hey man, just wanted to let you know your course has motivated me and inspired me so much. I had been depressed and lazy for monthss, eating the worst food, just rolling out of bed 5 minutes before i have to go to work... Since discovering your channel 2 weeks ago I've been inspired to adopt much healthier habbits. I know you said to only focus on one keystone habbit so for me, I focused on fitness. But I also tried to get a better sleep and wake up an hour before work, and also some daily meditation. These habbits prepare my mind to stay focused and get motivated to achieve my other smaller personal goals, such as eating healthier, practising music, reading more, learning to code, ect... Anyways I just wanted to thank you for being that spark. Your videos are truly great. Informative and I love how you include real scientific studies in most of them as well. Cheers! I'll try to donate to your patreon page sometime.

Now this is something I've been wondering about, because sometimes I just don't have the right _power_ to complete certain tasks. These tips are on point! I find that instead of always thinking too *deeply* and keeping my mind preoccupied with the so many tasks at hand, I just use my *imagination* and think about more _pleasant things_ . I find that it helps my mood and helps me get through the job without frustration and tiredness. And having gratitude helps! As long as I stay thankful and realize that things can be worse, it makes me more content with the thing I'm doing. 'Congratulations on getting an official show on KZbin! This is one of the most helpful channels I've found!!!

I’m seeing a lot of hate and support on these videos in the comment section. I think applying these “motivational tactics” like intermittent fasting vs eating breakfast every morning is like choosing a diet. Some diets work better for others. You just have to choose what works best for you. I like what this guy is talking about, I’m looking at “willpower” as energy, and the idea or depleting and recharging your batteries makes plenty of sense to me. I’m going to try meditation as I have a hard time turning my brain off. Cue: brushing my teeth High bar: 15 min Low bar: 2 min Reward: yummy eggs however I want them that morning! Thank you improvement pill! I’m starting a new business and am having many terrible late nights wondering if I’ll be successful and I think your advice is going to put me on the right track

Thank you. I am really understanding this and can see how these things work on me. I am really excited about it. I feel like this will help me accelerate my life in a way that’s easy to actually take action on. I feel I could have wasted a lot of time trying to figure out “what’s wrong with me” so that I could then change my lifestyle. Like childhood issues etc. A lot of trauma that keeps me depressed and doing the same old things. Like if I could heal my wounds I could change. But this starting with the actions is the way. I mean I guess I would be interested in just how my coping mechanisms keep me clinging to unhealthy relationships and bad habits would be useful. But I kind of prefer the bypass method. I just want to move forward. And it’s the habits that I still have that keep me stuck. Like you said keystones. Gracias!! bless you sir may your days be filled with happiness.

So make the reward for a routine or task either eating, going into standby mode (light exercise/walk, one unit of entertainment, socialize for a bit, etc), or taking a nap/resting up and you'll have more will power to do the next big task or decision.. which is why you recommended sandwiching rewards in between routines in an earlier video.

Ego depletion/a limit on your willpower is only a theory. Many argue that willpower can be unlimited. 4:34 students who didnt eat their breakfast performed bad maybe because they are not used to that? Because many people who do fasting and eating mostly at the end of the day say they perform better on mental tasks during daytime. 4:20 ''low glycemic foods like eggs'' eggs dont have any glycemic value because it doesnt has carbohydrates.

@user-cp3nl4jf5z3 жыл бұрын
- Eat low glycemic food ( egg, nuts, citric fruits) - In thinking mode our willpower constantly drains out. So, switch to standby mode...will power recharges faster when we are not actively using it. i.e, - Not making any tough decisions / thinking hard. - Allow your mind to wander naturally/ enjoy the things around you. - Go out for 5-10 mins surrounded by nature/ take a break for 5-10 mins that takes less action. - If you can't stop thinking/ worrying (meditate). Once you start meditating your ability to quite your mind n control your thoughts increase dramatically. - Sleep ( It allows our brain to recharge well).if you don't get enough sleep your ability to process glucose gets impaired. The habit building process may become terrible.

The results of the ego depletion experiments could not be replicated by researchers all over the world. It’s not finite and it doesn’t have to do with glucose levels.

Getting nutrition, taking breaks & get enough sleep ... these are ways to get energy, not willpower. --------------------------------- According to Dandapani, there are three ways to develop your willpower: 1)Finish what you begin. (eg: make your bed after you finish sleeping) 2)Finish it well, beyond your expectations. (eg: fluffy the pillows) 3)Do a little more than you think you can do. (eg: straighten the sheets for a perfect look) Look at your average day and ask yourself, what are the repetitive things you do every day. What are the non-negotiable, re-occurring events in your life? Making your bed in the morning, washing the dishes after breakfast, or cleaning up your deskspace after a workday - all these offer us a chance to develop willpower.
