By far one of the best tutorials regarding the chain punch.

Let me tell you guys i have met and trained with many wing chun instructors and none of them were able to explain the basics of the system as simple and eloquent as Sifu Vik. So in my honest opinion,take these lessons to heart ,accept the advice given,be thankful for free instruction and keep up the good work. Best regards.

I used this during a boxing sparring session and my coach liked it a lot because I can throw straight punches at close range and beat them to the punch, confusing them as I'm not limited by only throwing hooks, shovel hooks, and uppercuts.

you seem to have a real and extended knowledge about fighting systems and what works. Can I ask how many years of fighting or training experience you have had in both boxing and wing chun?

I've been having problems trying to get all my joints behind my punch. Especially the spine and ankles. I've been sinking and rotating my hips more to get more power but I don't know if this is right. Thank you for the video Sifu! GOD Bless!

@@IYWCOnline I haven't had a lot of formal training in wing chun. My mom's ex boyfriend trained under Ip man's last close door student's lineage and he taught me a little. Plus I've done some online training and a little at a kung fu school but I haven't been able to go for a long time. The teacher there trained wing chun for a while but I'm not sure what lineage and I have trained in other kung fu styles like the animal styles and some MMA.

If I might suggest something: The alignment of the hips/pelvis is really important, as you point out, but for some reason you ALWAYS stand sideways. The hip from the front leg should be the same distance as the one from the standing leg. Which is hard to do, but if you really use structure and your body for your techniques it makes a huge difference. And it is one of the first things we have to learn in my school, but for some reason most people on KZbin get it wrong. And it is especially strange that you then talk about joint alignment, when your most important joint, namely the hip, is pointing at almost 45° away from the enemy while your upper body is facing more straight. So you end up standing a bit twisted and sideways.
@IYWCOnline4 жыл бұрын
Spin360 indeed the alignment of the hip is important but the way you describe to maintain it is the very basic way of doing so and robs you of the cutting/spiraling power that’s available to you as you get further in the system. Of course the pelvis could and should move, so long as the shoulders stay stacked above them and move with them, alignment is maintained. When using punches to cut across your opponent’s bridges, your centerline can move across their body as long as it doesn’t pass their shoulder lines. Hope this makes sense and helps.
@spinEbO4 жыл бұрын
@@IYWCOnline You do indeed need to rotate the pelvis for punches, but my point is that you already start with out with your pelvis side ways, so there is no way you can rotate it. Only the upper body. I mean you can do it however you want, but if you were to do it like straight out of a textbook, you'd need to have shoulders and pelvis straight.
@IYWCOnline4 жыл бұрын
Spin360 now that depends which text book you’re reading from and at what stage. Having spent quite sometime studying many lineages, I have almost never seen it performed the way you suggest in any of the more advanced practitioners or in (successful) live training. Thanks!

Do you clench/squeeze your fist on impact or keep it completely relaxed throughout the strike? Thanks
@moaad16838 жыл бұрын
+wingchunkune You keep your fist aligned and relaxed through the whole strike. The whole point of the wing chun chain punch is for the strikes to become more powerful after each one. So there is no need to clench your fist as all the force is divided among all the multiple punches you do.

As a long time WC guy and a short (4 years) time MMA guy.. Im starting to have my doubts about WC. It is badass. It is beautiful. It is a lot of fun. But damn, my muay thai can fuck up ANY of my wing chun brothers, and Im not even that good at it (muay thai). That is all.
