32:21 color matching of popular GW/Vallejo paints would be a great idea for a future video! Some suggestions: Model Color Ivory, Ice Yellow, Deck Tan, English Uniform, Dark Sea Blue and GW Rhinox Hide, Khorne Red, Mephiston Red, Incubi Darkness, Rakarth Flesh and Zandri Dust to name a bunch of popular ones. EDIT: or what would potentially be more popular and useful is out of production paints like: Goblin Green, Snakebite Leather and Chestnut ink.

This is a really helpful video about skin colour theory. The only things I'd love to see added are examples. I created a lot of experiments such as this and documented the end results in a small booklet with artists grade paper. It holds up really well. But I have no real good references to compare the colours against. I remember miniac painting a Blade mini and the method is really surprising for darker skins. So some indicators / examples on the uses of the displayed colours would help a lot! :)
@3reshKigal2 жыл бұрын
The problem with examples is that it takes so many hours to show things. You have several skintone tutorials inside the pegasoworld website and some in this channel that go into specifics. In the future though I’ll try to film myself painting a skintone on a model so you’ll have it as an example, making several skintones from start to finish on several models in a single video is a bit too difficult to do though.
@HuntersOA2 жыл бұрын
@@3reshKigal I get that - I just mean painted minis showcased for reference. Not a guide on how to use them. Just add some photos / show them. Ofcourse it would take ages to show everything :) Sorry for not making it obvious. I think even a PDF with some already painted minis would be really nice and just add some markings, that here the shadow colour is the one mixed at whatever minutes in the video. This would not take much, but it would be a really good reference

10:05 do you like to create more saturate shadows in general or specifically when painting skin tones?
@kimeramodels6 ай бұрын
In general is a good idea. Grey shadows will make the pieces look very dull and with no contrast since it’s very difficult to do super saturated lights (because of white). If you want to do a desaturated piece, it’s usually in the mid tones that you need desaturation though, not shadows.
@MinisByJuan2 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial thanks for sharing, very interesting, I'll try these experiments. Just a little remark: please use manual focus when you're filming, in the video the palette is sometimes blurry because the camera focuses on Ricardo's hand. 🙏
@kimeramodels2 жыл бұрын
Yes the focusing on the hand wasn't good, when painting a model though it shouldn't be a problem. But we will surely experiment on manual focusing.
@davidyingling6232 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great video. I heard thalo blue has crazy tinting strength, and even small amounts massively change the mix too blue. Do you use black to make up for the blue being thalo blue, and having insane tinting strength, because using blue seems more natural especially when using primary colors only. If you do a follow up maybe use ultramarine blue which I think was added in the first big expansion set. Also, I think I'll try this in a art/drawing/watercolor notebook with thick paper that should be able to take the acrylic paint just fine. Maybe noting down what sort of color mixes or how I'm mixing with a pen would be helpful. I've barely touched my Kimera Paints using how hard they are to buy as an excuse to avoid using them, but now I think I'll challenge myself to empty them, and learn more about color mixing/color theory along the way. I'll just buy Golden SoFlat or something else more easily available if Kimera are still out of stock everywhere. Thanks.
@kimeramodels2 жыл бұрын
Yes black mixed in is used sometimes instead of blue because that one is too powerful. I'll do a follow up on skintones in the future for sure explaining more things, as it is a very complex topic. Thank you :)
