Senses and emotions may lie, but the camera isn't shy about telling you the brutal truth. Also, recently I was discussing with a friend about how it's often very difficult to be aware of the very small improvements we make from day to day. Sometimes it's only after clearly accomplishing something that was impossible for us in the past that we realize how much we've improved. Re-examining videos of past performances are a great way to track our undetectable improvements. It's not only greatly encouraging to see it, but it can also help us to realize when we are on the correct or incorrect path. And a nice bonus is that if you routinely record yourself, it can sometimes catch those rare moments of inspiration or unintentionally beating your previous personal best. It gives you a record to re-examine yourself to help you figure out what you did right that one time to get such good results.
