Jokić's skill set unlocked their team potential and every playbook that you are seeing right now was developed in the last few years, starting 2018- 2019, when the Nuggets staff realized what they've had, in their possession. I'll bet you anything, that 10 years ago or so, they didn't have a single action drawn in their book, where their C is moving the ball across the court.

The only guy that could change this is Wemby when he’ll become stronger and like 15-20 pounds heavier, now he is only 230 so 250 pounds + grown men strenght will be enough to guard any Center, but he’ll probably lose a bit of speed and mobility so he won’t guard the perimeter as well …

As expected Rudy Gobert isnt a Ben Wallace type of elite 1 on 1 and interior defender. This why i question Rudy greatness at times. He's good but no where near top 5 defenders ever.

He did his best, but Jokić is simply one of the greatest offensive players of all-time, period.

As if Ben Wallace, whose defense I have a great respect for, could've done anything Vs Jokic
@Matthew-xl5bc9 ай бұрын
1 on 1 isn't the only form of defense. This is a casual take and no ond has Gobert as a top 5 defender
@aquatazer9 ай бұрын
Sorry man, but Ben Wallace would get cooked by Jokić. The big threat is the spacing which Wallace would have no ability to work on. Gobert is a top five all-time interior defender, but his weakness (and almost all big men’s weakness) is guarding the perimeter. Wallace would get cooked having to guard Jokić from the half-court, just like everyone else does. It’s not a knock on anyone, it’s just that Jokić is an all-time great scorer, and one of the best passers of all time to boot.
@samhartje7239 ай бұрын
I mean, no one can actually guard Jokic. Not really his fault. Ben Wallace was nowhere near the rim deterrent Gobert is, so they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

I don't think being outplayed by Nikola Jokic should have any bearing on any DPOY selection, in the same way Joel Embiid dropping 70 on Wemby should have any bearing on his candidacy.

He scored 24 points in 26 possessions with Wemby guarding. That’s a rate of 92 points per 100 possessions. Like I said, getting cooked by an all-time great scorer is not an indicator of who or who shouldn’t win DPOY.

Yeah, statistically 16th in NBA history. Not sure where the line crosses "historic", but ranking ahead of teams like the '70 Knicks, '96 Bulls, and '04 Pacers probably deserves the label.
