a presentation mishap. 3. The Law of Connection (1:47) 1:47: Explanation of the Law of Connection - communication is about others. 2:10: Importance of thinking from the audience’s perspective. 4:20: Maxwell shares advice from his father: believe in, value, and love people unconditionally. 5:00: Key to connection: getting over yourself and focusing entirely on the audience. 7:04: Shifting focus from creating fans to forming connections with the audience. 4. The Law of Anticipation (10:09) 10:09: How to create anticipation and engage the audience using phrases and timing. 26:02: Techniques for building audience anticipation and preparing them for key takeaways. 5. The Law of Content (33:30) 33:30: Importance of creating a "runway" for ideas and structuring speeches effectively. 35:08: Strategies for connecting with the audience through relevant examples, questions, and shared experiences. 38:03: Avoiding questions that the audience cannot answer to maintain engagement. 6. The Law of Preparation (1:03:00) 1:03:00: Resist the temptation to wing it and work for it. (write your lessons down). The more you prepare, the more you care. If you don’t prepare, you don’t value the audience very much. 7. The Law of Simplicity (1:05:02) 1:05:02: Communicators make complex topics simple to understand. Educators make simple things complicated, and communicators make complex topics simple. 1:05:58: The value of repetition and the importance of keeping messages concise. Get to the point before the audience asks what the point is. 8. The Law of the Thermostat (1:07:42) 1:07:42: Communicators must "read the room" and adjust the tone or pace. 1:08:45: Example of turning a challenging communication setting into an engaging experience. 9. The Law of Adding Value (1:11:08) 1:11:08: Focus on adding value to the audience and creating meaningful connections. 1:12:28: Importance of sowing value before expecting to reap rewards. 10. The Law of Results (1:15:55) 1:15:55: Communication success is measured by inspiring action in the audience. 1:18:02: Assessment of audience engagement and application of lessons. 11. Practical Communication Tips and Closing (1:25:30) 1:25:30: Overcoming nervousness and focusing on adding value to the audience. 1:29:10: Using humor to reduce tension and foster relatability. 1:32:45: Final emphasis on taking action and ensuring lasting impact.

I read a great book in 1981 or so written by Rev Fr John Powell titled What Am I Afraid to Tell You Who I am. The book reset my life ever since. If you lay your hand on the book please read it. I think you can find it online and may audio book version could be found.
